Well my list is built around the Glottkin becouse I love the model so I was looking around what synergises the best with him and the answer is. RATS!

    Heros:

    • Glottkin
      • Blades of Putrification
    • Verminlord Corruptor
      • General
      • Witherstaff
      •  Pestilent Breath
      • Glorious Afflictions
    • Plague Furnace

    Units:

    • 5x Putrid Blightkings
    • 5x Putrid Blightkings
    • 5x Putrid Blightkings
    • 40x Plague Monks
    • 40x Plague Monks

Plan is to just turn Plague monks in to a missile to destroy everything. I kitted the monks with staffs so with Glottkin + Charge + Furnace its 300+ attacks. Get the rerolls from Verminlord and you deal an avarage of 110 mortal wounds with Blades of Putrification.

LOVE IT! Its funny because Im going to other way... GOATS! LOL. My problem is figuring out the most efficient way to get them the NURGLE keyword. or doing the best I can using a 400 point ally limit. Which sucks because the contorted epitome is almost to good to not include in competitive lists.

Just as an FYI..  +1 to hit would yield more damage (if you added the Grashrek Fellhoof) and got blades on them.. Plus with VLC and Glott you will be command point STARVED! This list gives you 200 points to play with... Contorted epitome? Could add in the Wildfire taurus for grashrek to cast.  Lots of ways to go. JUST A THOUGHT! I dont think my version is a better way to go.  Just an alternate.

Yeah im building a full dmg nurgle list

Please share as your formulating! I would love to see it!I think of all the way nurgle can buff a huge block of NURGLE bestigors and get giddy. 2 wound bestigors. 4 attacks on the charge and mortals on 4s!? 14" base move with natural run and charge! Lord of blights can give a -1 to hit.

Lord of plagues with gyrestrike can be surprisingly killy! Add in Grashrak Fellhoof's spell. and you have a dude with rend -1 doing d6 hits on 4s, that each do d3 damage LOL

    New Bonesplitters ignore damage prevention

And I’m curious to see if the boneboinger army uses this mechanic. Much like we saw always strike last start with a trickle and then it was everywhere.  I’m not full on abandoning the DPR build/mechanic. Just getting ready to jump ship to a new strategy. 🙂

@sal4m4nd3r As a competetive Nurgle player, any tips to make the Blightking list even tankier if I were to get rid of LoB and Blight Cyst?

There are several ways to play tanky. You can go volume (more Kings), more wounds per unit, target saturation (blightlords are good for this) fast/distraction units (to force opponents attention away from Kings). DPR is one aspect of tankyness. To utilize hit/wound modifiers you typically need realm spells.

you could also build around chaff tankyness. Marauders/plaguebois using DPR, lord of blights, glott etc.

@sal4m4nd3rlooks like it could be a good list. One big risk that jumps out to me: usually you see these Mhornar lists with some sort of battalion or at least ships to keep them low drop and give them the choice of first turn. If you go against an enemy that out droops you and can alpha strike hard or turn 1, get a big speed bump in your way, or give you the turn and keep key targets out of harms way (like stormcast deploying their important units in the sky), it will be an uphill slog from the very start.

Looks like Iron sky has great synergy with Mhornar. That’s an awesome tip! Thanks so much! Getting my first game in tomorrow! Very excited!

  5. @Percivael I watched poor rotigus and glott cut cut in half as I was steeping my morning coffee. Was a sad cup. Amazing looking army. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person at adepticon 2018. Truly stunning. Nothing short of amazing. You should be immensely proud..even if you didn’t win a game! You made us all proud with something so truly beautifully revolting. Something to look up to

  6. @Cactus97 If you want your mortals to be a Stanley as possible, I wouldnt spend 340 points on a battalion and tax character that increases their offensive output! If you want to build a blight cyst list..lean into that. If you want to go tanky..lean into that! But I would go half measures on either.

