  1. Anti-magic shenanigans are usually terrible game design as they push the game into all-magic or no magic at all. More and more lists are just dropping single mages as in this meta :

    - they can't really unbind anything

    - they can't cast anything

Going with such game design even further isn't much fun, meta with single spellcasters as little support pieces is much more fun then meta with only few armies taking mages. Sure Teclis should all good etc but he is supposed to be 700 pts + model so he should be able to dominate certain phases of the game, but in nutshell pushing the game further and fuerther into crazy bonuses to magic/no magic is bad.

Lighting Reaction is obviously well written rule - as it isn't nowhere near as good as ASF/ASL so won't create much negative experience as opponent will anyway activate his unit first in his turn and it won't help vs stuff like Deepkin High Tide or GG General.

Good call. If they draw inspiration from the High Elves in this respect - that'd be definitely in the cards. Shutting down the magic phase was a big part of High Magic for a long time. I can already see how popular the Lumineth would be among opponents if they get something like a combination of the Banner of the World Dragon and the Book of Hoeth as a spell. Oh boy... .

That would be horrible, I dont wanna them to have rules that make them negative experience.

  3. I think wrong assumption is that they are AoS "High Elves", lorewise and even how they are marketed they are Tyrion&Teclis reimagining of their vision of High Elves, hence why there is no dragons. As Tyrion and Teclis had no connection with dragons whatsoever.

And majority of End Times lore carried over to AoS - even the construction of this setting is based on End Times.

    - Nagash, Arkhan, Manfred story

    - Morathi

    - stuff in Cities of Sigmar

etc. So it makes all the sense that Malerion's army will have all kinds of Dragons and Lumineth have their unique thing.

Honestly for me, it came down to we used to have really awesome preditor animals for most of our allies, to having one if the biggest prey animals in this update.  And yes, you could argue that in other culture the ox or cow or yak has deep cultural significance, or that the in game explanation is a mythical immortal beast.  But the High Elf race was THE Dragon race.  We had the Dragonlord Imrik himself, who could command even other races' dragons.  It just feels like a step down for me to go from Dragonlord to Bull Master.

@Thiagoma That picture is also probably my favorite piece of Warhammer artwork ever.  That was my phone backrground for a long time until my kids came along!

Lorewise Imrik and Dragons took Malerions side not Tyrion. And then even with Teclis around Imirk became Malekith’s best and most trusted general. Their storyline is quite awesome in End Times.

Tyrion and Teclis didnt have any connection to Dragons whatsoever.
And Lumineth are Tyrion and Teclis Aelves recreating their version of High Elves so I dont get that Dragon connection they didnt ever had.

  5. I think they could have some kind of wizardy unit be it sorceress council or some ulgu spirits but that would be nice.

I love the feel of this army as it's infantry based and Blood Sisters are elite, they just need a little better rules to be more distinctive from Witch Aelves.

Also wizardy unit would make them better casters, I like Lore of Shadows but it needs some reworking - only really good spells are Mindrazor and Shroud of Despair but with lack of wizards or 2lvl wizards it hard to combo them, rest of the lore is just meh.

  6. 1 is just enough, Leviadon and Shark could be playable in Akhelian corps as competitive list ( it can go 4-1, 3-2 at big events).

    Allegiance: Idoneth Deepkin
    - Enclave: Dhom-Hain
    Mortal Realm: Ulgu
Volturnos, High King of the Deep (280)
    - General
    Isharann Soulscryer (130)
    - Artefact: Cloud of Midnight
    6 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (340)
    3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (170)
    3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (170)
    3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (170)
    3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (170)
    1 x Akhelian Allopexes (100)
    - Razorshell Harpoon
    Akhelian Leviadon (310)
    Akhelian Corps (100)

    Total: 1940 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 109

I still don’t get the cows. I mean, dragons and phoenixes and white lions are elegant and magical beasts, quite fitting to be associated with an elven army. But cows? Also, with Hashut and Slaanesh and Bullgors, isn’t there already enough cow imagery in AoS?

White Lions ? They were primal, agressive and very wild in the old lore. I think magical cow is more elegant then White Lion.

And just to add, they always had this aspect, just not as pronounced, and a bit changed. The Caledor Dragons could be seen as Earth/Fire spirits which the elves awoke with their singing. It's very similar in a way. And they always bonded very strongly with their land (be it Ulthuan or Athel Loren). It's a new twist on things, but it also builds up nicely on existing lore. In my view at least.

Caledor Dragons should come back but in Malerion army. Teclis and Tyrion were never about dragons. Malerion was and we must remember that Imrik sided with him and became his most trusted general after Malekith returned all dragons eggs. So it makes much sense to include them in Malerion army.

