  1. 7 wounds. heals 3. casts twice. death wizard. 7a nearly same output as vampire lord. 200 pts. can summon 140pts worth of ghouls or 130pts of horrors (imo their intended value, not point value) which they can then buff the hell out of. Hes great value. More importantly, When they released soul wars, they included 3 night haunt characters and 3 nighthaunt units. ALL OF THEM made it into the lon list. Carrion empire has Archregent, horrors, flayers, ghouls. I wouldnt be surprised if they are included in the LoN list.
  2. The +1 to bravery is game changing and will win you the game if you need 11 bravery to win and your guy is adjacent to the throne.
  3. Yeah, youre looking at 480 for the unit plus another 2-300pts support. Thats like a 700+pt unit. Of course its gonna delete stuff. one of the things i like about Nighthaunt is every unit is self sufficient. You put like a block of 150pt elites down and its happy to play in the corner by itself. Its not gonna do 700pts worth of horror damage, but it is happy to pull its own weight FeC is really streamlined into going deathstar and herostar.
  4. I like TopHats idea of stacking lord level heroes. Get as many Mounted GK and archregents as you can. I think it may be the only way to play them competitively since they need the rend. Id avoid flayers. I think they arent very good. Which leaves horrors and ghouls. They both are pretty average but can be buffed enough to be decent, the problem is you have to go all in on them and cant go half arsed.
  5. Im going to have to disagree with you there. We double pay for summons. we pay for our expensive units,, and we pay for courtiers. Prior to this, i didnt like the idea of taking in courtiers apart from either getting horrors to battleline or having horrors unit sizes 6+ (going for a specific build) With the new tome, you dont need courtiers to get horrors battleline, and having a courtier escorting 3 horrors is often not ideal because they will get deleted quite easily. We just have to pay the summon tax on our units for everything we do unfortunately. But it doesnt mean we have to commit all the way to full summoning. edit: to me, i feel like fec units suck unless you buff the hell out of it (excessively overpriced for chance to spend more points to synergize and get value). its going to be a deathstar type army.
  6. royal mordant flayer in hallowmourne. 1-2cp 32" + 2d6 charge. free hero phase move from batallion. 12 move run plus 1. 19 (use ca for run 6 if need) charge plus 1. 2d6 +1 horrors can do 22" + 2d6
  7. I was being sarcastic. I thought it was silly Fec didnt even get a unique named character.
  8. Guys, in a 2000pt game, which named character do you recommend we take?
  9. sacr Sacrament Legion ability allows an additional spell from lores of dead. Im more interested in knowing the purpose of the lord executioner. Doesnt seem very optimal
  10. which combo? Thats all your eggs in one basket general. Like i said before, one unit is going to hurt every turn. I feel like you need to give the mounted guy ethereal amulet as they can get easily focus fired down, that or some type of defense. Every army has some type of nasty 15-20w alphastrike. They are close to one turning Nagash whos 16w with a 4+ ward. A 14w 6+ ward save ghoul king can easily be removed by a lot of armies.
  11. attempt at list 2k infantry list GKTerrorgeist. +1 to scream mount trait. Ethereal amulet (summons knights) ArchRegent. (summons 20 ghouls) Haunt courtier. General. Decrepid coronet (Battleshock) Varghulf (hang around and help beef up ghouls and horrors as well as get reroll from Morgaunt) 2x6 Horrors 40 Ghouls abbatoir, Feeding frenzy free delusion, +1cp Morgaunt grand court strat - 2x6 Horrors and 40 ghouls are abbatoir and unbreakable. General hides in back and pops in to attack at opportune time. GKTerrorgheist can charge off and attack and hopefully get rerolls from Morghant court. Varghulf and general top up ghouls and 2x horror units. Feeding frenzy where they can. Arch Regent casts when he can. Thats 3 decent units and a mounted hero and some spell casting.
  12. Requires a Haunzer courtier (or varghul) which are also severely overpriced. Now that unit is around 300pts, and thats 2 rat ogre units which would destroy that unit in one turn. and that regen only happens if you get the opportunity, which may be difficult with priority rolls and the fact everyone hits so hard. Id say fec is like units overpriced by 25% on average, courtiers overpriced by 33% on average, abhorrants underpriced by 33% on average.
  13. i did a comparison with a couple of our units. Ghouls are the similar baseline as Plaguemonks. mv6, 2a 4+h 4+w 6+armor Ghouls have much higher bravery. Plaguemonks get an extra attack. the extra attack is far better than the bravery. Ghouls get an extra attack if they stack 20 guys. Monks get 2x extra attacks on chargg. Id say plaguemonks are distinctively better than ghouls with the extra attack vs leadership (inspiring presence is too prevalent). Neither unit gets easy buffs and require personal attention (mostly targetted. Plaguemonks are spammed in units of 10 for maximum efficiency. Ghouls are hopeless unless you get a big unit amd concentrate all your heroes on them. Id say plaguemonks are better than ghouls. Ghouls are 10pts. plaguemonks are 7pts. thats nearly 50% more expensive.. Horrors i did a comparison with Rag Ogors Horrors mv7 a3 h4 w3 r0 d2 Rat Ogors Mv 6 a4 h4 w3 r-1 d2 The rat ogors are 50pts, the horrors are 53pts. The rogors have more attacks, and rend, and are cheaper. The Horrors do however get access to easy and nice buffs. Buts its obvious they are severly overcosted as a unit by themselves and expected to be supported by heroes. id say horrors needs to go back down to 140pts, and ghouls down to 7pts. im also finding it very hard to take in courtiers. our abhorrants are critical to our army AND provide the buffs. The courtiers provide the healing which is auto in LoN. i dont see any other use for courtiers. I really like the idea of a specific courtier per unit to support it. I just dont think they do that now. The courtiers should have had the unit buffs on them, not the abhorrants. As for the summoning. this is what gave us the mess of fec. Its obvious gw wants abhorrants to summon, but the summon cost which we consider free is taxed off our unit costs and throws all our unit values out of whack. Unfortunately, i cant say we just have to wait for a book update because this is it now. Stack monsters and buff one unit. tldr: Ghouls should be 7pts. horrors 140, courtier should have buffs. summoning is a hot mess.