I have all the parts to this after November, so I'll might try it out and see how it goes. Its pretty scary to have the spells be your only real damage but I guess thats how most 3fold lists go so why not lean in hard, right?

I've foudn a sketchy russian website that sells 15 blight king bodies and legs for $20. So I'm waiting for those to come in and see how they look. if they're passable I might get a few blight kings an use the extras in the box to double my outpoot! Should make them less expensive.

You could drop one unit of ten plaguebearers for sorcerer with blades of putrefaction. If that spell does go off and you have a target, hit the GUOs command on them and do some damage! If you save a command point and give them RR 1s to hit in combat for even more damage.

I've considered those too, but, being yet unfamiliar with the Kharadron, how in the world does one make Khemist keep up with them?

I have been toying with the idea of giving a khemist the thermal rider cloak. So not only can he just keep up with them, but also be able to debuff a unit fighting the riggers/wardens. Sucks to lose the earburster or a defensive artefact to keep general alive (typically in mhornar) though. Some cool conversion opportunities though!

Can you more experienced KO players provide some feedback on this list? I know Brokk isnt the most optimal, but I LOVE the model and being able to move, run, shoot and charge turn one seems LEGIT.  and He can certainly add some more PUNCH to the unit of 12 riggers. If I did take him out, what should I sub in?? THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL ADVICE!

P.S. I love the thought of the incantor using some KO tech to call in a giant meteor from space and dropping it on the battlefield. Definitely going to be painting it up as if its  metallic/iron

  9. Game play wise, the only discernible difference between a standard GUO and a Exalted GUO is that the Exalted GUO has one extra attack with his bilesword and also hits on a 3+ to start, whereas the GUO hits on a 4+. But the Exalted GUO costs 160 more points and doesnt even get the option of a second weapon! No bell no flail..nothing! The regular GUO is objectively better then the exalted GUO which is a shame.

  10. Be the hero we need. Run list three and document your experience thoroughly and report back. That list looks EPIC!!

I like where your head is at in terms of the virulent contagion trait. I would strongly recommend the pestilent breathe.. in case you get swarmed by chaff. That way you can clear out 1/3 of them. Especially because the low model count army can have trouble taking objectives away from large units.

Now that looks fun! And I have all the models except the Taurus spell. What would your list look like with glotking? Would he be general with witherstaff

I have to work out how the glott Kim would work into the list. He cannot have a command trait or an artifact because he is a unique character. And the witherstave is a “requirement” to be competitive IMO.  So I have to figure out how I could slot him in...but 2 wound bestigors doing mortals on 5s sounds tasty 😄

You could swap the Great Bray Shaman and Cogs for the new Beastgrave warband plus a Balewind or other cheap endless spell.

The wizard's retinue take wounds for him on a 4+, so you could consider him a 7 wound rather than 5 wound shaman. And a spell that gives +1 to hit.

I cant because that would bring me over the 400 points I'm allowed for allies, unfortunately.  Otherwise I TOTALLY would! And I think the extra 10 bestigors for 60 points is worth it over access to the spell. I will certainly be trying it out though!

  13. Im already shifting my list, in anticipation of this new mechanic (ignoring DPR) being the hip new trend. Especially with an entire NEW army being released around the corner. In order to do well competitively you have to adapt! Going to try lists with No harbinger and No warshrine! I'm at the "drawing board" for LVO. I REALLY want to stay as the top ranked nurgle player on ITC. Thats my goal for this year.

Looking at something like this. Not sure if it will be competitive but it sure would be FUN! And I want to use my damn PESTigor models!!! Bestigors would be a max of 16" movement, d6+1 run and charge 2d6+2, with a 4" pile in!

Could go less speed but more punch and use my favorite model (GLOTTKIN) instead of GUO and take out the cogs or taurus. Would also give you BLADES, as well as two wound bestigors LOL

The Maelstrom is always good, simply because it's cheap and brings more Unbinding.

