You can not field Bonesplitterz/Kruleboyz units in an Ironjawz army. The only ally is Gitz.

WTF, you are right. It was so obvious (in my head) that you can field them as allies (bloody warscrolls are in the same book...), that never bothered to check this. Thanks for it pointing out

You can do almost any ironjawz list with those models. Probably go brute/ardboy heavy with da choppas or take the gore gruntas and maw krusha and do ironsunz. The wurrgog is unfortunately only usable if you do big waagh, but he's a staple there.

Wurrgog is perfectly usuable. He might not be the most efficient choice point-wise because he cannot choose spells from the Bonesplitters' lore when in an ironjawz army but for anything other than competitive tournament games he is perfectly fine. His warscroll spell is very good and he can always cast mystic shield and arcane bolt.

This is a fun list you got there. Go for it, see, what you like and work from there

  3. Hello people,

So how your boyz fare against the big angry snake lady? Generally we are in a  great position nowadays but I feel this particular matchup is a bit tricky.

A good friend of mine is trying different Morathi + bowsnakes lists while preparing for a tournament. I had given him headaches with my IDK list but when I switched to Ironjawz every game is an uphill battle for me. I have managed to win only once in 4 games and even then the feeling was that it was due to grave mistakes and (very) bad rolls from his side rather than proactive decision making and good army operation from my side. (he also did not play Hag Nar that time intentionally handicapping himself).

Main problem seems to be that I cannon reliably chip the 3 wounds per round from Morathi without exchanging too many points in return. One cabbage for 3 wounds is not an acceptable tit for tat and this is usually what happens. Ignoring her also does not work (she can easily go after the cabbages with her flying 14" movement and our huge bases do not help)

My friend can caste really well building around the two morathi's as twin towers using some cheap screens and deploying 15 bowsnakes at 6in from the screen + 10 spear snakes for counter charges. It works wonders.

I play 2 cabbages + 3 warchanters + teleport weirdnob and a mix of gruntas and brutes (ironsunz). Last game I tossed the brutes for extra gruntas and bloodtoofs which worked much better.

Interested to read your thoughts and the solutions you have come up against this matchup

  4. Before getting into the 3D printing rabbit hole my answer to your question was an emphatic YES.

After seeing what truly lies out there created by amazing artists and waiting to be discovered there is not even a question. GW is no longer making the best models.

My only "but" to this debate is when longevity and utility of the models enters the equation. Resin being brittle can pose problems in the long run.

But if we are speaking strictly about sculpt aesthetics, execution, level of detail and artistic value, i.e if we are discussing display pieces, there imho GW is in deep trouble in the years to come.

Your analogy would hold weight if that game was called The Lord of the Rings, or something so similar it could only be interpreted as the Lord of the Rings.

This is mostly about nouns and how those nouns are used to sell a product. It's not the content or the product itself that violates IP.

I know. I am just planning a new gloomspite army and wanted to see if trolling works for me

  6. IP shall be protected - end of story

Imagine if a company tried to make money by copying Tolkien’s universe creating a tabletop game with humans, elfs and dwarfs battling against orcs and dragons. Or even worse if the same company was trying make money selling a tabletop which copied Herbert’s space opera universe with an immortal emperor of man, space crusaders, religious female orders, and psychic propelled space travel .

That would be scandalous IP infringement and would have to be immediately removed.

  7. Can someone confirm my understading or explain otherwise:

Gotrek as an ally with Ionarch enclave

    - Can use tides of death

    but

-Cannot fly (why people play him as flying?)

-Cannot be ignonred by shooters with Forgotten Nightmares (why everyone treats him as having the IDONETH keayword?)

I am probably missing something. I have seen several people playing with Gotrek as having the IDONETH keyword but I cannt find anything about it on the battletome

    Thanks

  8. Happy to share with you my first 1500 points of Idoneth Deepkin. In these strange times I bought, assembled and finished painitng all these models before playing my first gme with them. Its a great feeling hitting the table with a new army that is full painted (well almsot fully painted) .

