Also, I cannot remember now the source, so it could be something plotted in my mind, but I am quite sure that Nagash stole Stormcast souls to use them somewhere else. So we also have Death Stormcasts.

Yes, it also came from Malign Portents (there are notably SCE Souls stolen by Nagash himself in RGW era novels, it was the main goal of Nighthaunt Spirit Torments during the Souls Wars. And Archaon had Varanite War Altars attracting SCR souls in Wrath of the Everchosen, and of course the Cursed Skies since BR : Be'lakor).

BTW Etenus wasn't "reforged" (which is a techno-magical process invented by Sigmar and Grungni requiring the machineries of the Sigmarabulum, mostly the Anvil of Apotheosis). The rituals used by Be'lakor must be one-of-a-kind sort of, or we would have a full army of Eternuses already ...

The current statu quo is that Azyr was never breached, there only was Chaos Cultists coming in with the Age of Chaos refugees before the gates of Azyr were closed (those were then destroyed by Sigmar himself and the established Order of Azyr and the newly founded Stormhosts, alongside some corrupted beasts that lived in Azyr since the Age of Myth). We know Eshin have Gnawholes in Azyr still.

Regarding Ulgu, it has never been completely conquered (there were still Malerion's dominions and Morathi's temples resisting), but was severely occupied and faced almost complete collapse prevented only by the constant guerrilla warfare by Malerion and Morathi, notably the "Cathtrar Dhule"

  2. SIGMAR LIED

He lied about Stormcast being Eternals, about Skaven not existing, about Azyr being Safe !

I'm so hyped. So. So. HYPED.

Also love the look of that City, hope we get scenery of intact buildings. And I hope we'll see Azyr being mapped AND invaded by Skaven.

BTW maybe the Stormcast Statues with Wings are the new look of Prosecutors ?!

Maybe...this is a Silent People Underworlds Warband!?

Nurgle Daemon vs Silent People next Underworlds Starter Set (Adepticon Reveal ?) would be quite a disappointment to me, but why not ? Still, that skeletal feet decidedly looks Ossiarch to me.

I remember clearly that one of previous gw designers (Cavatore iirc?) said that before making ogre kingdoms one of the other "ideas" was a humanoid insectoid army crossed with japanese elements so it's not the first time gw is thinking for the fantasy system a new insectoid race.

BTW I remember that rumor too (It came alongside the "Allies Contingents" Fake Rumors on Warseer, at the time of the real Hastings and Harry !). The Firebelly was said to have such insect relic on him (that blue head) :

Looks like Katakros might end up becoming the main character of Death this edition, given him giving out orders during DB4 to halt expansion and take up defenses and this most recent White Dwarf segment featuring Karash, his Liege-Immortis.

    Very interesting, thanks !

Dual box Nurlge Daemons vs Ossiarch incoming, then.

The vision Karash and Katakros suffer appears Nurgly : Four Maws, three Eyes - trilobe of Nurgle (4+3 = 7), amorphous laughters, etc.

Also, lots of potential Nurgle and Ossiarch Rumor Engines. And this is probably a Morghast Hero feet resting on a PLAGUEBEARER SKULL 100%

  5. Everyone, the article mentions something secret coming from WARHAMMER MACHANDISE STORE, not main GW !!!

    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/03/04/introducing-warhammer-relics-the-official-warhammer-merchandise-festival/

"A certain somebody is coming up to a major milestone, and you can pitch into the celebrations with a stuffed box of exclusive merchandise commemorating his achievement. Quite what’s in it is something we’re keeping close to our chest, but all will be revealed soon over on the Warhammer Merchandise store…"

Bring on more Warcry GW! Still 2 unrevealed warbands left this edition, so hurry up and release the revealed ones already!

I can't wait to see these warbands. I am so happy with how is Warcry going.

Warcry has been my favourite game so far

Me too. Warcry for me is THE top GW game of the post-AOS era, aesthetic- and rules-wise.

