  1. @Emmetation Sorry if this information is available somewhere, but I haven't found it so a couple of questions.

    - Starter set, there's several mentions of it, but no ETA, do we have one? (at least for the PDF version).

    - The core book mentions some pre-made characters available in the resources sections of the website, do we have an ETA for this?

Otherwise super pumped! I am going to try and set up a small party and hopefully we'll get some games in :D

But, that is not all, I have large plans for the future. This is the army I want to collect by the time I die (life will probably get in the way...😒)

The plans are unfinished but I will be updating them. Eventually there should be one per death army. The estimated points total should be around 100 000 points with around 5 000 models!!!

Here is the link to the spreadsheet.

Just looking at it makes me fell excited...

Love that you named all your units, I want to get around to do that for mine too :D

So, after a long AOS break, I want to take a shot at making the (in my opinion) comical ogors and gnoblars into something more AOS28-like. For me,  that means more emphasis on flesh-gorging brutes with pathetic gnoblars scurrying around, stealing the scraps.

The theme I'm thinking about is the sin of gluttony as depicted in medieval art. A band of ogors cursed by a god for feasting on the flesh of it's champion.

I'm thinking of creating a small warband for Warcry or Mordheim.

Ideas I have: ogor with pig head, obese ogor, ogor with mouth in belly, gnob feeder, ratlars (hnob rats), gnoblars with huge cutlery to feed ogors, gnob pig rider, gnob carrying plate of meat, rhinox beast-of-burden

What do you think? Could this work? Any more ideas?

Have you thought about using some ghouls body and gnoblar faces to make them look more like scavengers and close to the scraps?

That's awesome! Nice conversion, I like how much Nurgle you packed on it.

I am planning to put my warshrine on a thundertusk.  I haven't done a conversion before, wish me luck.

Hey ! Thanks , I am glad you like it :D

Good luck on your conversion! Any god in particular?

The things that helped me were to make lots of trial before gluing it all together to make sure I liked the look of it and then paint it in separate chunks. Hope you have fun!

Not to one god, as I understand it. The process of making Soulbound was created by the whole Pantheon of Order in the Age of Myth, and that's the process that was revived by Sigmar.

I see, yeah that makes sense to me !  Thanks :)

  6. To one God ? I had understood the binding to each other, but did not know about the God, where does it come from ? You have the link?

Also! It makes me think to spear of shadows, where there's no SCE but a party of different races from the Mortal Realms going on a mission for Grungni!

Oh wow, I thought it was the only one called epitome. I hadn't realised Slaanesh could ally with nurgle. . .

EDIT P.S. Yeah my bad, I should really be playing more than I am at the moment haha !

BCP is Best Coast Pairings, the app used to record results and show pairings for the event.

    1. Slaanesh- 3 keeper godseeker host, epitome, 30 daemonettes, supreme sybarites

    8. Nurgle- verminlord corruptor, epitome, 30 plaguebearers, 10 knights, 40 plague monks

Hey, thanks for that! In list 8. What's the epitome?

  10. Well, one of the reasons I love the chariot is just how much you can do with it.

If you were to buy two start collecting for examples you could have list such as :(

(Burning chariot is made battleline by Tzeentch Allegiance and Herald on Burning Chariot as general).

  11. My opinion with starting is that you should focus on getting good opponents who will have the same approach as you (at least for your first games).  The game can be incredibly deep but you don't  have to use everything to enjoy it.

I also recommend not to use any rules beyond Warscroll and Core rules for the beginning, to integrate turn sequence movement and basic abilities. Then move on to Allegiance abilities, Command Traits, Artefacts at a later stage (and they will change the game quite a lot).

For more specifics I'll recommend to check the Beast of Chaos thread which is quite extensive.

Another tip, is to always bear in mind what your battle lines will be and what role you want your army to play.

True, but even at 680, 183 wounds from one turn of combat is just rude.

On the dual blades Vs blades and staves, I think the main considerations are 1) how big your units are and 2) how many Plague Furnaces your running. big units and those supported with Furnaces are going to do better with Staves, small/unsupported units are better with dual blades.

This aside I think the main issue pure Clan Pestilence list are facing is getting around the board and putting early pressure on opponents. Gnaw wholes help a bit and Veminlords are obviously much faster than anything else we have, but other than that what tricks to we have to stop being out manoeuvred?

-Filling the board with bodies is a solution of sorts (5+ units of 40 plague monks), but pushing 200+ models around isn't my idea of fun.