I get that internet wisdom states that Geminids are basically auto-includes, but I'd not take them, personally.

They are harder to cast, at casting 7, and the Firebelly doesn't get a bonus.  They bring a nice amount of Mortal Wounds, certainly, but my KO cause plenty of ranged wounds just fine.  Seems kind of superfluous.

Finally, they bring some nice de-buffs, but let's face facts - we are KO.  Whatever we have that gets charged in melee is going to be slaughtered, de-buffs or no.

No, as I stated in an earlier post, in wargaming, armies that are shooting-based typically want stuff that is going to Control the enemy - slow them down, or force them to move a certain way.  Those are the spells I'd. E looking at, given access to wizards.

Good call! perhaps Shackles is a good one then. Palisade could prevent los for shooting, but as long placement is purposeful I suppose that's useful to! And it cant be moved, so it shouldnt backfire on us, unless they use it as cover. Anybody use the shackles-lite from forbidden power?

Hi folks, I was doing a Tamurkhan Horde list using BattleScribe and Tamurkhan himself features there as costing 460 points, but in the pdf from Forge World it says that the cost is 420. Apparently the General’s handbook 2019 didn’t introduced any changes, so I’m a bit confused about its point cost.  Would be much appreciated if someone could shed a  bit of light into this!

The Maggotman? Yes The Maggotman, who lives on fecund lane! HAH! He is 420 points. Consider using Warscroll Builder. Its a free (mobile friendly) list building tool thats an official GW product. 100% free. Export to pdf, saveable, copy-able.. https://www.warhammer-community.com/warscroll-builder/

If it is 58.3% success and 41.7% unbind then it would be 34% chance of going through (you multiply 0.583 by the chance they DON'T unbind it, not the chance they unbind it). So 0.583*(1-0.417). However, that is not taking into account the chance you roll an 8 (or more), leaving them an even smaller chance to unbind - I could be wrong but I think the actual chance it goes through in the end (not taking into account any +to cast/unbind) is 44.8%. I know I'm being a bit picky about it but if I am correct with this then its worth realizing 44.8% is significantly better than 24.4%. Have not looked at this before so admit I could be wrong and apologies if I am!

You are 100% correct. I no do maths good. I just find I get it to proc once per game and like 1/3 games there is a viable/juicy target. And since It takes a ROTBRINGER sorc to cast, I wouldnt normally include festus for 140 when I can have the epitome for 200. But it is certainly a viable strategy, just not one Im investing into.

  16. Nice line-up of models you got there.. It'd be a shame if someone.... helped you with a list :P

Those are some varied armies you have to face! HARDY troops, shooty troops, massed troops! Whats your playstyle? What units would you like to use? Thats a huge list. Noticeably no plaguebearers so either mortal troops or a pestilent throng.

My town meta is kinda competitive so I don't mind advices from tournament point of view :). So for mortal build that is competetive - blightkings and some alies /slaves to darknes. But how about demons? Is triple GUO only valid option for demons? I was thinking about Glotkin with plaguebarers - his spell on them would create a very resilient meat wall. And command ability would allow to soak some damage.  What do you think guys?
And is bloab roatspawned worth giving a shot or no?

Ive posted this list before. Hope Im not being annoying by doing so again. This is my current tournament list. Will be adjusting it in preparation for LVO. I want to maintain my current status as top nurgle in ITC! But I took this list to NOVA, won the one day RTT, and came in 18th in the GT. Its probably not the best list. but I LOVE it. I dont like taking minimum sized units. This list lack a big tough hero. So will struggle on some missions. I only lost to the guys who came in first and second place haha.. William Soehaili (won the gt) brought  a 3 keeper slaanesh list. Played him on Knife to the heart. And Joe Krier (legendary tzeencth player) and his changehost, on focal points.

