  1. Took me a while to find, but I remembered there was a topic like this at the end of 2017 beginning of 2018 and that I'd made some bold predictions for 2018... thought I'd look back to see how I'd done.

Topic can be found here in case anyone else wants to check theirs:

    My goals had been:

    1. Plan an army that will (hopefully) be effective on the table, rather than a collection of models I like.

Sort of remains to be seen, but I think this is a no, having picked models that I liked to base an army around...

    2. Build and paint said army in the first six months of the year.

Pretty much painted the initial 2000 points in 6 months.

    3. Play 3-4 times a month (re-arrange work schedule) and up skill level.

Nowhere near. Was probably playing around twice a month at best, but moving to a new part of the UK has slowed me down.

    4. Attend a tournament.

I managed to get to a one day event and finished dead last. Probably a nail in the coffin for objective 1 🤣

    5. Enter a painting competition.

Swallowed my fear of not being good enough and have entered a couple of painting competitions at my new local GW. Not won, but have a model in the cabinet, which I look in on from time to time.

3/5 is not bad and I have probably learned that having an effective army is probably not a huge concern for me, so I won't be repeating that one!

    In 2019 I aim to:

1). Learn how to use my airbrush that will be arriving for Christmas

2). Play at least twice a month

3). Get to a tournament at Warhammer World

4). Build a 2000 point army and customise (so learn how to Green Stuff do conversions)

5). Win a painting competition (even a very small one)

  2. We remain in a transition period from the old world, decisions will be made along business lines and people will be disappointed by their favorite armies disappearing. This is, I'm afraid, a fact of life. When picking a new army, pick one that has a Battletome, or, at the very least, has Allegiance Abilities in the GHB17, if you want to play Matched Play. These are the only factions we have assurances on going forward in the medium to long term and if you pick anything else, then you're taking a chance and you know that you're doing this, because you did a tiny bit of research before jumping in. Right?

If you're previous army from the World that Was is unplayable, then it's probably time to pick a new one. I know there are financial, time and emotional investment in the models from a previous world, but the new models are so much better, so don't mope over the girlfriend / boyfriend that's left you, get out there and meet new models, start a new relationship and find a new love!

    -------

There are a couple of theories around that Slaanesh will be coming in October, do we think that could mean a Skaven release in January to continue the 'Chaos army at the beginning of the year' thing?

Universal in game changes will affect so much unforeseen stuff I remain very sceptical. Changes to battleplans who starts the game (extra roll off, if you finish setting up first +1 to that roll for example), should be fine. But also suggested stuff like all charging units hit first, will heavily heavily impact the point system. So for my money, change the scenario's, maybe even expand the terrain rules and for that reason take them out of the core rules and leaving the none magical terrain rules, stuff like that are all posibilities but I don't expect more than tweaking to be honest.

Agreed, I remain skeptical of 'AOS 2' in general and see a lot of wish-listing rather than solid rumors.

On the plus side, not like anybody takes those units except for funsies anyway.

That's sort of true, but you're talking about arguably the best looking Stormcast models, who've just had a Start Collecting Box created, who're also over-pointed. Not only would it make no sense in terms of invalidating rules scrolls, but it would make no sense in terms of selling models that must have been expensive and time consuming to create. I don't think they need much of a shift in points to become relevant, but if they have to deploy outside of 9" then they'd likely be over-costed if they were the same price as Liberators.

  4. Not setting up within 9" would create some strange rules conflicts and scenarios as well. The units that immediately spring to mind are Horrors (splitting rules), Fanatics and Vanguard Hunter units. Vanguard Hunter units (including the Aquilor's command ability) in particular have a specific rule that says they must be set-up outside 7", as many of their ranged attacks are 9". It's possible that they'll change all of those scrolls, but there's been a general reluctance to do so so far.

  5. Thank you for setting up and maintaining TGA, particularly with the cost creeping up month on month. I suspect I would've been asking for help much sooner!

My personal preference would be to pay an amount up front, but that could be either as a one off fee, or being able to pay a number of months subscription in a row and I would definitely rather not see adverts. Paying to not see the ads, as suggested above, might be a good solution.

No, it doesn't have any compendium war machines.

It has every single model from the Ironweld Arsenal faction, none of them being compendium.

You're absolutely right and, looking at it, a Hellblaster volley gun is only 120 points...

The AoS facebook page posted some army list suggestions based around the heralds recently, I noticed the Death one had two Black Coaches in it. Seems weird for them to be pushing such an ancient model. I didn't connect the dots when I saw it, but with this rumour about a new coach it's starting to make sense.

Didn't the Lord Ordinator one have loads of compendium war machines in?

I think these may just be fun lists, rather than indications of new models, but fingers crossed none-the-less :)