In fact I bought these models just as "Moranthi"dropped and decided to go for a built with a bit of everything insted of eels-only. I was very happy to read later on that sharks and turtles are now very viable.

I played my frst two games last week and was really happy with the playstyle and the power of the army. They suit my style very much (low count, high mobility). In fact, I am happy the army is not only eeals becasue that would be too powerful for the casual games we enjoy with my friends.

    So, here they are.

  9. For me Ardboyz represent the common GW tactic of makign the ugliest, oldest  sculpt of your army, the most essential one competitive -wise so that you have to buy and paint tons of something sub-par while ignoring all the amazing models . I could never get to grips with assemblying and painintg more than 10.

Seriously It has been done so many times by GW it is hard to believe it is a coincidence. Ardboyzs, skinks, witch elfs, demonetes, marauders... For this and just this reason I am negatively predisposed against ardboyz.

I would like to see them been given a new sculpt with the now rumored Ironjawz wave 2.

All we need is little protection to our heroes.

Our main problem is hero plinking, from magic or shooting. Thats all.

if that was true we would face problems only from shooting/ magic heavy armies which is not the case.

  11. I have this feeling that NH can go from bottom to top tier with very subtle changes, namely:

    1. A more reliable charge while deepstriking  (some mechanism providing a bonus to charge)

    2. A more reliable model ressurrection ability

    3. A  mechanism for a  slightly more probable Wave of terror

    4. A couple of spells / artifacts that actually worth our time (this can go back to pints 1-3)

All these are in line with the army theme and not so difficult to improve. But in general it seems to me that NH are a very difficult army to balance. They can go from "too weak" to "too powerful" very easily ...

So 3 games against lizards. Twice was coalesced, once starborn. All 3 games were over by turn 2. I rolled well below average throughout all 3 games as well 😂. The joys of power creep 😂

I played with a fluff NH list (Olynder, Black Coach, Forgotten Scoions).against a Kroak + 3  bastiladon list in a local tournament. End of round 2 I had two models on the table:  Olynder+  one chainrasp. I had seen this coming so I played very aggresively, teleporting for table control and pinning him in his deployment zone to score objectives as fast as possible. By the end of round 2 I was seriously leading on points despite being double turned.

We had time for only one more round. If I won the initiative I would score too many points fo him to catch up in his turn. If I lost the roll, he would wipe me from the table and catch up.

I lost the initiative roll and the game. But gave the ugly toad a good scare :)

We can do it!  But we need a lot of luck. If I had pulled through a single wave of terror with my Bladegeists or simply one bloody initiative roll I could have beaten one of the hardest lists currently out there  with a fluffy NH list.

    So, do not dispar...

Well now that I am thinking about it... do dispair. We are NH after all :)

Thats my list with the same goals in mind - ok, 12 eels, but with every game I play, I want more eels... 🥴

    Thanks @Sonnenspeer

I feel you. I have been stubornly tryying to play Ironjawz with brutes  instead 100000000 ardboyz  😆. Its a futile exercise. At least the eels are nice models

So how ow does your list fare so far? any particular weaknesses/ strong points?

  14. Hi everyone

Just considering to take the plunge into ID mostly for modelling / collecting reasons (I find the models gorgeous in their hyperbole-I mean...flying sharks !!!!)

My question is, are there any  viable lists that are not totally dominated by eels? After studying the book, it seems that eels are two leagues above anything else but I dont want to be painitng more than 6 of those dudes. Especially with the Eidolon and the flyng turtles/ flying sharks as potential models to be included.

I am not looking into building something top tier. Most of my gaming is casual with the odd local tournament. I need something that has a viable gaming chance  that includes as many of our beautiful models as possbile.

Any ideas/ insight would be greatly appreciated!

  15. Olynder

I love the model, and for that reason she is always in my army roster but she is so difficult to play as meant to... The model suffers from a badly written warscroll . She has to lead from behnd due to her 7 wounds and at the same time she has to be in the front line due to the short range of all of her abilities and her slow movement compared to the rest of the army.

