As @Skabnoze said, between how the 40k FAQ was handled and the "Necroquake" fluff bit from yesterday ID article, I d'like to rethink the whole "new edition" business : 1. In June : we may have a new Nighthaut army ; a new Magic supplement with the Necroquake spell effect (the big skull-shaped purple magic ball) and new Stormcast Wizards. Maybe coming in a boxed set ala Blightwar (then called Souls War, coming along the eponym novel - note that on Amazon.de they reversed back to the old "not final" book cover). 2. In July, we will get the first AOS big FAQ, as said here : https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/01/29/warhammer-age-sigmar-faqs-new-model/ So the rumored changes to the core rules may happen with this FAQ like in 40k, and not in a "new rulebook". What do you all think ? (I still hope we'll get 1 new magic supplement, 1 new main book, 1 true new starter set with then 2 new armies - but it looks less and less likely )

Haha, I almost commented too on the dreaded "Spanish rumors" of old Warseer I agree with you about the confusion, it's (maybe) either people misunderstood new edition with new magic supplement, or we'll get indeed (in a strange order) lots of different thing this summer (which is cool) ! BTW, I know for example the Battletomes in French are soft back, and the End times books were re edited in soft back too for us latine speaker (IIRC French, Spanish, Italian editions) - but does it really make sense that a 168 pages magic expansion ends up soft back ? Even the Malign Portents campaign book (the size of some battletome) is Hardback even in French...

So that rumor is from a comment on a Shadespire Spanish blog, right ? Very interesting. Maybe as @Gaz Taylor and @Chikout said, then we will get : - A Magic supplement + Wizard Stromcast (thus not needing a proper battletome for their rules). - A Nighthaunt army release (Black Coach + Battletome, etc.). - A Deathmasque/Forgebane/Blightwar-style box with those 2 new armies in June, alongside Soul Wars. - A new Shadespire starter set, or two warbands based on those 2 new armies. - The GHB 2018 in August. I'd be fine with that really ! (Even if I'd prefer as @LLV said : a new AOS main book with "new" / reorganized rules and new proper Starter set with snap fit / easy to build models (+ magic supplement + 2 new Battletomes + Shadespire + maybe new scenery).

Yeah Syvaneth aren't Aelves (rulwise nor fluffwise), but they are inheritor (algondisde Wanderers) - at least thematically - of the Wood Elves ; they kind of fit the the same niche, and the Tree-Revenant are the only unit directly influenced by the elvish part of the Wood Elves (the Protectors in the fluff). Between the Daughters of Khaine, the Idoneth Deepkin, their Sylvaneth cousin, and all the Alves of the Free cities factions, I can't see 1 (or 2) new aelves army this year - at best in 2019 algonside maybe a Slaanesh release (because they are strongly linked together in the fluff).

Well I'm still not on the same page as you about the "new edition" ! I really think (or hope ? Maybe it's just one of those "I want to believe" kind of moment ) that there will be a true "new edition", at the very least a true new starter set (so not blightwar style) in June. However... As you said, we really should / need to start to see news about June for AOS (obviously IF it's gonna be big!). Warhammer Fest should be on point (read : the very last occasion) to start the teasing of the lets say "changes" AOS will undergo in June ! Of course it's the enthusiasm speaking but I'd really want to see previous like we got for 40k 8th (little weekly articles, trailers, etc.) last year ... EDIT : in fact, given the rumors (around 15-20 June) and Souls War release date (6 June), the AOS Open day should happen AFTER the new edition / changes / starter set / new minis we'd get in June ...

IIRC form the last BL Weekender, the Nick Horth book is called "Cannis and Toll : Shilvershard" in English and is a sequel trilogy to City of Secrets The Soul Wars cover is amazing. I can't wait for more. Also, I think it's from Igor Sid, I really like this guy : https://www.artstation.com/sidwill He did some cool Legions of Nagash and Malign Portents artworks (so he is familiar with ghosts ) as well as some very inspiring Cities of Sigmar artworks (Hammerhal, Firestorm) ; the battle on the SW cover seems to unfold in a city of Order (big statues, archways, etc.) - I hope it means not-ruin Order scenery too algonside Nighthaunt and Wizcast ! BTW now that we have a new Magic supplement coming soon, Stormcast Wizards-Priests seems pretty fitting.... EDIT : the top of the SCE staffs (anvil and lighting ?) match the logo on the second Shadespire card we saw at Adepticon !

Maybe 40k 8th was a bigger and riskier move to make for GW (i.e. the AOSification of the 40k ruleset and the advancement of the story line) so it needed a carful and full-time investment marketing ? Even if it is indeed a new edition (AOS 2.0) I guess the changes won't be as big as WFB-->AOS or 40k 7th --> 40k 8th, so it won't need such a big marketing campaign. I still think we'll get to see more news about the Raw Magic Unleash and the Dead rising in Shyish teasers quite soon - those 2-3 events are the right place to do so.

