  1. I just love the Tree revenants, they where the main reason I even picked up the Sylvaneth in the first place

Have they been a disapointment? Yes they have, I dont know how many times my unit of 5 have charged in and died horrible.

But after reading through the last posts, I am considering, that I might have look at them wrong.

If I played more games than I do, I would probaly get better results. As a casual gamer, I need stuff thas is easy to use, the Tree revenants does not fall in that categori.

More investment more output seems to be the case.

    Thanks.

    (sorry for bad english)

  2. It might sound like I am repeating myself, but I really hope that GW will come up with a new terrain piece for Sylvaneth, the Wyldwoods are a pain, and slow down games.

That said I find the new hero very interesting, from a collectors perspective that is, for now. :)

  3. I was thinking about throwing something like this on the table:

    Allegiance: Sylvaneth

    Leaders
    Spirit of Durthu (380)
    - General
    - Trait: Gnarled Warrior
    - Artefact: The Oaken Armour
    Branchwych (80)
    - Artefact: Acorn of the Ages
    - Deepwood Spell: Regrowth
    Branchwraith (80)
    - Deepwood Spell: Verdant Blessing

    Battleline
    30 x Dryads (270)
    10 x Dryads (100)
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)

    Units
    3 x Kurnoth Hunters (200)
    - Greatswords
    3 x Kurnoth Hunters (200)
    - Greatbows
    3 x Kurnoth Hunters (200)
    - Scythes
    3 x Kurnoth Hunters (200)
    - Greatbows

    Battalions
    Free Spirits (120)

    Endless Spells
    Chronomantic Cogs (60)

    Total: 1970 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1

I’ve looked around, and everyone keeps saying how I need the Gnarlroot grove, is it that good?

and can’t I simply play without battalion, and use the points for better units? How viable is that?

    I’m thinking about this:

    Alarielle 600

    Tree man Ancient 300

    Spirit of Durthu 380 (+1 hit/wound sword)

    Branchwraith 80

    Tree Revenants 80

    Tree Revenants 80

    20 Dryads 200

    Kurnoth hunters (3 models) 200

    Cogs 60

    1980

Loose the Ancient, Alarielle can summon him if needes.

Spend the point on more Dryads, more Kurnoths and another Branchwraith.

Great job man, that must feel a million times better. I am strict with my purchasing so I don’t get into that situation because it’s so easy to do.

I also helped myself get stuff painted by refusing to play with unpainted miniatures and giving up video games.

    Are you me?

In what way hard to place, 1" away from terrain and within 1" of each other doesn't seem too complicated to my self but I suppose they are not "place them anywhere".

They do block movement but that can be used as a advantage to us, bottlenecking opponents units or using to block a area off from a big monster. I can't argue they slow the down game as I suppose they do.

They are costly and are a tax on the army money wise, no argument!

Exactly in that way hard. If you play on a table with just a decent amount of terrain you wont be able to place that many woods. I would have liked GW to just make one big Tree of Life. But that is just me.

Out of interest in what way do you think they're too complicated?

I think they are way to hard to place, and if you play them like the rules are written, they can really block movement and slow down game-play and they are expensive in real money. I think GW have done much better with terrain specific buffs and rules in later battletomes.

    Thanks for asking. :)

Okay, i have 5, so i need to get 3 more.

Another question:   did someone have a painting guide?  i wanna do some snow / winter sheme on my sylvaneth.  grey/blue/ icey sheme.

    Just use a Xerox :)

I sincerely hope that Wyldwoods will change soon. They are far too complicated.

@Nixon looks solid! Plenty of hunters leaping across the table!

    Thanks.

Its an allright list, but with room for improvement. I would like to swap the Bows for more Scythes and the Branchwych for another Branchwraith.

@Nixon I also thought free spirits on their own could be solid! Curious what you are running? Not taking the 2nd larger battalion certainly frees up some points for many options!

    Sure thing, here you go.

  11. @Henlkhyn

Im currently trying to figure out myself what to get. The  named Heroes are the ones giving me the most headache.

They seem a bit underwhelming, what Im trying to figure out is, if we can run an effective army by just using our smaller heroes.

Using a Harrow as our genral and transporting small units of Grimghast could work.

Battalions are probably not worth the tax.

Grimghasts with support heroes are pretty effective, so go get as many as you can afford. :)
