Bignewprinz
Just started this bad boy and can honestly say the level of detail on him is starting to send me mad, I need help on his fur cloak, I feel a simple dry brush job would be a disservice any advice? Grimnaud
Have you ever experimented with glazes? It looks like there is enough contrast on the cloak already that on or two layers of a brown glaze would do wonders.
Bignewprinz
I had no experience at all with them, but I will give it a shot how do I make the glaze up just with water? Or would I have to anything else
Grimnaud
I mix the desired colour out with thinner medium, lamia medium, and a bit of water. The thinner medium is the essential part here. You can substitute the lamia medium for some more water, it will just dry quicker. But if you can't get your hands on any thinner medium, then what you could try is just two-three layers of a brown wash instead. Give the cloak a very light dry brush of white first just to really make it pop, and then keep adding thin layers of washes until you're happy with the result. Dez
Great advice above, especially in regards to different layers of drybrush. GW makes glazes as well, if you pop into a hobby shop on the way home. Looking good so far!
cb_rex
There's no shame in drybrushing a fur cloak, just increase the number of steps between you're darkest recesses and the highest highlights. Especially with this kind of classically sculpted fur cloak drybrushing should work very well. The modern smooth uniform CAD produced fur on GW models now would take layering or blending better, but drybrushing for fur is always a good option. The glaze/wash technique is a great way of doing it as already mentioned as well. For you're Khorne model a brown or white fur would probably work better than black to contrast better against the silver armour.