-Plague Catapults give us an option of early pressure, but feel over priced  compared to our other options and become really bad against any opponent without units with 10+ models.

-Magic is another option, but we rely on a master-clan general and the Verminlord as only source of casting.  I think Warp Lightening Vortex is a great way to 'encourage' enemies to come out of their deployment zone. I wonder if it's worth going for Thanquil as general and stilling him next to a Gnaw hole turn one for +3 to cast it. and a solid centrepiece for the army (Master of Magic Verminlord is a cheaper option with +2 to cast).

    Thoughts?

Just had an idea. Didn't caught up with whole thread so might have been suggested. What about allying Gutrot and 5 blightkings to force the opponent to watch their back ?

It's my impression that GW aren't interested in Chaos being grey but being that insidious and constant threat to "the good guys, ehich which isn't helped by the insistence of telling most stories through the eyes of l"the good guys." Even in Cathay the worship of Tzeentch was described to us narratively as nefarious and cancerous.

The mentality I want to explore is how this Chaos based "city" sees the Stormcast and Sigmar as Tyrants and warmongers.

Do you think it's plausible if the perfect balance was struck between the gods that type of thing could be a thriving community?

I realise I arrive quite late in that, and I will try to catch up with the rest of the thread, but I love your idea ! I might pinch some of it as well :D

I've been thinking about the Herald on Burning Chariot recently and wonder if it is worth comboing with some endless spells.  Specifically- Balewind Vortex for 15" range on Tzeetch's Firestorm, or even better (but more expensive) Spell Mirror to drop the spell in the middle of the opponent's army without putting the herald in harms way.  Both costly combos and need some casting boost to get the 9+ regularly, but feels like it could be worth it against any army with MSU (multiple small units).  Anyone tried it or got any ideas for how to best use the Herald on Burning Chariot?

Good shout ! Haven't thought about that at all, but what I love about the Herald on Burning chariot in my friendly games is that it makes my other Burning Chariot battleline.

@Enoby For interesting Khorne minions you really should read Spear of Shadows -  Ahazian Kel, Last Prince of Ekran and Eight Smiths show that Khorne is not only "Blood for the blood god!" (or at least that you can still be thinking clear, even being servant of the blood god).

This x100. I have never been particular interested in Khorne, and I found the bloodbound dull, perhaps because of their prevalence in the release of AoS. However having read spear of shadows and followed Ahazian Kel's hunt for his prize, I am a convert. I will now very likely make a khorne skirmish warband at some point.

Well done @JReynolds, you sneaky genius.

Has anybody realised that a Knight-Venator  from the Hallow Knights in Plague Garden also claims to be the last prince of Ekran?

I'd even say he seems to share some of the traits, (especially in his pride for his martial skills).

Hah, you're right ? it didn't work either.

I completely misplayed it. Thanquol went the whole game without using his warpthrowers, cast two spells over the course of the game, and didn't even take a wound because he was so out of position. His command ability is pure gold though, but the list needs tweaking. Probably dropping an arch-warlock for something.

The ungors, which are essentially a smaller unit of clanrats in stats, were very useful however.

We played the "one objective in each corner, hold both from round three onwards to win" scenario in realm of metal with the rust plague feature. The Seraphon turtled up in his corner, and I failed to breach it, mostly due to misplacing my second wave ? Ratling guns were essential to removing chaff walls, but I might not need two. Between removing one of those and one Arch-Warlock,  two ungor units might become two full clanrat stacks. Gotta check the numbers when I get back.

Edit: Something like this. Should at the very least give some staying power, which I felt I lacked during this game.

    Allegiance: Chaos
    Thanquol and Boneripper (400)
    - Warpfire Projectors
    Screaming Bell (200)
    - General
    - Trait: Cunning Deceiver
    - Artefact: Crown of Conquest
    10 x Ungors (60)
    - Mauls & Half-Shields
    40 x Clanrats (200)
    - Rusty Spear
    40 x Clanrats (200)
    - Rusty Spear
    40 x Plague Monks (240)
    - Foetid Blades
    40 x Plague Monks (240)
    - Foetid Blades
    40 x Plague Monks (240)
    - Foetid Blades
    20 x Gutter Runners (200)

    Total: 1980 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 255

Sorry haven't caught up with most of what was written after this. But I would really advise for a Verminlord Corruptor. His buff of attacks works with Skaven Keyword (so most of your armies) but is deadly with charging Plague Monks.  Wizard caster with 2 spells every turn and is relatively cheap (220 points) everything he does in combat is bonus from there onwards.
