  1. "The sons of the maw have come to eat. Behold the gluttonous beast. Thou shalth eat to live, not live to eat. Slay these sinful abomination!"
Last words of Thorvin the Favoured which he addressed to his followers, before he and his band of were devoured to the last man/beast/spawn.

So, the background of Ogor warband is that they have eaten the Chaos champion Thorvin The Favoured and have been cursed by Thorvin's God.

    Here's a longer bit:

Globb has always been an unusual ogor. Where most of his kin are primarily concerned with the quantity of their dinner, he is obsessed with quality. As an ogor-calve he learned that human meat is more succulent than stringy gnoblar flesh. This ignited not only his appetite, but also his curiosity to discover more tastes. He discovered not all manfood is equal. A well-fed young noble is a delicacy where the bloated mass of a nurgle follower is something to be avoided.
Globb made it his personal goal to taste all that can be tasted in the mortal realms and quickly became a prominent butcher within his tribe. His quest brought him to the eight points, where he and his gluttonous brethren ran into a chaos warband of Thorvin the favored. All seemed well as the group of tasty snacklings were quickly defeated.

Globb was munching on one of the fine tasting legs of Thorvin when he heared a whisper in the wind: "Let the glutton become a freak." Immediately Globb and his following transformed in a terrible way and they have roamed the mortal realms in their altered shapes ever since. Always searching for a way to undo their curse and, ofcourse, searching for their next meal.

Here's a first (very crappy) picture of the butcher Globb the Gourmand and 2 ratlars.

    GlobbAndRatlars.png

Globb has been cursed with a short stature (and the belly that goes with it) and without arms, so he cannot wield his favorite cleaver anymore. To most humans, he is now as harmless as a gnoblar. This, of course, frustrates Globb greatly.

The ratlars are cursed gnoblars which nibbled at the leftovers of Thorvin (the toes that Globb couldn't be bothered with).

Globb is build with an ogor leadbelcher head, an ogor cleaver, skaven clanrat legs and other leftover bits. The ratlars are gnoblar heads on giant rat bodies (non GW).

    Some sources of inspiration.

Absolutely could. Ogors are great models in general to convert. In the AoS mawtribes groups there's someone who sculpted pig heads on his Ogors.

Scroll through the pictures and you'll find it soon enough :)

I found the Hogors from McGibs. Cool! That's what I have in mind.

    Thanks!

Have you thought about using some ghouls body and gnoblar faces to make them look more like scavengers and close to the scraps?

Yes, I have thought about that and considered that shortly. The ghoul bodies don't really say 'gnoblar' to me.

First few models have been created. :-) Two giant rat bodies with gnoblar heads stealing food and one Bosch walking head ogor butcher (count as gnoblar). Pictures will follow.

  3. So, after a long AOS break, I want to take a shot at making the (in my opinion) comical ogors and gnoblars into something more AOS28-like. For me,  that means more emphasis on flesh-gorging brutes with pathetic gnoblars scurrying around, stealing the scraps.

The theme I'm thinking about is the sin of gluttony as depicted in medieval art. A band of ogors cursed by a god for feasting on the flesh of it's champion.

I'm thinking of creating a small warband for Warcry or Mordheim.

Ideas I have: ogor with pig head, obese ogor, ogor with mouth in belly, gnob feeder, ratlars (hnob rats), gnoblars with huge cutlery to feed ogors, gnob pig rider, gnob carrying plate of meat, rhinox beast-of-burden

What do you think? Could this work? Any more ideas?

"Struggling to gain enough material to craft the more mordern suits often seen among the Kharadron Overlord major sky-port´s companies, the akranouts of Elgi-bar, the beast riding city in Ghur, are known for thier traditional equipment. Many of their armours hail back to the days when the ancestors of todays Kahadron Overlords fled from the Age of Chaos, and thier weapons are cruder than the modern weaponry the sky-fleets are reknowned for. This does by no means they are less effective as thier mordern counterparts, being made from old proved duardin craftsmanship, they are as deadly as any aether powered artillery".