  9. I think AoS has a lot of amazing lore and system is pretty :

    - Flesh-eater Courts

    - Idoneth Deepkin

    - Daughters of Khaine

to name a few so there is a lot of work put into those faction and they are truly unique - for example Court of the Blind King is amazing world-building novel.

What I think Age of Sigmar lacks at this moment is to establish some unique (or even bring back some old heroes) in that new setting. For example I would love more about Volturnos. Gods are cool as they just work as faction leaders more then actual gods, but I want some other characters to be fleshed out - underworld helps as those warbands stories are more personal.

  10. We might not see Sons of Behemat too soon. I doubt GW want to overstuff us with upcoming stuff we might not get anytime soon.

    I'm thinking

    AoS

    Another Lumineth reveal

Wrath of Everchosen alike book  - as they can release them in digital form and sell as unlike Psychic Awakening they do not come with new models

maybe Sons of Behemat teaser - like some kind of video like Jurrasic Park water trembling

    Wh40

Some new models for sure, possibly new army - something big.

And some stuff that was absent from previous reveal

    Blackstone Fortress expansion/new game

Underworlds new season tease or reveal as they've already showed all warbands for Beastgrave if I'm correct.

    Necromunda expansion/gang

Coming from a SCE perspective, wide range of units does not mean you're going to be playing them, from a competitive point of view SCE players only play a few units.
Let's say those moomineth are the really competitive ones and everything else is just moooot, then you're stuck with either not playing this army even if you were really into them (I like the core archers/cavalry for ex, they fit quite well with the former HE) or accept to play with units that might not fit your standards of beauty.

how is it different for almost every army in AoS ?

You can't really play 100% Snake DoK army as it isn't as good as Witches, you can't play monster mash Deepkin etc, even if you liked Hedonites stuff you couldn't play balanced force and had to use 2+ Keepers.

Sure if you want netlist there is a chance it will use models you don't wanna like and even if you do you don't want to spam one unit (for examle Dawnriders) but competitive gaming is about netlist I've won tournaments (one dayers ) with Aspect of Sea and won 60 players 2 dayer using Aspect of Storm - both are regarded not very competitive.

Also went 4-1 at Heat 1 last year with Blood Sister heavy, Morathi-less DoK army losing only close battle in final round vs eventual champion. You can work a lot of units that arent 100% efficent competitive wise into you army and still go 4-1 or even 5-0.  Sure it won't be as easy as using netlist but it's possible.

I think you can easily go with pure Aelves build add some Cities of Sigmar High Elves units like Phoenix Guard, Phoenixes, Shadow Warriors and make it quite good to go to tournaments and go 3-2 for example. If you want to compete on highest level in majority of cases you got to use units you don't want (or for sure in numbers you don't want) nonetheless.

  12. I think calling something bull ****** (as Warhammer Weekly did) because they don't like it is bad. You don't like it - that's bad but I think those Lumineth have more in common with old High Elves then possible reimagine of Aelves into Light Aelves etc.

You don't have to buy Stonewardens and Stoneguard and you will be able to build army around - cavalery, spearelves, Eltharion, archers and even easily kitbash Stoneguard(if they aren't dual kit) into swordmasters. There is a lot of variety noone forces anybody to use Stonewardens.

  13. I don't think monsters suit Daughters of Khaine much I like them as elite infantry army. If there is new unit maybe some kind of Dark Pegasi cavalery or something like that would be nice or some kind of sorcersses council type of unit (which would echo old Dark Elves lore that Morathi was the head of all Sorceresses in Dark Elf society)

  14. Tyrion isn't separate army, he is all over the lore and articles he will show up somewhere in the future(possibly when Lumineth are updated)

    I like what I've seen a lot .

    - love Aelves with hammers but will change their helms (maybe removing horns)

    - love Holy Cows

    - rest of the range is pretty sweet some minor headswaps and it will be grand, the only things:

that I dislike a lot is Celennar head (hope I will be able to find some kid of replacement) and Stone Mage head (easy to swap)

"aaaand we might just have a surprise for you at the end of tomorrow’s preview show…"

I doubt it's this they're referring to but I know they've talked about finding other ways for people to pick up the various special limited edition models from events, store openings and the like, so hoping one tiny tiny microscopically thin silver lining to all this might be that awesome Catachan guard Vasquez-alike being made generally available in some way...

I doubt it's the case as it won't be available to buy for weeks anyway.

My bet is digital releases of campaign books like Wrath of Everchosen and maybe codexes, battletomes, psychic awakening.
