  1. I suspect Resin minis get previewed a lot more when GW is having logistical trouble because they are less affected by it, and have trivial back end compared to plastic so are easy to shift up and down the schedule as needed.
  2. Oh god i love him, he even has too many books to fit on his bookshelf... Relatable!
  3. Ive ended up with two free gifts so should probably worry Personally ive never gotten anywhere with Hachette over the phone but their emails arent bad.
  4. Pretty sure any new edition box is going to be NEW faction v Stormcast, question is do they do Order v order or bring in new Chaos bois? Given GW has been pretty open about designing new stuff for Total war previously it seems safe to say Lizardmen are probably also going to go the same way, especially when the designs are just modern updates of the old minis anyhow
  5. I do hope they do Dogs of War, ive had a hankering to do some Marienburg pikemen with historical minis now there are lots of plastic landsknechts (human and ogre!) out there to use The Lizardman thing does bring up the crucial flaw with the Old world though, the impracticalities of involving half the armies!
  6. Exactly that, Old world seems to be promising a lot but isnt giving us much past maps and the odd colour plate, often essentially the same content over and over, like the time period its set in for example. People got really hyped by the Kislev and Cathay previews but then they were really for the computer game, not Old World, if its focused on an Empire civil war we'd be lucky to see Kislev slightly down the line when the Chaos horde starts moving but Cathay is faaaaar off.
  7. Yeah i got two a coupe of weeks ago somehow, probably the worst possible sprue to send out given how many i ended with off the first partwork run, still, more things to give away
  8. Thats because GW only fixes the release schedule a 3 months ahead, and thats still subject to things going wrong as we have seen a lot recently. Thats why i never like yearlong rumours because they are at best only broadly true, like, this may be what GW wants to do right now, but plans shift. Which is i suspect where even accurate rumourmongers go wrong. As for letting players determine the plot, well it can work, but you have to keep it controlled, otherwise you get utter chaos that makes no narrative sense. Legend of five rings is a huge example of this with so many bizarre, meme-y or deliberately troll results making the games history wildly incoherent at times.
  9. Names matter, i suspect if you make matched play the casual version and instead split off tournament play it would see more use, because people are weird. As someone who spent years teaching folks to play Warhammer, its significantly harder for people to get their heads around than AoS in my experience, like, AoS has niggly nuance but movement in old warhammer had just as much and usually sucked up the majority of the course. Once that was down things went a lot more smoothly but the difficulty curve started with a cliff while you can run a basic game of AoS with a 5 minute chat. +1 to LoTR being a great system too, super underrated by people.
  10. Technically Skaven, but that was before the new book and minimal mini release killed my enthusiasm for the game.
  11. Not a particularly current rumour , but on Peachy's new youtube channel (Or at least the one he joined) he revealed a Dwarf tank got as far as being painted by the army painter team before getting cancelled in late 8th ed warhammer. Boooo, that would have been cool, hopefully itll return one day, though probably not in OW, maybe in revamped dispossessed?
  12. Did that blood bowl expansion and book just come out of nowhere too?
  13. Im hoping you can run an all gitmob army, i frakkin love wolf riders
  14. I dunno, i cant help but think its the same bosses who seem super unconcerned about providing rules for a bunch of the heresy armies, 2 and some marines factions of which are still nebulous af. But then again they haev to be aware of the problems of letting people over promise on their behalf as a disappointment engine, so id expect a compendium or set of pdfs at least letting you field old minis. Id hope for some crossover, but base size is very important in the old warhammer rules, with that and ranking up i cant imagine many modern minis would fit well?
  15. Oh yeah ebay is mostly a retail store these days, but ive seen White Lions go for £103, thats what put me off!
  16. To be fair last time i looked into some old plastics for making conversions, White Lions were well over £100 a box and Bret men at arms were headed that way, even with inflation adjusted prices they are still a saving
  17. Bits of them do, thanks to the careless way they did the edition change a bunch of HH stuff has been without rules since release, which is increasingly the worst customer treatment we've seen in years. I guess it always depends on whats on each individual hobbyists mind, the lack of Skaven/Dwarf releases means ive just kinda checked out of AoS recently, and Ogres are pretty much in the same boat.
  18. Gaaah still the painful wait for Liber imperium too. At least i can finally get my Gutter Runners, goddamit with cost boosting card and elves for some reason
  19. Hehe yeah i looked into a Wolf Rider army in 8th because it sounded fun, but it cost 4 or 5 times the cost of any other cavalry themed army!
  20. Yeah they are promising dozens of factions for this which is clearly doing the necromunda thing and showing us what they are planning for the next decade or so rather than on release. Im constantly amazed at how these articles show so little but consistently seem to promise so much! Id expect something like Empire (Its a civil war dont y'know? saves on sprues!) and maybe Orcs on release and then the rest dribble out over years and years.
  21. Id just prepare for another map personally
  22. Oof that hunter is almost amazing, shame about the heeeeed
  23. Our group loves warcry but it never gathers any momentum, we all say nice things about it and every so often have a games night (With mostly minis from our AoS armies rather than dedicated warbands) and then continue to say nice things without ever really doing a campaign or anything despite us all saying we like the system. Customisation would be nice, though i can see the argument for the fixed loadouts. But as mentioned there isnt much in the way of long term purchases, perhaps warband expansion boxes like necromunda might help but im not sure. Ultimately i think a lot of specialist games coast on nostalgia a bit, if they released exactly the same system but called it Mordheim and used that setting for warbands it would triple sales id bet. Just have Belakor or Nagash conjure the memory/soul/macguffin of the old city somewhere in the mortal realms. Job done.
  24. Getting a bit bored of Warcry warbands of a dozen Chaos human infantry (Possibly with a couple of token other races) with some gimmick. Give us some cavalry/centaurs or Ogres, or winged mutants, hell, reimagine the old birdman mercs they would be sick as modern models! Dont get me wrong, i like all the Warcry bands individually but as a range they have long since begun blending together. Oh and most of all give us some Skaven, the utter lack of new models really killed my enthusiasm for the new book there.