Next season, GW should even the kits that are like KT and Chameleons/Gorgers (i.e., kits for a "proper" new AOS/40k unit, including skirmish options), and "bespoke" Warcry kits (its creativity shared with Underworld for crazy new concepts).

And I'm sure we'll get a Catacombs 2D game mode again.

Speaking of the end of current season, I'm looking forward for the future Chaos warbands hopefully announced at Adepticon 2024 (surely at least one of the last two mystery warbands :P).

I'm really curious how many of the new resins they are making

The only explanation is that GW drastically under produced TOW kits. They currently have limited allowance production capacity (new factory shenanigans), and they under-estimated the demand level of their target audience.

They probably thought that between Grognards with established armies (some of them distrusting GW) and new Customers (in part Total War Warhammer enthusiasts, i.e. not an "already hobbyists" demography), TOW would not meet the level of demand* of other "brand new" GW games. Same with Legion Imperialis, apparently, probably considered to be too "niche".

    * Everyone agrees that TOW is hitting hard the nostalgia button - that effect will die off when TOW is around one year old I guess -, while not offering that many new models, i.e. vexing more than one people expecting more new/redesign kits, Cathay and mostly, Kislev.

  8. GO SAVIOURS OF CINDERFALL, GO And great to see DBV and the Spearheads!

Very tempted by the stand alone Warcry terrain - the Pylon for a Seraphon Board, or the Elder Gnarloak (Gnarlmaw-ization ?). It will of course depend on the price...

GLORIOUS werekin-skinwolf-chaos spawn DIRECTYL going to Warcry / Warhammer Quest !

That's incredibly high level sculpts by the way, the Rider Chieftain almost on par with the Harbinger Of Decay

I really like the Darkoath concept. And I trust Whitefangs, New Year teaser and remaining Rumor Engines that we are soon gonna get a proper AOS, Marauders replacement kits form them in DB6.

BTW I love that GW is using the main AOS narrative for mixing medias like Warhammer Plus and Black Library to produce bespoke characters models for the like of Blacktalon, Callis & Toll, and The Darkoath Brand (Gotrek, Drekki and the cool Withcher Vampire guy also comes to mind).

P.-S. ; cool backstory for the "smith guy" in the Darkoath warband, Dendrel Direbrand, aka a relative to Vandus himself : https://ageofsigmar.fandom.com/wiki/Direbrand_tribe

Seems easy to convert into a cool Stormcast.

You mean Fyreslayers. That custode is so tiny. And the new Codex cover ? YUCK

Even the Ork has an ugly face (in the non-Orkish sense of the terms).

The Gnomes are funny if quite un-Warhammery in many ways.

Well, pretty disappointing day even if I expected nothing.

Good point : the Darkoath Chaman 😍😍😍

  12. What a disaster.

The other day I was trying to convince myself not to get the next AOS Launch box, because of current backlog (even if I played Skaven in WFB 8th ed. and in Mordheim, and even if I collect Stormcast - especially the Relictor and Questor kinds...).

Was very proud of myself and then BANG, a leak, another cool Skaven artillery-contraption (still looking like a traditional, post-WFB 7th ed.-Skaven kit) and here I am, mind racing with new Skaven Skyre army ideas :P

    Spoiler

.... Maybe I'll just get a smaller starter set variant after launch ? ....

    • Bel'akor Chaos Legionaries kill a Varangard member.
    • There are mentions of a traitor Varanguard member called Vorak Gul, from Airidian. He is part of the Eighth Circle.
    • Vorak and the Legionaries have a plan to steal some weapons, but the Lady of Ruin finds out about this plot.
    • The Lady of Ruin has black armour decorated with gold details. Her spear is of a magmatic orange colour.
    • The Lady of Ruin defeats them all without a problem. One of his attacks consists of a fire coming from her spear that dilutes the flesh and bones from their opponents until they turn into dust.