Yes, due for this Autumn, this set is yet another hint a of a proper AOS 2.0 this summer, just like last yeah 40k 8th. brought out new 40k tactical objectives ! (Note the new logo on the set but not on the Ghyran one). @Chikout yes I too can't see them in 2018, but 2019 seems entirely possible. I hope we'll also see the Grotbag Scuttlers one day. A end-of-the-year 2018 Slaanesh release could be a good transition between 2018's Malign Portents narrative arc and a 2019 Fate of Slaanesh's new arc (as the Slaanesh release could happen without giving away the God's whereabout, just as we already have Hosts of Slaanesh and 3 sub factions rules without Her/Him). Later in 2019 we'll get Shadowkin and Lightkin aelves. Alas, with the Emperor's Children and Fulrigm rumors out there it will probably be first a 40k-only release as you say. A new Boxed set / boxed game with new buggy etc. Remember the Orkish wheel Rumor engine ?

2018's gonna be awesome right ? Side note : I would put Orks and Genestealers Cults in the "highly likely" category : so far we only have the 4chan schedule saying Orks in June (schedule already not entirely on track anymore - Faiet reported educated guesses and obvious changes), and no words on GSC. The French rumormongers have said Gorkamorka summer and Orks in December. The scenery bundles are "confirmed" too, pic related, as well as the new Stormcast (see the Shadespire card logo and pointy hat SCE artwork). I agree with @Tonhel we should see another "big" army end part of 2018, probably Slaanesh (but it's maybe only 40k), but the Nighthaunt and SCE release will be bigger than 2-3 kits (because Shadespire and/or Starter set).

From the warscoll, it's complete name is Eidolon of Mathlann, Aspect of the Storm (with the spear and the hook). The other one may be Eidolon of Mathlann, Aspect of the Deep or something like that...

Yes that's what the text means. I think all the old Elve gods (inc. Mathlann) are very dead, but unlike Khaine (because of Morathi), their old powers can be drawn upon, given times, rituals and sufficient worship.

A @Gaz Taylor and @Turgol you seem the think that Malign portents will lead to the escape of Slaanesh (because hints in the fluff and rumors on Twitter, right ?) I must say I can't really see that happends : Malign portents will lead to a cataclysm indeed, but that is the completion of Nagash's great work of rebuilding the black PyramidS power syphon using Shysian realmstones*. The Starter set and Souls war novel is apparently Death vs Stormcast centered because of that. Slaanesh inevitable escape is such a big event, needing at least 3 army releases (Hosts of Slaanehs, Shadowkin, Lightkin) - I cannot see it steal the show of Nagash's great work (at least this year, we'll see the transition with the new Fate of Slaanesh narrative arc after MP, in 2019). Of course I may be wrong - I should re-read the Aelves fluff ; with their souls stealing business, they are by all mean linked to Nagash business in this way at least. I can't wait to read about Teclis in the Idoneth Deepkin BT !! *Of course, one of the side effect of the ritual's completion may be Slaanesh's escape. In fact, IMO Slaanesh let himself trapped (fooling Tzeentch, Khorne and the Aelves gods in the process) because he/she/it "liked" that (like Fulgrim style in Horus Heresy).

The CP/S system for AOS2.0 may just be a generalization of the MP system, but working with the general instead of the Harbingers. I'm sure the changes won't be to drastic.

Yeah ... That's why I said I was a bit sad she was under NDA or whatever. That being said, I'm sure she still have info like back in good ol' time. She's just not telling on WoS, only a cryptic hint here and there (just like above about Fulgrim). Also, the Emperor's Children aren't a true faction either yet, just like the World Eater. By releasing EC first, GW can follow with a proper Slaanesh Daemons full release and a "Hosts Of Slaanesh" Battletome (which isn't really possible for Khorne, because Khorne Bloodbound and Blades Of Khorne), so big impact for AOS like Disciples of Tzeentch and Maggotkin. About the sources, there is in fact some very active and reliable sources around here : - French Wargame Studio on YouTube (100% correct so far, since Autumn 2017 IIRC) and other sources on Warhammer forum (you need to speak French though ) those may or may not be linked to Temouloun / Heachi. - Thebiggesthat : right about GUO, Nurgle Beast and Blightlords - now announcing Fulgrim and AOS Keeper on Dakka Dakka for November. - Moonstone, and other good souls on TGA. - Sometimes voices on FB, 4Chan, B&C (like Atia), etc. But I agree that the days of Harry and Sad Panda (RIP), and now Lady Atia and Haechi, seems long gone. Still glad we have WarCom.

Yeah, I hope we get that again for Slaanesh. Note that apparently Nurgle was due Summer 2017 (when Blightwar came out), so more or less 2 months after Death Guard (but then GW got the technical / energy problems in Nottingham we know about). So the "end of the year window" may be a coincidence, but surely the "40k Legion + Daemon Primarch followed closely by AOS Battletome + Greater Daemon release" pattern seems solid. As a Chaos player I cannot wait anyway.
