  1. Really sorry to hear this Warren. We were looking forward to it greatly. The 'Leeds Last Stand' group are looking to run an event in July (we ran 3 last year), and I love the 'random doubles' format you run at Rumble. Would you have any objections if we pinched a chunk of your tournament idea and tried to run one here? We haven't decided on a definite format yet, but yours is a strong contender. Paul
  2. Well if the Orkcunian is going, you'd better sign me up too!
  3. Bad news/ Good news Bad news - Unfortunately I'm going to have to drop out from this. Sorry. Please could you arrange a refund. Good news - you now have a spare place to make a disappointed applicant happy Hope this event goes really well guys Paul Whitehead
  4. I played Stuart game 2 at Tempest. I had a fun game. Poor Stuart. His first AoS tournament, and I had just lost game one on a bad dice roll. My 4 Thundertusks showed no mercy. Funnily enough I was not shocked not to get a 'best sports' vote from him. He will have a brilliant time at AGOM - now that he's a veteran he can rofl-stomp the Noobs!!! And probably crush me as I have been shamed into taking a soft list. Magma Dragons are fluffy, right?
  5. We always love AGOM, so tickets bought for Luke and me.
  6. Looking forward to this. I'm at Tempest in Scotland the week before with a fairly competitive Mixed Destruction list, so think I'll bring a pure Beastclaw list to this one so I can play less competitively and have more fun. Behemoths for the win!!
  7. Lists submitted for Luke and myself. Luke bringing filthy Stormcasts. I'm bringing a nice soft Destruction list with only 4 Thundertusks......
  8. You know when you said final version out THIS week................
  9. I've taken the plunge and bought a ticket. Beastclaw/Destruction will be there!
  10. I'm going to bring 2 armies. A soft army (stopped calling them 'fluffy 'cos everyone shouts at me when I say 'Fluffy Beastclaw') and a more competitive army. Then I'll decide on the spur of the moment depending what everyone else brings, on which one to use for the day. I would like to use the softer army as it contains models I don't normally get to use, but don't want my opponents to just roll over me and make it a short pointless game for them. Mind you if Tony is going to be as hung over and jet lagged as he reckons then it might not matter :-)
  11. Hi Warren, don't lose heart just yet. The last tournament I ran in October had a VERY slow start for entries. Even 3 weeks before it there were only 10 or so entrants, and then it went mad and I sold out - 28 places and 30 odd entrants. I think that because it's a long time - over three months, until the event, and many people will be like me, looking at their diaries and not wanting to commit to anything until the new year. Also it seems that quite a few events this last year have only had 2-3 months notice so people will be waiting to see if there are other events coming out about that time too. The good news is that the dates are out for Sheffield Slaughter and SCGT and your event falls nicely between them and there are not normally any other Big events at that time of year. Also I can't find anything else that clashes with the date. So my advice is to be patient for now and certainly don't cancel yet - Luke and I want to play! My impression is that a lot of the people who were there last year were moving to 9th Age rather than AoS, so you will need to appeal to a different bunch of people - and that can be difficult as many won't have heard of Rushden Rumble as well as there being so many people joining the AoS scene who have never played wargames before. I would have a push on social media and forums in mid January, you should get quite a few more takers then. I'm happy to retweet stuff and put the word round generally. Also I found a great way of getting the word around was to get mentioned on a few podcasts - Bad Dice, Age of Sigbrah, Heelanhammer, Bravery One, Facehammer, Tabled, and The Black Sun are all worth contacting as part of a January 'push'. Also ask people to mention your event at all the events they attend in the meantime. Hang in there Warren. Build it and they will come........ Paul
  12. I am really happy to see this event appearing on the AoS calendar. I was there last year when it was run as 8th ed. It was my last ever 8th ed tourney and was an excellent and fun event for me. It was a pleasant surprise to see it as AoS this year though, because last year I felt a bit intimidated as an enthusiastic AoS player, by the strength of anti-AoS feeling from many of the other entrants. I presume that sentiment has subsided, and that is why you feel confident running the event as AoS. The gaming atmosphere was great last year, and the format of swapping double partners each round ended up with me having 3 really fun games, and my son Luke coming 2nd overall! I'm currently trying to arrange my calendar to be able to attend. I've got a genuinely fluffy list in mind already, so hope to see you there.
  13. Thanks for kind words guys. Totally agree about best painted, a short list is far better and it will happen next time. In my defence I'm not sure where I'd have time to organise that along with everything else, so will need to draft in another helper next time to look after that. Luke did really well as a TO and 'data monkey' didn't he - and he's only 14. Really happy for any other feedback/constructive criticism/advice/suggestions - just leave it here or drop me an email. Always striving to make the next event better than the last.

  16. I have made the requested amendments to army lists. Amended lists are at: Army Lists.doc Pub meals all booked. Still plenty to do, but we are currently on schedule for a super day If someone could just find another player to join us so I don't have to play as spare player, that would be perfect.......
  17. Yeah thanks, just a typo on my part - he's bringing 2 lots of 3! Tony Moore played a list at FHGT 1000pt event - Tomb Banshee, 2 x 10 Zombies, and 2 yes TWO Mournguls. Now THAT was scary. Agree that 3 x 3 Stormfiends is very strong too. It will be very interesting to see how it all pans out on Sunday
  18. So all the army lists and menu orders are in. A pretty even spread of factions: 8 x Order, 6 x Chaos, 7 x Death, 7 x Destruction The FULL army lists are attached to this post, so you can peruse them. Entrants, please check your lists and ensure I have them correct. Get them here: Army Lists.doc The round 1 draw will be done on Friday evening by my daughter pulling names from a hat, and put on here. That gives you a full day to study your opponents list, so no excuses for not knowing what their army does. Menu choices are: 2 x Five Bean Chilli 2 x Veg Lasagne 5 x Steak & Potato Pie 7 x Roast Pork 15 x Roast Beef There is still a spare place if anyone wants a last-minute entry. Just contact me.
  19. Yes please. Coins are fine, but proper markers look so much nicer. No markers to be greater than 50mm diameter, anything smaller is fine
  20. I have some spare terrain for those who have none. However, there are Tournament points for bringing your own terrain......
  21. 3 things: 1. Due to a drop out, there is a spare place to enter the event. If you wish to take it, then send the £15 to my PayPal account paulrosann@aol.com and I'll add you on 2. Minor change in rules pack. The previous rules pack allowed +1 to saves for being partially in terrain. The latest GW FAQs are very clear that you only get the extra save if all models are completely within the terrain. The event pack has been modified to reflect this. 3. In your army submissions please make it clear which models are in which unit. For example if you were taking 20 Savage Orruks in 2 units of 10, then please put 2 x 10 Savage Orruks (or 10 Savage Orruks + 10 Savage Orruks) - NOT just 20 Savage Orruks
  22. Can you resend please Adam. Please state what units you are taking and how many models in each unit. It makes it much easier for me to check lists for 'legality' and then there is no swapping around of unit sizes on the day. Cheers
  23. Done Tony, and I have someone wavering, so I'll let you know if they drop out as soon as I can
