It would be cool if it is a spell, because, you know, Nagash could wipe out their army in an instant with a simple dispel. He is, after all, a god, right?

So why doesn't just cast a spell to get rid of all the air when facing mortal foes? ;)

I think the answer is that he could dispel it but it would take too long to do and by the time it's done, the raid is over.

I personally quite like this idea as it means we get to have lots of cool models! :D

  2. As I've expressed my interest in the Idoneth Deepkin here and on Twitter, I thought I would posts my thoughts about them here.

My first thoughts are a combination of joy and disappointment. I'll explain my disappointment first. I was hoping to see something very dark and monsterlike with the Deepkin, with them being twisted Aelves. I was hoping we would see a cool Cthulhu Bio Mecha Suited Aelf and they need the suits due to them being a withered twisted thing. The leaders and 'heros' of this race would be more traditional Aelf looking. They would all survive on the life essence of different creatures with the suited Aelves having the least and needing their suits to support them. They of course would hate being in such suits, even though they would have immense power they would not be Aelves but the leaders would have even more power but run the danger of withering away if they used too much (would take a mortal wound if pushed themselves too far).

But pushing my ideas to one side, I do actually like the range. It's so different to what Games Workshop have previously done and there seems to be so many really cool models. I of course love the fact that there seems to be a two cast system as the Aelves with bows or swords seem to be blind and have a look to the hero models, and this suggests that they are copies or artificial or even they are withering away... :D .  The hero models look amazing and very dynamic and so do the giant turtles. I can't wait to see the models and unless they have a silly price, these will be my next army. I can not wait to see the coverage for the Deepkin and eagerly await my White Dwarf for more information.

I feel bad for the Destruction players who got no nods. Maybe they'l do a Battletome to tie into the Orks Codex?

I suspect we will see a 'Legions of' type book for Destruction as it will allow them to have a tidy up of the range and it's a quick win for keeping people happy.

I get it Gaz and I'll tread carefully, but having your tongue-in-cheek 'predictions' shot down in a high-handed and presumptuous way is arrogant and rude - I think that invites a little light sarcasm.

Noted but just remember that everybody who visits here comes from different backgrounds and have different ideas about 'light' sarcasm (which is always hit and miss in the written format!). A nice example is I've know my wife a third of my life and know her very well but I still get 'moderated' with some of my tongue in cheek comments! :(

Anyway, lets get back to being excited about toy soldiers! :D

As an American, I'm happy that the timing works out for me. I live in the Central Time Zone.

LOL. I'll be honest, I would love it to be a UK timing but due to work and family I wouldn't see it until much later anyway. So timing works for me too! :D

POKE - I'm guessing this is a tongue in cheek but it also reads as very sarcastic. Just think a bit when replying please ;)

NExt Specialised Game will be Adeptus Titanicus - Mordhime is far out, and might be replaced by Shadespire.

This doesn't need to be a Specialist Game at all. The main studio can easily do this, especially if there are more new terrain kits on the way. Also quite an easy release to do as they just package up the new terrain kits with some existing kits and bam! Age of Sigmar Mordheim

  6. 6 minutes ago, Ar-Pharazôn said:

Age of Sigmar will likely see Idoneth Deepkin, and hopefully Death. But when it comes to major announcements, what would be bigger than a dual announcement based on the Dark Prince? Codex: Emperor's Children and Battletome: Hosts of Slaanesh, featuring the all new plastic KoS, plastic Fiends, and for 40K, Fulgrim himself!

Probably a pipe dream, but still.

It would be cool but I think that's for next year. I suspect the story will be pushed forwards in both games before they do a reveal like that. Especially with 40K as they need to finish getting all the codexes out and I think if they tease the Adeptus Sororitas the internet will explode!! But we don't talk about that space game here ;)

What about a boxed Titanicus game?

I remember bits were previewed from FW a little while ago, but seems like its gone quiet since then.

I think the game is done but they are looking at producing more plastics for it. I think it's one of those games where if they can get the core stuff available in plastics it will just print money. I believe that the game is good to go but I suspect they are doing extra quality control over it, especially with some of the typos and mess ups with Necromunda. But again, it's a space game so we don't talk about it here ;)

    3) Mordheim!!!

Why? Because they say that this will be bigger than the reveal of a new edition of 40K so surely that has to be the highly anticipated relaunch of an old favourite? It will be called something else and will be ported over to the AoS setting, but it will still be about rich narrative/skirmish play with warbands that develop over time. I also predict that this is what @bottle has been secretly working on up in Nottingham! :D

Yes I can see this happening now you have mentioned it. All it needs is some of the lovely terrain sets that GW are making now and use some of the existing models. This would be very cool if it happens. I used to love Mordheim

We’ve got what is quite possibly the biggest and best Studio Preview ever planned for AdeptiCon – and last year, we announced the new edition of Warhammer 40,000!

