  1. Hello folks and welcome to the Painting Contract for March 2020!

If you don't know the rules they are:

Each month you post an amount of models that you agree to try to paint/build/convert/sculpt. This can be terrain or models for Age Of Sigmar, Warcry, Blood Bowl, Blitz Bowl, Warhammer Underworlds, Warhammer Quest Silver Tower / Shadows Over Hammerhal, or Gorechosen.

On the 28th of the month the contract closes and you can then post your progress images so that they can be critiqued, shared and boasted about. It is a great way to get involved in the community and to get inspiration.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress!

    Enjoy!

  3. Hello folks and welcome to the Painting Contract for January 2020!

It’s the first contract of the year! Come, finish off your work from last year, or paint up the new stuff that you received over the holidays! You can start a new army, or finish your old one! Get that terrain started, or finish your battle or kill zone! Square bases? Round Bases? No Bases! Bring your resin, your plastics, your metal, the options are many! Show off the stuff you build, convert or paint... we want to see it all!

All are welcome around the painting table, and we have spots available for everyone, newcomers and seasoned veterans alike!

    Pin the models.

    Drill a hole in base.

Superglue down and fold the pin under the base. (Optional: superglue folded pin)

    Basically what @Vasshpit said...

Definitely pinning. I end up supergluing the pin into the base as well...

I will add, If you’re going to use paper clips, don’t use your plastic sprue cutters. It will totally destroy them.

Use wire cutter specific clippers. (Typically from a hardware store)

here’s a good link about the process:

    http://www.tinyworlds.co.uk/blog/pinning-miniatures-to-resin-bases/

Miliput and resin bases are basically going to be the same process.

    Hi Vasshpit,

I've actually been considering what you suggested over the last couple of days, as others have suggested this as well. I believe I will try and save them😀, but I've never had much luck trying to strip anything. But I guess that depends on what's being used for the stripping process, and this time I'm more informed.

    Hope to do this soon!

Plastics tend not to strip quite as nicely as metals due to the caustic nature of the really good paint stripping agents. (Simple green is okay...)

Mainly because they have a propensity to soften and melt the plastics. 😑

Definitely test your stripping methodology on a mini that you’re not as attached to ...

Knight of shrouds done, depending on how much time I have this weekend I may also finish one more.

Not so sure about the sword,. Quiet happy what you can do with one layer of Warp lightning, but for this it might look better with a "normal" steell/rust kind look. Any thoughts?

The green on the sword aligns with the green on the base giving you a triangle... sword to front flames... front to back flames ... back flames to sword.

    It works rather well indeed.

Might work well with some brighter hilighting on the green  ... but it’s pretty awesome ...

Night shift productivity helped me reach my goal of 1 model :D

Interesting warrior unit you have ... they must be from the Realm of Chaos ... I hear they get all wonky like that ;) something about time being relative or something!

And to think I’m Still trying to get stuff primed ....

  10. So... completed building the Grymwatch and the Sepulchral Guard (... they’ve been biding time in their box quietly since season 1 ... minus the universal cards ...)

Grabbed a small spray tent to do priming in (so I don’t get overspray on stuff and need to keep around a cardboard box for it.)

Turns out that the Beastgrave terrain that I thought was “modular” isn’t so much ... but I’ll get it built anyway... maybe even get it primed ... B|

I’m still stuck in a hobby rut with little time and no motivation; I will keep the goals I couldn’t achieve from last month and hopefully my motivation come back.

Paint Untamed Beasts; been around 95% done for three weeks.

Build and Paint Corvus Cabal; untouched.

Build and Paint a Ravaged Lands set; Mausoleum set is built, basic stone colors are done but nothing for details yet.

Completely with you on the motivation issue.

    It’s definitely a thing.

Take a breather, roll it back to just the building side ... get some games in... See how stuff rolls.

We’ll save ya a space here at the table.

The members were awesome and saved me a spot.

Well, september was not the month for me, but october looks better from a distance. Building will be the name of the game this month

    Build/finish 15 pistoleers

    Build/finish 15 outriders

    Build/finish 10 dark riders

    Build another three demis

    Build rider for big griffin

    Build Amber mage on griffin

    That's one army.

    If I have time:

Build rocket battery on mortar base and give it crew

Change old dwarf warrior to cogsmith

    Build another rocket/volley combo.

That ... is a whole table-worth of work.

40 horse or smaller sized models and 5 bigger units.

    We’re rooting for you!
