  1. This will be the first list I test: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Mortal Realm: Aqshy Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (500) - General - Celestine Hammer - Command Trait: Staunch Defender - Artefact: Ignax's Scales - Mount Trait: Storm-winged Drakesworn Templar (420) - Tempest Axe Lord-Castellant (120) Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell: Azyrite Halo Lord Kroak (430) -> will be (320) - Allies 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield Everblaze Comet (100) Umbral Spellportal (70) Quicksilver Swords OR Prismatic Pallisade (30) Total: 2110 / 2000 -> will be (2000) Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 430 / 400 -> will be (320) Wounds: 83 I dread to say Starcast might be approaching netlist territory (not the best or a guaranteed winner but there are a large chunk of armies that'll hate this)
  2. I am thinking of taking the incantor and the umbral spell portal, and then those 30 pts over are variable. Palisade maybe? Creating obstacles and LoS tricks are handy in this list.
  3. I'm waiting for the faq but my list is probably going to gain a kroak and a few endless spells. Mirror looks like a no brainer. You don't really have to worry about giving away the spells in round activation as you've a 4 cast wizard to dispel what may end up being a threat. Kroak is an easy paint job too lol pity It's fine cast Ooh! If you face a Seraphon cast list (we will be seeing those) you'll have kroak on dragon 'roids to unbind all the enemy kroaks casts. Lol
  4. Staunch tops them all. Once you add in a drake and Castellant with a slann (I like kroak for his other spam spell) you would be further rewarded for going more towards the starcast build philosophy. but given I'm biased I'd suggest that ppl experiment with a bunch of stuff. We've really not much else to do prior to a tome update. I think my double drake starcast list with prime out kroak in could be very bad news for some armies
  5. As always I believe a bunch of stuff could be great and needs testing. Sadly I don't have the time or play the required amount of games to do it all! PS I like the idea of coining "stormkroak" as a list type
  6. Ability reads: "Missile weapons can only be used to target an IDONETH DEEPKIN unit with this battle trait if it is the closest visible enemy unit." The only conditions are closest and visible. So the crawlers are shafted imo
  7. Hmmm... Lord Kroak is cheaper than the Prime now? And perhaps opens up a new variation of the list: In a DoubleDragon Starcast list he's on a +3 to cast with 4 casts... His Celestial Retribution is casting on 4+ 5+ then 6+
  8. Hmm will need to be seeing these new seraphon scrolls before doing any playing in scrollbuilder... /edit actually the scroll is further down and it looks pretty badass for 260 in a starcast list. Fitting it in is cutting out a prime though. Unless you go single drake but I like the +2 to cast if allying in this big lizard.
  9. Let us know how it goes! I'm hoping to get to a tourney next sat but its looking dicey. If I get to go Ill take Starcast of some form or other.
  10. By which you mean each takes 1 d3 roll correct? Whereas if it were the case that 1 d3 covered all units, it'd be "Every unit within that point suffers d3 mortal wounds"
  11. Looking forward to points costs and warscrolls for (any) new order wizards. The Arcane Lineage ability is a +1 (+2 fordouble drake lists) to FRIENDLY WIZARDS so no keywording to exclude non - SC.
  12. You're makin me want to get ballistas painted
  13. Hey, boneheads, if its only "wimmenz" that see better colours, how come all you menz can see and appreciate the art she does? Where's the studies on that? You should all be "whatever, looks like a blue and pink cat, who gives a fudge, where's beer?" Why are there men judging painting contests at all? Am I taking crazy pills here or is this like skipping out on the massive fact men are looking at and appreciating these magic invisible colours? Really though, it's a great rendition of that model. She paints great. I can see that. 'nuff said.
  14. I've a small tournament on Saturday but there are a bunch of new players so I am taking a Nurgle list instead to try out the new WoE rules. I think its a good sign when I dont want to take my Starcast list as newbies will be crushed I'm a bit sad I don't get to test a new list variant out, but I'm kinda happy with a few I've tested already.