Yeah in Spear of Darkness they don't kill a Varanguard, just a Chaos Warriors with the Mark of the Everchosen. Because the story insist on the other characters being Varanguard : Gul and the "Lady of Ruin".

Also, the spear beam makes their flesh mutate or melt (not turn to dust). Which could have cool effect in terms of rules, like creating a Chaos Spawn if you suffer mortal wounds from the spear ranged attack.

It's also worth mentioning that 1. it confirms the links between the Varanguard, its "Marshal" the Lady of Ruin and the Nurgle Harbingers knightly Order, and the future action taking place in Ghyran (from DB1) and 2. that Archaon and the Lady of Ruins actually KNOW that Be'lakor is corrupting the Eight Circle of the Varanguard.

  14. Unpopular opinion maybe but I'm all for a strong divergent aesthetic between AOS and TOW (as I love both settings and aesthetics).

What I want from 4th edition is consolidation of the lore, geography and general feeling of the setting. For exemple I recently re-read the Malign Portents short stories with the new Cities of Sigmar models and general look in mind. We need a cohesive look for our universe, even more so now that TOW exists again.

Beast of Chaos will always remain in the AOS Setting as "Chaos Mutants" anyway, even if they get removed as a playable AOS (the game) Army - just as they exist in 40k (with models in Warhammer Quest Blackstone Fortress, Necromunda and Kill Team - not just a whole 40k army).

Spiderfangz, Gitmob, Bonespliterez, Dark Elves... Those I'm not sure. Ogors and Gloomspite Gitz have the potential to get even more AOS-ified, so no problem from their side. Gloomspite though are iconic both for TOW and AOS, just like Slaves to Darkness (which got a new Range for AOS and an apparently re-released 7th ed. WFB range for TOW).

BTW did I say we need a map of Azyr and some intact Azyrite Buildings ?

@Whitefang back me up I'm fine with scenery in Starter Set (I guess not in Launch Box ?) but then current Starter Set already contains such buildings...

These were the fully built buildings you can see in the CoS battletome.

    Believe what you want though!

I'm really gutted by the way. How can we inhabit the Mortal Realms without full buildings to represent the Cities of Sigmar ?!

It was one of the few worldbuilding elements needed to complete the setting (with that map of the Realm of Azyr I'm constantly requesting...).

Do you know @Whitefang@Whitefang back me up if there is ANY hope to get them with the new scenery surely coming with 4th edition ?????? 😞

  16. I'm seriously debating getting my Chaos Dwarfs and Chaos Daemons armies on bigger square bases to be TOW-compatible...

I've amassed a few kits for Daemons and WoC at the end of 8th Edition, and used some in AOS (and 40k). I wanted to see if TOW was any good, and either go back to WFB 6, 7 or 8 with my Fantasy backlog, or go full-TOW.

Now, for Legacy factions, it doesn't change anything to be TOW-compatible, does it ? I prefer bigger bases, and the lists (both official and legacy) have great options. I can still play older WFB versions (if need be), and now every army is more or less "on the same page" (for the time being) ...

    What do you think?

    Doesn't make any sense.

The project was always going to be "more than just humans factions" : we had Orcs and Khemri arts since the very early developments (alongside Bret and Empire), even Khemri Memes when the game was first announced.

Khemri can't have been "rushed" : they have more works put into them than Bret in terms of rescuptling (3rd vulture, inside of the Soul Casket, etc.) and Orcs for plastic ; the big dragon was started at least 2-3 years ago according to its sculptor on Instagram (the one who disliked the Sand Vulture).

The Kislev early contents is easily explained by the Total War release.

Aww no when was the first time?

It happens sometimes with WarCom article. Also, the recent Loremaster episode on Ushoran & CO. kinda spoiled the whole Dawnbringer book 4 storyline - cf. the thread on that topic here on TGA (the Friday short stories just confirm the lore presented on WH+)...