First published for my blog here at TGA, I think these old-fasion Overlords also have a place here in the grim theme of AoS28.

  5. My enter for the eclipse competition is done.

Georgius was to be reforged achter being slain by a demon in the chaos realm. A piece of his essence was clawed away by the demon when Sigmar's lightning reclaimed the fallen stormcast eternal. After his reforging, Georgius became a knight questor, searching the realms for his missing piece of essence, slaying the demons he meets in his quest.

  6. It has been a productive couple of days.

My demon inquisitrix has a few more additions to her retinue; a banner bearer and musician and an advisor (who I see as a smart but weak and feeble demon, scared of getting hurt).

And a group shot of the lot.

And now to get some paint on my entry for the Eclipse competition from Bruticus

  7. @nicromancer great background and a cool witch hunter. I really like the red symbols on her skin.

    @Morghot very nice dreg!

@Gavroche I really like the pose of your model, but I'm not sure the head fits with the rest of the model. The armour and weaponry give me a (chaos) warrior feel and the head is not so warrior-ly for me.

Here are 2 additions to the warband of Haedewien, my demonic inquisitrix. A one-eyed head on legs; Thiederic. He senses disturbances (traces of order) in the chaos plane and is the seeker of the warband. The big guy, simply known as head-taker is doing the dirty work (executions) for Haedewien.

    Hope you like it.

  8. After some weeks of viewing this great topic, I've decided to join in. I'm no writer and English is not my native language, but, to keep into the AOS28 spirit, I still wanted to write up some background.

    ---

With Sigmar and his Stormcast Eternals on the offensive, bringing the fight to the very doorstep of Chaos, an even bigger threat to the pantheon of Chaos is emerging. Not from without, but from within.

In every realm, the Chaos Gods are loosing followers. Sigmarite cults are slowly growing, sowing seeds of order in societies and tribes once firmly dedicated to Chaos.

Chaos is fighting this new threat with the fiercest of dedications. Demonic servants of the pantheon are waging a secret war, trying to root out the followers of the false God. The very survival of Chaos is at stake!

    ---

Mhogh'tor sits in his tent. The proud hunter allows himself a moment to let his guard down to let mind wander. For generations, the tribe of Mhogh'tor followed the path of Khorne, the eternal hunter.  Life was good on the great beastplanes. With game aplenty and their enemies crushed, the path of the hunter seemed like the one true path.

It seemed like a lifetime ago. Twenty moons ago, armoured, hammer wielding giants which came from the sacred gates of Ghrakh. At first, these giants looked like het another foe to best. The tribe had brought down great beasts and fought the biggest Orruk tribes.
Things went wrong, however. Many kinsmen fell to the giants' hammers and his tribe would have been slaughtered, but a choice was offered. Join or die. Mhogh'tor was not afraid to die, but the offer to follow an, apparently even mightier God than the great hunter was a straightforward one to a hunter who respected strenght and prowess. So the choice was made and he and his kin denounced the eternal hunter and pledged to Sigmar.

Mhogh'tor is not alone anymore. A thin figure has, somehow, entered his tent. A woman, but at the same time not quite a woman. Too large to be human. Mhogh'tor sizes her up and does not considers her/it a danger. "Who are you and what do you want?" A large, cyclopedean head on legs then appears from behind the green robes of this figure. The head hisses softly; "you're a heretic. We have surrounded your camp. You die today by the hands of my mistress."
Mhogh'tor smiles, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword while standing up. "I've done battle against Sigmar's champions. You and your mistress don't scare me, demon."
The next moment, a talon from the mouth of the one-eyed  creature pierces Mhogh'tor's belly.

My first (and main) model is Haedewien, demonic inquisitrix tasked to cleanse chaos from law and order.
An ancient, fanatical demon with the ability to mutate and reshape the flesh of her victims with her second pair of hands (and yes, this idea is totally stolen from WilhelMiniatures and his Crimson Queen).

    Hope you like this post.