  15. I love horti lol, I know not many take him. I'm handicapped by a small collection but its my favourite painted army so I figured Id give it a whirl with my old favourite battalion and munificent wanderers
  16. Im taking this to a small tournament on Saturday: Allegiance: Nurgle - Host of Chaos: Munificent Wanderers Leaders Great Unclean One (340) - General - Bile Blade & Doomsday Bell - Command Trait: One Last Gift - Artefact: The Endless Gift - Lore of Virulence: Favoured Poxes Gutrot Spume (140) Horticulous Slimux (220) Sorcerer (120) - Artefact: Mucktalon - Lore of Malignance: Blades of Putrefaction Battleline 30 x Plaguebearers (320) 5 x Putrid Blightkings (160) 5 x Putrid Blightkings (160) Units 3 x Plague Drones (200) 3 x Nurglings (100) Battalions Fecund Rituculturalists (180) Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs Balewind Vortex (40) Malevolent Maelstrom (10) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 134 I've no expectations (Im v experienced with SCE but have only played Nurgle a few tournaments) but am happy to get a better grip of all the nurgley interactions. I've a feeling that we're getting a new book this year. Any tips for running the list? I'm thinking I'll hve the GUO rolling about at the centre of the pbs to try to soak up charges. I expect to get the blades cast off r1, but not get the drones into combat and have them killed off before I can succeed with blades again
  17. If I had 6 dracolines I'd try: Allegiance: Stormcast EternalsMortal Realm: AqshyCelestant-Prime (340)Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (500)- General- Celestine Hammer- Command Trait: Staunch Defender- Artefact: Ignax's Scales- Mount Trait: Storm-wingedLord-Castellant (120)Lord-Exorcist (120)- Spell: Azyrite Halo5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield5 x Liberators (100)- Warhammer & Shield6 x Evocators on Dracolines (520)- 3x Grandstaves- Lore of Invigoration: Celestial BladesEverblaze Comet (100)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 95 But I've never played the evocators on dracoline unit so I may not fully grasp how essential the LAoCD is. That's the list I'd start with whilst trialling them though.
  18. It is the main question with the list. Interestingly, when I play I haven't had to worry about controlling objectives a whole lot after a good 2 rounds of starcasting. Perhaps it is luck in the matchups I've had. The ones where I struggled most was against 6 stonehorns and a whole bunch of OBR. I do not fancy painting up 12 more but... I wonder if 5 x 3 Prosecutors with Javelins is something here. 15 extra bodies, good move (great), and outside 9" they do ok damage, because of the primes - which leads me to my main worry: I feel pushing the drops up that high is a bit risky
  19. This is all good stuff. After dialling in your ranges (at deployment and each time you move the dragon - you want to always have lantern and lineage in range. Ideally Azyrite Halo but maybe you're doing a repeat comet cast), overall army deployment is pretty important. You're playing an interesting game of poker as the enemy will often choose who goes first and I personally have found Starcast is one of the few lists where you want to deploy defensively and take turn 1. Usually you deploy aggressively if you want turn 1. The most common is to deploy defensively, give away turn 1 - let enemy come to you. So in that sense I am almost always given turn 1 and the enemy is often ready for their first hero phase - bunkered in a lovely explodable mass of flesh. But, until Starcast gets popular and ppl know (then I need to think more) you want to be ready for going first but not make it obvious you are going first so the enemy takes it, buffs their units and splits up. Basically I usually have castellant with gryph hound and LCoSD deployed cautiously for warding lantern if Im given r1 but out of reach of enemy threats if enemy takes r1. Ill have the caster (if solo) deployed out of range of all enemy casters (usually last model down) and in range of drake(s) arcane lineage buffs. I rarely fail to cast comet if given r1. If two casters I'd have one within walking distance of unbinding the comet r2 hero phase. This caster wouldn't be the comet caster. Comet range is wholly within 36 iirc and range 10 so 46 in effect. It is never out of range in my experience. Prime Ill have in the sky always. So that's 4 units on the ground (ish) and the rest I usually adapt to enemy list. With 4 on the ground and the prime aside, my 9 drop list can have the rest in the air to guarantee reaching objectives r1 (unless its like duality where I want one unit to move onto the obj and not deploy to count as in control of it at end of round). In the air is great for waiting until r3 to take undefended objectives. However, maybe I want a screen if its a fast aggressive list. Sometimes the libs are just roadbumps and 1 hero holds an objective as the opponent tries to get their head around their missing buff support. Sometimes I screen the rest of my army with my drakes (a strange but effective screen if the enemy wants to eliminate my other weaker supporting units first. Most of the action - your dream start - with this list is a great shooting phase r1 after a strong comet drop.
  20. Well we didn't establish the quality of the age, just that it is dawning and it is new.
  21. I think you've nailed it, it's the dawning of a new age, the age of cometcat lists
  22. IF they can dispell they are a very good addition to the list (without a LAoCD). They pack a bit of a punch, they throw out more mws, they are fast & they can dispell the comet or use another lore spell. They're a 10 wound (they lose wizard status at 1 model) crazy combat wizard.
  23. I love this idea it's a really interesting "boomerang" concept. One question - given their absurd movement (for SC) aren't they going to be able to get where they need to go anyway? And if you eliminate the right target first (the toughest), the 2nd on the target order shouldn't require as many buffs as it's less threat? This is one of the big strengths of a list like this for me. I'm sitting messing with Starcast lists just to give me an excuse to finish painting 15 Sequitors and get rid of the 15 libs but to do so I need a LA general and that's just a bad way to play the lists I make.