If you manage to get here where needed she can be as devastating as a Mortarch should be, but this happans very very rarely...

    In addition:

The  whole terryfying/ target bravery aspect of Nighthaunt is dissapointing. It could / should be the major theme of the army,. It could be the only AoS army playing around this feature adding true variety in the game. But the way things are its not working...

  16. Mini report on a local shop tournament I went this weekend with below a double cabbage list. Although small it was a strong event with very experienced players and super-honed lists (in retrospect my list was a bit out of place but I wanted to play 2 cabages for a long time… :)).

I usually play super aggressive IJ lists with multiple mighty destroyers and S&B. This time a decided to try an ”out of character” "slow to erupt" Big Waagh list.

    Spoiler

    Allegiance: Big Waaagh!

    Megaboss on Maw-Krusha (460)

First game against a heavy magic 220 wounds bonespiltters’ list. Scenario was gift from the heavens.  I deployed in banker formation and stayed behind until start of my second round where I hit the 20 Waagh points. Opponent hold also back initially. It became early evident that I could not compete in magic as his casters were all casting dispelling with multiple bonuses. Fortunately his magic damage output was small and he relied mostly on giving bonuses to his units. On my second round I unleased the cabbages and they obliterated anything on their path. It was glorious. Mean-Un’ed Godrack finished 10 pigs in a single round of combat and the other cabbage killed 22 of a 30 man savage orcs with spears. Both received 1 wound in return which promptly healed with SfV. Then at the end of 3th round I did a mistake letting gap in my screens guarding my objective. Opponent  noticed and cleverly super buffed a 10 pig unit, flyed across the board with breath of Gorkamorga and then pulled a 15 inches charge (he needed to roll at least 11 to go past the screens and he rolled 12). I had to win the next initiative to avoid him playing first and stealing the objective. Lost the roll off and we called it since I had no means of catching up on round 5. Major loss. Overall a very fun and positive game against a very competent and cunning opponent.

    image.png.a3378c9695035a4feda1cdac2ef1effc.png

Second game was places of arcane power against fyreslayers. The whole game I felt like  a 5 years old skinny boy trying to dent a heavy weight boxing champion. Despite that by the end of the 4rd round I could still “steal the game” if I won the critical priority roll. I lost the priority and lost the game. Dices didn’t help and it was a major loss hands down. Not much to say. I feel fyresayers are a hard counter for us and it always feel an uphill battle against them. Rolling 7 ones on 14 x 2+ saves does not help either 😊. Major Loss and not a very enjoyable game.

    image.png.0f0739b472fa110645a59eb856c7ad14.png

Third game was knife to the heart against the new Slaves to Darkness. Never played against them and did not know what to expect. I deployed in a tank position again and waited to hit 20 waagh points in around 2. Then unleased the cabbages and promptly started deleting chaos knights (a unit of 10 wend down in one go). It looked good 😊 At this point I felt pray to my inexperience. Remembering marauders as "something weak"I left Gordrakk exposed. Opponent proceeded teleporting 40 marauders 9 inches away from him and then charging him with an almost guaranteed charge (had no clue new marauders can turn one dice into a 6 automatically). Then all of them hit and wound with full rerolls and extra attacks resulting in 44, -1 rend saves on poor big G. With G out I HAD to win next initiative to retaliate with the other cabbage and remove the big 40 blob. I lost, he charge into my objective and put more models than me inside (I had a unit of 20 ardboyz inside but he managed to put more marauders after combat was resolved). Major Loss. Good game overall lost mainly due to bad decisions and lack of knowledge on my side. I have never seen marauders pulling off tricks like this. I should had absolutely avoid being charged by them. Probably best strategy was to bunker and wait for him to come to me but I was frustrated/ unpatient from the previous game plus  I  totally underestimated marauders . Major loss  but  a fun and educating game.

A bit disappointed overall with the 0-3 …. Your thoughts and advice would be very appreciated by this bruised Megaboss 😂
