  1. I have probably 200 grots still unpainted. I’m really thinking this might be the way to go. Spray, use the darker green for skin, black for cloth, brown for spear hafts and shields, really any color for shield moons but probably yellow, then pick out remaining detail in normal fashion.
  2. Yep. Both will work, however if they're the old multipart kits, the scale is a bit off. Mixed in it shouldn't be a huge deal. I'm partial to running Stabbas with, well, stabbas (swords)....but I know a lot of people advocate big 60 gobbo blocks of spears. With the prevalence of -1 to hit effects, making spears hit on 6+, I'd rather take my chance with less stabba attacks. I've never found in the games I've played that an extra rank of attacks is that necessary. I think the math on it is pretty negligible, barring any specific buffs.
  3. Ah yea. Their quite potent at magic. Just still seems like a lot to get 13 MW.
  4. Wow 13 MW is a solid number even from Tzeentch. And so is doing 7 with ranged. It sounds like maybe they rolled above average. Also sounds like they put their entire army into him, so that probably means the rest of your army was safe?
  5. Wow, was it top or bottom of turn 1? Putting out 20 wounds at range seems pretty impressive. What were you facing?
  6. That would combo really nicely with the Stardrake combo. He does an innate damage reflection, both those spells, the artifact that bounces damage (Smoldering Helm or something?) would all add up to quite a few reflected wounds, especially on 6s. However, I wonder at what point it would yield diminishing returns on investment? Stack too many buffs into one unit and you may regret not simply adding more troops, other utility units, etc. For example, bouncing a bunch of mortal wounds back against a chaff/horde unit probably isn't going to be an efficient use of all the points you paid in buffing units.
  7. Not a bad idea especially for wizard variety. Hadn't thought about the others as Loonboss tho.
  8. Nah I don’t own either yet. I’d honestly be inclined to think you’re going to start seeing diminishing returns if you throw TOO many points at buffs. They’ve always been my MVP even with only basic buffs. One thing I did run once that I’d like to test more is a Webspinner on foot in the midst of two units, casting the 12” -1 to hit bubble (sneaky distraction? Can’t recall the name). With netters properly placed, -2 to hit gobbos will be hard to dislodge. Add a Colossal on one flank for even more negative hit debuff fun!
  9. Not sure exactly what you’d consider “fully buffed,” but I’ve run 2x60 a couple times and they’re great. Usually with Loonboss MWs on one, and trying for Sporesplatta extra attack on both. Still working on what compliments them best. I’ve run 10-20 Boingrot and found them solid, but underwhelming when not properly buffed themselves. Thinking Fellwaters might be a nice flank guard/hammer unit.
  10. This. I play Gloomspite, but have no interest in trolls (which I refuse to call Troggoths). But have a lot of grots, and would love to get a bunch of squigs. If they provided unique abilities for each Ogor allegiance, or one that has multiple effects on different units like Gloomspite, that would be awesome. A spell lore or 2 (generic ogors and firebellues?), maybe a new unit or two, though that’s not even entirely necessary. Would be cool to see a true BCR wizard and spell lore. I’d always really like to see a firebelly unit, but I’m not sure if that’s in the lore.
  11. Fair. Anything that makes Ogors playable would be nice. Look at Gloomspite. You can play all goblin, all squig, all trolls, or anywhere in between. Wouldn’t be bad to have all those options in the Ogor sense.
  12. All rumors and conjecture at this stage. Lot of people seem to be hopeful, mostly that we’ll see either a combined Ogors+BCR book, or a separate Ogor book that rolls Gutbuster, Firebelly, and Maneater together. I personally hope for Ogor and BCR to remain different factions.
  13. Don’t you mean once in a Bad Moon?
  14. Finally played a game with Gloomspite. My moon never moved! 🙁 However, it was a great, fun, and close game. Narrow loss to Nighthaunt. Colossal squig was a beast, Bounders were a tiny bit underwhelming with no support (but still did ok and were fun). I think from a battleline perspective I prefer Stabbas with Stabbas. Since all of our Grot buffs are for wound rolls, you really need to get a lot of hits. Pokin’ Spears just don’t get enough, even with extra reach. If they somehow end up with a -1 they’re in big trouble. But, I like them better aesthetically so I might continue to run them 🤷‍♂️ Webspinner with Sneaky Distraction was great too. With netters in the front ranks and shamen behind my grots were usually -2 to hit. Fungoid shaman was good too...but mainly bc I was lucky with his 4+ FnP and rolled enough for the extra cp each turn.
