  1. Yep maybe but unlike Blood Sisters not to mention Witch Aelves and Sisters of Slaughter you can't really get more then 10 Lifetakers into combat (and even 10 could be tricky) that's why units of 15-20 are tricky and really need buffs.

It's an alpha strike list build around Lifetakers I've made

    Draichi Ganeth

    Morathi + Withering

Bloodwrack Medusa + Shadow Stone + Mindrazor

3xHag Queen (Martyr's Sacrifice, Catechism of Murder, Sacrament of Blood)

2x30 Witch Aelves (one unit with extra knives, one with bucklers)

    10 Witch Aelves

    2x10 Lifetakers

    Cauldron Guard

    Chronomatic Cogs

even without Cogs you can easily bring 3 units into combat turn one, with Cogs you can drop extra 2 blobs of  Witch Aelves easily, just cast Martyr's Sacrifice on unit with double knives, so even if opponent will activate unit fighting with them with Marty's Sacrifice and even 10 left they could decimate him. All of those units with +1 to hit

Also you can easily swap some Witches and  10 Lifetakers for Blood Sisters who are quite awesome with Cogs with 10MV and +2 to charge, 3+ MWs and then hitting on 2+

Morathi with +1 to hit and re-rolls of wound and possible Mindrazor could decimate almost anything.

  2. I even tried 20 Lifetakers few times but they didn't work too well,

I guess they could work in 10 strong units, as it gives them 20 Attacks with 2dmg every time they charge and thanks to their ability it put your opponent under more pressure with choice which unit to activate first, and for 160 you're not forced to deploy them near Hag Queen as with 4+ to wound they really need those re-rolls in big 20 strong units.

I was thinking about an army with Sisters of Slaughter, Lifetakers and maybe even Khailebron to really mess up with avtivations but I have so much fun with my Snakes-heavy army that I don't have much time for this :D

Heartrenders are much better objective takers as they can swoop, shoot, extra move, charge with -2 and -1 rend.

  3. I don't know I would like them to update LoN, Maggokin, DoK and ID with endless spells its easy money for them and I guess they might be released along with GH2019 (to give them points) and update all Battletomes to 0.2 - Sylvaneth, Ironjawz, Seraphon, Fyreslayers, DoT, BCR and I think they will.

I think KO might get something too - some kind of terrain, or "endless" something (maybe in a form of CA) along with GH2019 which along with points reduction could be enough for them.

And as far as new releases go I think that GW will release Darkoath/Everchosen and then Slaasnesh huge dual-release in winter, maybe followed by Aelves in 2020.

  4. You can't use Shrine ability after Steed of Shadows as it works at they start of hero phase

Mindrazor is far from useless as there are a lot SCE, Deepkins in the meta, also you can combine it with easy to cast Shroud of Despair. Sure Mindrazor isn't good against LoN but it's amazing on everything else, also you can cast it on Bravery 10 Cauldron or Bravery 10 Morathi + possible Shroud of Despair debuff.

Slaughter Troupe is 2x Sisters of Slaughter and 2xHeartrenders

  5. Bloodwrack Medusa is no way Tier 3 as she is reliable caster and almost any battalion army could take her with Shadow Stone plus Mindrazor.

She has 6W, nice shooting ability and a lot of attacks in CC.

And how Battalions force you to take subpar units? That's not a case with Slaughter Troupe I guess.

  6. Yep I bought batleforce myself as I want to finish my DoK collection by painting 10 Blood Stalkers, another and 10 more Lifetakers and will sell rest :D

I'm strongly considering  taking Snake build to GT Heat 1 , it would be fun not taking Cauldron but it remains to be seen, I'm thinking about several builds

  7. I think it will come along with generic endless spells as it makes sense to make some kind of event out of it.

Terrain is a neat idea but there aren't many "new" armies without terrain - only DoK and KO rest of armies are due to rerelease like FEC with terrain so it makes sense to release endless spells for Nurgle, DoK, Deepkins and LoN

You still get no command abilities if you want to run snakes proper. They just need to make melusai battleline for Morathi.

Yes you have generic CA and its possible to easy build all snake comeptitive army(or almost all snakes very comeptitve army) I just hope GW maksa Blood Stalkers 120-140 and battleline (with or without Medusa)

Melusai Battleline if Morathi is general will be quite useless as you wont be able to take HaggNarr or Khailebron temple abilities like 5++ or Teleport

It's funny that DoK also have that command ability, but you never end up using it because of the weird way most army builds work and how everyone has to be your general to get their benefits. I really hope they fix that in the next GHB. Oh you want an army of melusai? No command abilities for you.

Really ? Slaughter Queen gets her ability to work a lot of time for me and take note that it is really powerfull for an army like DoK as almost any unit that you will use it on hits like a truck.

I'm taking Melusai build to Heat 1 and it's really good, and you can still take Blood Sisters in any Slaughter Queen build.

  10. @Jamopower I think opposite releasing new stuff for existing armies is easy money and much welcome addition for any player.

Take Idoneth they can easily use Kraken alike Monster ridden by some kind of hero.

I think its great move to refresh factions in future with releases like :

    - 1-2 dual kits whatever they are hero, infantry

    - endless Spells

    - Battletome

Minor question but.... what's the main use of the Slaughter Troupe?

It allows units to retreat and still charge, sure. But Sisters of Slaughter can just retreat + run outside 3", and then pile-in 6" anyway.

And for the price of the battalion, you can get a few extra things instead.

Is it for less drops? Utility for the Heartrenders?

Mainly its because it's a battalion so you have fewer drops which helps a lot against Nagash or Gavriel SCE plus battalion contains great units (so there isn't much tax) plus you get extra item so for example Bloodwrack Medusa with Shadow Stone is sweet. Battalion bonus could be useful and it's very fine as well.

I did consider 30 eels and a King for heat 1.  Maybe I will bring it! Hard to leave my thralls at home though...

    See you at heat 1!

    JT

    Go for it :D

I'am probably taking almost all-Snake DoK army (Morathi, Bloodwrack Shrine, 2x20 Blood Sisters) ;)  and it also remains to be seen. Maybe we will play against each other. See you !

Did evocators alpha strike took out your Cauldron or Hag Queen on the first turn?

I usually use 30 Witches to bubble wrap my entire army and the last 10 for an added layer to protect my Cauldron and Heros.

Those guys are painful but if you can survive the initial onslaught, you can wipe them out the following turn.

Yep, exactly that, I made bad mistake no to screen with Lifetakers, and I lost Slaughter Queen on Cauldron which was bad but then I got couple of chances to win the scenario but I couldn't kill Lord Castellant for like 3 turns of combat with Medusa and Lifetakers.