  18. @Ajas I would avoid all battalions save for blight cyst if you want to build around that. They are simply to overpriced. The book was written in a time where there was a big backlash against battalions.. and it is evident.  Persoanlly Im not a huge fan of blight cyst. I find to many armies have or have access to spells that can shield themselves from rend. I also find the Lord of Blights requirement a tax. So its essentially 340 points for something that I have found to be mitigated by my opponent.  Just my own playstyle though.. as I almost exclusively play tournament builds.

Pusgoyle  Blightlords excel at flying over chaff and attacking support heros. Especially with a lord of afflictions to double their movement.  They suffer from not being able to clear hordes off an objective, and not being able to secure an objective.. as 5 models simply takes it from them. Great models, with a roll.. but not a true competitive unit. $ blightlords with a harbinger of decay behind them is truly in UNMOVEABLE unit though.

Consider ally in the broken and hilariously undercosted (points) Contorted Epitome (the model with the big mirror) from Slaanesh. At 200 points its a double caster, double unbind. RR all casting, unbinding and dispelling attempts. Has a native spell that works fine in Nurgle (pick d3 enemy units and RR ones to hit against those units.. great for blightkings) and is a great way to reliably cast realm spells which are very strong (if you play with those). Also can make every unit strike LAST in the combat phase on 4+.

    Hi guys!

I'm new Nurgle player (and new AoS player), and I want to make nurgle as strong as possible.
I had read some of your discussions  when I was preparing my lists, but one thing is not perfectlly clear for me.  A lot of you recomend Chaos Marauders, as combo with BoP, because of their +1 to hit ability. But why do not use 40 plague monks instead? Monks cost only 80 points more for 40, have way more attacks (pair of blades + charge = 6 atacks per monk if I understand srcoll corectly?). They also get rerols of hit rols for blades + with icons 6 will not only deal a additional mortal but also got -1 rend and deal 2dmg . Sunds like perfect glass canon to me.

Or maybe the fact that marauders have save on 5+, combo with harbringer and cost 80 less is much more important? Can you please give me some advices :)?

Also maybe some advices about how I should play nurgle ( not in term of army building, but more battlefield behaviours)? I like the army and the fact that is very tanky, but sometimes I just lose because mobility is very low and dmg is not so great and I can't take objectives fast enough. Some tips would be great (for example do nurgle want to go first or give the priority turn 1 etc).

    Thanks in advance :)!

Great question! I choose to use maruaders for a couple reasons. One is its takes SO damn long to resolve attacks with that unit. Not to mention if you have multiple targets. Since I am either preparing for a tournament or playing in a tournament every single time I play.. a HARD 2.5 time limit (which includes any prematch banter, set-up describing my army etc..)shapes my warscroll decisions.

In my army I have utilized both the Harbinger of decay and a chaos warshrine do provide multiple DPRs (damage prevention rolls). Blades is a 7 to cast which is a success rate of 58.3%. Essentially a 50:50 cast. and an unbind rate of 41.7% Which is a 24.4% of going through. And thats without the enemy having a unbind bonus. Correct me if I am wrong but there is NO available casting bonus for ROTBRINGER WIZARDS. So a 1/4 chance of success. Anecdotally, I rarely get the perfect combination of successful casting, unsuccessful unbinding, and a viable/relevant target. So I need this unit to do something else. Marauders (in my list) Just dont die. 5+/5++/6++ most of the time the enemy is RR 6's to hit (witherstave) and quite often RR 6's to wound (cycle). So i use them as a tarpit/speed bump, swarm objectives, with a potential of a huge damage spike. Monks are a glass cannon which doesnt synergize with the direction and flow of my army, but reamin a viable option in many lists.

In terms of playstyle, what units do you like? While mixing demons and mortals is a possibility, I find it helps to mix as little as possible. The exception being blightkings in a demon army, as a cheap AND effective battleline. Thricefold is fun and strong, but relies heavily on magic, which other armies are simply better at.. so its highly matchp dependent. I play a blightking spam list because I love the models and the warscroll, but It can be a challenging army to use.