To make sure you don’t miss out, we’ll be wrapping up the Studio Preview on Facebook Live on Wednesday at 9:00 pm (US Central Time). Make sure to like the Warhammer TV Facebook page to check it out.

I don't think it is possible to be any more hyped for a GW event.

11 hours 35 minutes to go!

Ooh you snuck that in before my post! That sounds really cools but for us in the UK this translates to 2am! I doubt I can stay up that late but I will get up extra early to see if I can watch in full!

  9. Okay so lets do a prediction time.....

Lets all make three predictions for the Adepticon Seminar and see how many we can get right. I'll go first....

    1) Idoneth Deepkin

Quite a safe one due to the rumours and teases from GW. I'm expecting a reveal showing off some of the cool models and bit of discussion about who and what they are. I'm personally hoping for some sort of bio mechanical monsters as half the Deepkin are withered husks and need to be in environment suits (basically like a Dalek), whilst the remaining Aelf ones survive because they consume the souls of others and able to stay Aelf. So a bit Dark Eldar (or whatever they are called now) and bit Dalek. I'm hoping for a tiered release in April with preorders going up next weekend (just as White Dwarf comes out).

    2) Story Progression

Again another safe one as the Dread Solstice enters the last week tomorrow but I think we will see some good hints around the direction the story will go in. I have seen a suggestion on Twitter (I can't remember who so sorry), where it was suggested Nagash is after the souls within Slaanesh and is cooking up a scheme to release him/her/it. I suspect it will go wrong and Slaanesh is either released or the prison is cracked and Slaanesh can wiggle his/her/its toe out of the crack (It's the toe and nothing else!!! ;) ).

    3) New boxed Set

Again another safe bet, I think we will see a new boxed set over summer, which I'm hoping will be Deepkin vs Slaanesh but I'm expecting more Death vs Order, with Death forces attacking a village and the Order forces holding out and being rescued by Stormcast.

I'm also hoping for more info around the new Shadespire Warbands as well as a bit of direction where the game will go next. I'm hoping we will hear about a season two!

  10. I'm wondering if I should start dishing out warning points for all of these puns....

So if we round up the rumours around the Idoneth Deepkin:

    • Follow Mathlann (who we know from WHFB was a bit of a "difficult" God, represented Poseidon in the game)... which I know was more High Elf before but the High Elves themselves didn't like Mathlann that much. If Mathlann is more like Khaine...
    • A couple of heroes - one riding some sort of sea creature, or otherwise (magic?) - I personally don't think Mistweaver will be part of them despite...
    • ... Them coming from the mists and magically affect the areas they raid by making it as though it's "underwater"
    • Greek aesthetic (ties in with Atlantis, Poseidon) - helms, spears (makes sense) and by extension harpoons?
    • Shark cavalry or chariots?
    • Giant turtle, ridden by Aelves? Is this a behemoth, a chariot, a war machine? If not behemoth, could there be more to come?
    • Soul-stealing - does this relate to Teclis failing to create a race of perfect new Aelves, who just somehow aren't magically bound the souls recovered from Slaanesh? "Woe is us, lets retreat to sea and come out to take what we can get". Does it link to Nagash? Hide in the deep to disguise their tenuous hold on their Aelven souls? This I guess also pitches them again Chaos (would be anyway) and against destruction.
    • 8 lines - 8 units from combined boxes (very common now, and a good idea) seems likely.
    • Kraken/octopus logo.
    • They're Order (get over it xD)
    • They're not "High Aelves" (get over it xD)

    My feelings:

    • Inspired by Atlantis, Greek Gods. Spears, harpoons, tridents, helmets. Fish scale style-armour. Could even be a little bit African even, if you look at some of the Atlantis stories. All with an AoS twist.
    • Would have been High Aelves, but by virtue of stealing souls they just can't be. Doesn't make them wholly evil, chaotic, death or destruction (hence Order), just like the Dark Aelves themselves really (bar Morathi, but she hates Chaos and Nagash so that's that). Bitter?
    • Not all of them will need to steal souls. Some perhaps are chosen of Mathlann, hence lead their kin to land.
    • Don't think we'll see fish Aelves, rather more souless, more undead looking. Gaunt. Sad. Angry? (I can't help but think of Little Mermaid and those stolen souls the fat Octopus woman took (xD)
    • I think rumours will emerge of their battleline units. Nothing we've heard so far screams battleline to me yet. This has got to be a dual kit like the Melusai and Khinerai? I think they'll be the ones above.
    • I think rumours will emerge of a larger sea creature than an Aelf riding a nasty turtle, though honestly don't know. Snapping turtles are mean  though!
    • Some mechanic like the Sylvaneth woods. Hope it's not that bloody boat though! Stargate-esque Portals? Water funnels? Something cool.
    • Can't see it being a horde army

Nice round up. Part of me is expecting a lot of this but also I would love to see a more bio-mechanical type theme for them with Cthulhu twist. Would love to see them as an elite army in a sort of mecha bio suit than riding some sort of sea-horse/shark hybrid but I suspect whatever we see, I will like.

