Hi folks. I’m strongly considering picking up GSG as I’ve been looking at the variety of amusing and characterful models. What would folks see as a decent ‘core’ of purchases? Are any of the battleforce or vanguard or dawnbringer boxes worth trying to hunt down?

Someone earlier in the thread suggested a ‘Flay Enchantress’ which I think is both delightful and suitable. Court magician could definitely be a thing. Plus I don’t think any of our heroes are female. Which is odd considering how many of the new troops seem to be. And riding on some kind of dark Pegasus.

What might we see in a potential’ Dawnbrigner box? Has to be Ushoran, but might he get paired with more new stuff such as some of the court? I suspect they would all be released separately later on, but higher cost.

IIOnce your codex releases most of the rules get locked in the app. I think the free Datacards get removed, too.

I think the new dragon is a great model. Different cultures seem to have had different ideas of what a dragon is or looks like so this being a crocodilian thing is good, IMO. But part of me can’t help thinking that updating the skeletons and cavalry would have been better.

@Black_Templar_Lad I second this. I know it’s difficult to wait without knowing what’s going on but I hope this release is indicative of what Skaven and Chorf players get when their ranges are redone.

I do want to be clear here that I am blown away by the FEC release. The new stuff is perfection I could only have dreamed of - I’m genuinely wondering about selling my SBGL to fund this. My bank balance is less sanguine about the idea…

From the leaked sprues could folks see if the halberdiers and Cryptguard were the same kit? I think they are.? I’m not sure I can afford two army boxes but we’ll see how quickly I can eBay stuff. 😄

Nobody is going to make us replace our blocky headed old kit. As I said, I’m not replacing my Tyranid gribblies even though the new sculpts are better. I get the focus on new units for sure. But I don’t think that would have stopped the Cryptguard having an empty-handed dual build kit.

I’m surprised by the number of existing FEC players that don’t want regular ghouls to be updated. I haven’t rushed out and replaced the Genestealers or Gaunts in my Nid or GSC armies. The old ones look so outdated next to the newly revealed kits.

If I may borrow from one of our fellow posters…. BY RECENTLY FOUND USHORAN!!! The new FeC are simply amazing. Absolutely grabbing those. There isn’t a single model in that lot that I don’t completely adore. Sad they seem to be sticking with the old regular ghouls, they look so dated next to the fabulous new stuff. But that’s a minor thing next to the new stuff.

But GW would certainly fit within the subset of folks who could be expected to be excited about ghosts and ghoulies. Then again the Strictly Halloween Special is basically my Christmas… 😊

Yes, they’d have had plenty left over for this show had they done a Halloween special for TK and FEC.

They should have shown them off for Halloween, IMHO rather than waiting for this weekend. Dare I say it but they practically owe us a Boxing Day Army Box Feast of left over turkey. And by turkey I mean still warm flesh. 😁