  14. Heirloom Medal of Madness from GMG "once per battle round, the bearer can use a command ability on their warscroll without a command point being spent, and they are treated as if they were a general when they do" courtier only Our courtiers dont have command abilities. and the word states "on their warscroll". Do we consider the allegiance command ability(ie feeding frenzy) on the warscroll of the courtiers?
  15. Read much? Im saying if someone at his skill level (not many, maybe 10) ran the proper LoB monster list and faced him he would probably lose. His list wasnt optimized. My argument was the fec list did NOT do him no favours and could have lost him the tourney. This was In context of people talking about fec is already winning and im saying its a big uphill battle and other lists do it better
  16. Native faction works better of course with synergies. But as a whole, the archregent is balanced as a fec unit. the fec pay extra on other stuff, and the archregent gets a discount. hes obviously undercosted by a lot and thats factored into the fec army balance as a whole. LoN can ally with him and get all the goodies without paying the other fec tax. He can summon 3 horrors, gain the +3 +4 to cast available to "death" wizards to cast the D3a spell on the horrors, then he has a spell cast available to cast endless at like +3 +4 and what not. I like running the sacrament batallion to get an extra cast with my necros to get off endless. He may be a better option now.
  17. I didnt say he was a poor general. I said bringing in a non-optimal mounted heroes list is going to bring disadvantages which means if he faces a similar skilled opponent and they have optimal list then he should be losing whereas if his list was optimal it would be closer. Once you get to a certain level everything counts.
  18. This is grimghasts all over again. Regents are probably fine in their enclosed circle army of FeC because the other units bare the cost. But you can ally up with them in LoN and get too many benefits. Imo. Ghouls should be 70/240. Horrors should have rend -1 and be 140pts. Flayers should have a 12" scream. D3A 4+ hit. mw. The problem with the upper tier FEC heroes like the archregent is the summoning. . "Free" units with heroes just messes up transparent point costs which are paid by other stuff.
  19. mounted heroes are still in. he ran essentially the LoB list minus a few things and got lucky with opponents as he would be disadvantaged against some armies. And horrible means its a poor effort/half arsed effort for a tome thats supposed to be concise and flexible and full of character. edit: also he ran ghoul patrol which is not happening anymore
  20. Gristle-what you call it is a good grand court. Giving mounted guy hit first to go with another hero means both attack first on the charge. Unfortunately, there is no way to alphastrike the hero and they have no good access to reroll hit. Fast-move court is also good. I agree the courts have major downsides. but the best thing of having only 3 unit choices is everything you field meets requirements for batallions and the batallions are amazing. So you should atleast buy one and get the free item. I dont like the flayer in hero phase batallion, its going to be very difficult to trigger as you dont want Flayers hanging around in combat for 3 turns. Easily the most powerful batallion for me is the Royal Mordants. Gives Flayers a 24/28" move or Horrors 14"/18" move. Alpha striking horrors look tourney ready the Archregent is broken and i see them being staple in optimized Legion of Nagash lists. As for the army, i feel like its a one trick pony still and horrible tome. D3A feeding frenzy. Thats all there is. Save the dispel for the D3a and let one unit feeding frenzy attack a turn. The rest of the units are insanely overpriced and pay for access to the aforementioned abilities. Its going to be easy to counter because its too predictable. I feel like if they gave flayers a proper shooting attack and horrors rend it would 3x more flexible.
  21. When i first saw the throne i was telling my friends FEC got an outhouse. The mans throne, a toilet. With the actual rules now released, its funny that the FEC heroes have to literally run up to it to dump out a unit is just icing on the cake.
  22. I really really hope they change Flayer to more standard hit/wound. Its very strong against some armies and absolutely useless against some others. For example, my friend plays order skinks. My 53pt flayer needs to roll a 10 on a single D6 to kill 1x 6pt skink. I would have trouble on 2D6, let alone having any chance on a D6. The two things i hope they do are change flayer screams, and give horrors rend.
  23. I just want to add my 2c about the GG v SKello v GrimGh comparison. I havent tried this, but i have a feeling that Glaivewraith Stalkers are a viable option too. They are somewhat similar in the offensive department. The key to this is the minimum unit size. Glaivewraith Stalkers (GS) can be taken in units of 4. This makes it a very difficult proposition against deathstars. who do they attack? how many attacks on each unit? they have 4w with 4+ save and if you dont kill the unit, it will be back full strength - if i get lucky with saves, they would have wasted attacks. If its just 40 skellos, a deathstar will clean up this unit with a massive pile of attacks and battleshock. Against MSU GS, they are going to have to find "enough" attacks to destroy each unit. Add to this the ability to slip in and out of combat and reroll attacks against any unit and they are flexible too.
  24. Where did you hear there is no way to boost past minimum size? How about normal deployed units? cannot add models to unit?