Link to anything or just whispers on the winds?... Kroot are pretty cool and if they got a full  plastic reboot with some new kits I'd defiantly do some kind of counts as army!!!

    ** Cough ** Cough ** Not AOS ;)

However the little birdys seem to be saying look over here... http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/rumors-angron-and-khorne-new-abbadon.html and not discuss this any further in this thread (but if half of that is happening, I'm excited!!)

Looks great! What colours did you use?^^

I followed part of the painting guide from the Knight of shrouds that is on the Warhammer TV YouTube Channel.

So it's a undercoat of Skull White, followed by a base coat of Nihilakh Oxide . This then had a wash/glaze of Waywatcher Green and then a dry brush of Ulthan Grey (although I didn't get enough paint off and this ended up being more of a wetbrush). I then highlighted with Ulthan Grey on key points to try and get the glass effect and kept on adding it working up to White Scar on key points. It's sort of worked but need to try again. But as this is the first set of models I have properly painted in 10 years (not base colour and dip), I'm pleased! :D

On second thought, @Gaz Taylor, mayhaps a new thread could be in order? You know, new year, new life.  In theory we will get a few juicy tidbids at Adepticon so that would be a good moment.

At the moment the answer is no. This is the biggest thread on the forum and the most visited with all the rumour information in it. I think it can keep on going ;)

In this case it doesn't matter in terms of army choice for me, so happy to go with the tournament rules, but in terms of a big deal like malign portents, i wouldn't want to invest in a some new army if its' going to be illegal to use at events.

Personally I see Malign Portents as the setting for the game this year and the book will cover that and have some new units, scenarios, and background. The thing you are thinking about will be the Battletombs which will be themed for Malign Portents (such as the Legions of Nagash) but they should have no issues at an event. To be honest I can't see any events banning the new stuff unless it's for a very specific reason (such as a historical narrative event).

My fear is that TOs will ban any allegiances or warscrolls that come in the Portents book, just like they ban the firestorm allegiance rules.

"those are meant for narrative play only" etc.

Not been paying much attention to events but is that right? I thought they were allowed as per the GW ruling (can't remember if in FAQ or just for GW Heats) but you get the Firestorm rules if you drop the Grand Alliance rules.

As for the Malign Portents stuff, I'm really, really excited about what Legions of Nagash will bring but then GW also showed off lots of stuff for 40K (Adeptus Custodes!!!!!!) so I'm having a wobble! :D

So thx @RuneBrush we know the AOS Open Day is the 3rd of March.

Do you think we'll see anything for AOS / Malign portents (1 day and half left !!) in the New Year Open day this Saturday ? I'm not familiar with this kind of thing so it may only be a small event, with a look at 2017 and nothing else (which is still nice).

I don't think we will see anything new if I'm honest (apart from Forgeworld). All the Malign Portents stuff will be revealed tomorrow with hopefully a suitable Warhammer Live show and you will probably get chance to see the models up close on the Open Day.

Why do we all (inc me to this point) assume that Maligant potent is a proper AoS thing, could it be a new Silvertower, but with Death as main vilans?

My assumption is that I got to see the swanky new logo for Age of Sigmar at the presentation that GW did at Blood and Glory last year. I only caught bits of it as I have poor hearing and was suffering with a bad back (I foolishly offered to help set the tables up!) but it was mentioned that this is a new season for Age of Sigmar. We've just had the Season of Hope where the forces of Order have been able to push back Chaos and make little beachheads and buildup thriving cities in the realms, but we are now going to enter the next new season. With the eerie glow around the new logo and a lot of the stuff we have seen so far, Death seems to be the major player.  (Watch the Maggotkin trailer on the Warhammer TV Youtube channel if you don't believe me).

We could still see a new Silver Tower set but I think the main focus will be the main game and Shadespire this year.

I am really going to struggle to wait for 20 days. I got impatient waiting for the video to load.

    I need some instant gratification.

My understanding is that more and more stuff will appear on the site over the next few weeks to help tease us up until 3rd Jan (which is Age of Sigmar Wednesday on Warhammer TV). I'm guessing we will see more teasers in a similar manner of the 40K release

  19. Yeah I think Skaven in 2018. We may get more previews over the Christmas break but outside Christmas bundles and the last few 40k codexes (and maybe a Primarch) you won’t see anything. Remaining Warbands are Skaven, Fyreslayers, Khorne Blood Warriors, and Stormcast. We may see some more but I suspect it will be full AOS season then and we will next see stuff later on in 2018.