  15. Yea that’s why I said borderline necessary. If you are going for a straight up alpha strike that is meant to cripple the enemy I think he is close to an auto include. Otherwise a good unit but not critical. The hit and run trait can help him survive a bit longer, too.
  16. If you’re going very Squig heavy, I’d think yes. Every extra unit of Bounders/Hoppers/Herd magnifies his return on investment. Just himself and a small number of Squigs might not be the best points investment. But in a Squig army a Mangler boss seems pretty strong/maybe borderline necessary.
  17. See, I feel the opposite. I think the Mangler is a great “distraction Carnifex” in any list on its own, that is only enhanced by thematic buffs. With +1 to wound it’ll do great work, but without it it’ll be fine. It’s relatively mobile, and can get to places it needs to be, and maybe not need a tough 9” charge like the Skitterstrand. I’m not saying the spider is bad by any means, but for around the same price (or as I pointed out, Manglers+shaman is about equal to Webspinner) you can’t go wrong. Just pure damage alone, the Manglers win, and I don’t think ability to deepstrike makes the Skitterstrand a better choice. Opponents will realize quickly that it doesn’t pose a massive offensive threat and deal with it accordingly.
  18. Eh. It brings spells, one of which buffs only SPIDERFANG, and only marginally increases its own utility. I thought the discussion was purely non-character versions tho? For the Webspinner price I get Manglers and a shaman for similar, and can access any lore. Even the Foot Webspinner if I want. Squigs have great buffs available, if we’re moving beyond the solo models. Better, I think, than the spiders. In the mid-200s range I think Manglers are the obvious better choice. They are very self sufficient but can benefit greatly from buffs where there. Really tho, it’s probably don’t to personal preference. Neither is SO good or bad that they’re obvious auto-includes or leave-homes. I just like the idea of a major melee threat that, if you don’t quite kill it the whole way, suddenly it’s perfectly fine again. And the Skitterstrand deepstriking behind enemy lines sounds nice, but unsupported it’ll just amount to a distraction (albeit a good one) and maybe objective grabber.
  19. I think just by the numbers the Mangler Squigs outmatch the Skitterstrand. By a decent margin too. Plus as they get closer to death they get better again, while the spider just plain degrades. The Mangler is even 20pts cheaper. The spider can appear wherever tho. That’s nice I suppose. I’ll be much more likely to take Manglers than a Skitterstrand personally.
  20. True. I'm most concerned with updates to warscroll builder! Really want to start toying around with some lists!
  21. I don't know a ton about pre-Gloomspite grots, but I don't think that too much was completely eliminated. Sourbreath Troggoths are gone, I believe. Squig Herds are a combined Squigs/Herders warscroll now. There might be some more I'm missing. Moonclan infantry are not Shootas and Stabbas. Shootas are armed with bow and slitta, while Stabbas have a choice between Pokin' Spear and Stabba (I know that makes it confusing, since they're called Stabbas!). Standard order of spears hit on 5+ but have 2" reach, while stabbas are 1" reach but hit on 4+. The app is definitely not up to date. There are only a few units in the Gloomspite list, and whiles they're all up to date there is a lot missing (various characters, mangler squigs, snufflers, and probably a lot more I'm forgetting). The next round of pre-release starts tomorrow. The app should hopefully update along with that, and I'm also hoping Warscroll Builder updates soon too! Hope that helps! EDIT - As an aside, some things seems to have gained, not new warscrolls but enough changes and distinction to be actual separate units. The big case here is the Araknarok. The 3 different versions all seem to have their uses, and aren't identical in rules/points anymore, so that's a plus!
  22. All Moonclan, Spiderfang, and Troggoth is being rolled into Gloomspite (plus Gargants). Nothing is being rebranded, however not everything is GROT. Certain things are only MOONCLAN, SPIDERFANG, etc. Most seems to prevent hiding fanatics where it wouldn't make sense and other odd rules interactions. No Gitmob, however. They can still ally in, as can Bonesplitters and Greenskins.
  23. What allows Grots to reroll all hits?
