  1. People were saying the new book is looking weak. I don't think that's true. Whether it is healthy or not is a different discussion.
  2. I think the Soulblight rules are looking pretty good. I was surprised by the zombie changes. They lost the bonuses to hit but they gained a six inch pile in and they do mortals on a six to hit. They also get to add a killed model on a 2+ rather than the old 6+. That's not too bad for cheap chaff.
  3. The thing about the bin and sin writers is that there are actually 3 writers. Each of them have written both sin and bin books. Also the majority of books are firmly middle of the road.
  4. I think if they said earlier that they would do a made to order run if necessary, it would solve a lot of problems.
  5. The riders of ruin ability lets you skip over a screen you are in combat with doing damage as you go and charge a unit behind them. That's not too bad. Also given that this book is written with third edition in mind it suggest they are going to separate normal moves and retreats. I always though it was weird that a retreat was a sub category of normal moves and not its own thing.
  6. I can't find anything that matches those arrows in the range. It could be a Ghurish cities of Sigmar unit. The arrows don't look sleek enough for Aelves or slipshod enough for destruction. We also already have a rumour image that looks a lot like a Stormcast quiver.
  7. I'm pretty sure battalions will just become narrative or open only.
  8. I'm pretty sure there will be a preview on May 29th that shows off the launch box in full. I also think the logo we keep seeing will be part of a longer animated video like we saw for 9th edition. As for the deathless minions rule the Soulblight have a lot more heroes on big bases than the nighthaunt. That should make the 12inch restriction a lot easier to manage. I also like the summoning mechanic, especially the fact that it gets easier when there are more dead bodies around. It's nicely thematic.
  9. That's the same rumour from earlier which Whitefang said was fake but not fake which is rather frustrating. I am almost at the point that I hope I hate the new destruction faction. If the rumours of Shadow Aelves and new Cities kits are true, I'm going to be very poor indeed.
  10. Sure. I won’t begrudge people liking something new if it doesn’t appeal to me. I used the gobbapalooza an example to show the kind of unfettered creativity I hope to see rather than specifically hoping for something goblinesque. The art and minis I’ve seen for Fimir so far look rather dull and bland except for the faces which I personally hate.
  11. I really hope the destruction side is nothing to do with Fimir. I absolutely despise that aesthetic. The beak heads are just awful. Alf genuinely gave me nightmares when I was a kid. I hope they got whoever designed the gobbapalooza to do the new range. That's the kind of aesthetic I want.
  12. This was the first AoS model I painted. and I still think this is one of my favourite gw models ever. They absolutely still hold up. That said I’m down for new Stormcast. I’m really looking forward to the reveal of the destruction side. If they can capture some of the character that the new Gloomspite exuded, I will definitely be buying the new starter set. Exciting times ahead!
  13. I don't think it's a plan to phase out old Stormcast anymore than the sequitors or the vanguard were. I do live the new look though. My Stormcast army is definitely getting some reinforcement. Does everyone think Yndrasta will be in the starter box? I'm very curious to see the destruction side. The Soul wars box was the first time I've genuinely liked every model in a starter set. I hope this edition continues the trend.
  14. Tyrion riding a big dragon. AoS 3 announced but only one mini from each faction. Digital battletomes going away like 40k.
  15. Well my Friday guess was 100% wrong, mostly because I thought they would do Orks on Tuesday. @Fairbanks If AoS3 isn't tomorrow then what is that Stormcast banner icon for?
  16. If it's not AoS3 tomorrow then what is that banner icon? Every other icon has lined up directly with the major reveals of the show. I do think we might see some other stuff there but there's no no doubt in my mind that AoS3 will be talked about tomorrow.
  17. I do think we will see AoS 3 on Saturday but it's a matter of hope Vs expectation. I hope we get a full reveal of the box as we did at Warhammer fest 2018. I think that was my favourite so far as they announced AoS 2 and Adeptus Titanicus. I expect to see one Stormcast and one mini Orruk. I do not expect to see any rules news. They almost never talk rules at these kinds of previews. Monday's Kragnos info was a surprise. I hope we also see a Horus Heresy starter box and hear info about Eisenhorn. I don't expect a video as they almost certainly haven't started filming yet. I also don't actually expect to see Horus Heresy. There have been very few rumours about it except for some vague speculation about MkII armour. Whatever happens on Saturday, with the confirmation that Broken Realms Kragnos is the last book, there is no doubt that AoS 3 IS coming this summer. So even if we hear nothing on Saturday we won't have long to wait to see everything that AoS 3 has to offer and in the meantime we have a Soulblight book that will probably go on pre-order in 2 weeks.
  18. The old world is being made by Andy Hoare and the folks at specialist games. It falls broadly into the same category as Necromunda and blood bowl although the scale of the production will probably be larger. It is entirely possible we see something from it today. Personally I hope we both old world and Horus Heresy stuff today. It would clear the way for AoS 3 on Saturday.
  19. Not doing too bad so far. Successfully guessed Kragnos, Soulblight, sisters, 40k campaign book, Seige of Terra, Warhammer crime and the lack of AoS novels. If anything one of the more disappointing elements of Warhammer fest is how predictable it has been so far. Hoping for some genuine surprises in the last few days.
  20. Both polls had over a thousand responses so more than a handful but certainly not conclusive. Gw never releases numbers so we are all just speculating here. Personally I don’t think any army that currently has a book will be canned. We might see a faction dwindle away but given the 4 year timeframe I mentioned earlier I don’t think any faction is anywhere near that. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if Fyreslayers got little support for the next two or three years given their seeming lack of popularity. To get back to rumours there is some speculation that the three missing factions from Broken realms might be the first up for new books in AoS3. So we could see an initial order of: Stormcast New destruction Skaven Khorne Beasts of Chaos. That would mean a lot of chaos books though.
  21. No sales data but there have been two different polls by a user on tga and by Warhammer weekly that ranked fyreslayers as the least popular faction. They are also one of the least represented factions in competitive play despite having very strong rules. I've no idea what the threshold for canned is. Historically it's something gw has been very reluctant to do.
  22. Correlation doesn't equal causation. I think a lot of people are a touch short-sighted when it comes to future releases. In terms of meaningful waves of minis the maximum they've done for AoS is 6 per year. That means a minimum of 4 years to do every faction. I think a more likely scenario is that gw looked at their upcoming slate of releases, realized that ironjawz and bonesplittas weren't scheduled to get anything for a while and decided to release a combined book. The overriding impetus of second edition was to give every faction a book. Now that they have successfully done that they can re-examine the range. The combination of bonesplittas and ironjawz gave both factions and the combined big waagh a new lease of life on the competitive scene despite the lack of new minis. Look at legions of Nagash. Gw created a combined book but then over the course of three new books gradually split everything out again. I have a feeling we might see a similar thing with destruction in the next few years. Unfortunately I think fyreslayers might be at the back of the queue when it comes to new releases. They are officially AoS's least popular faction after all. A combined book might save them from being canned.
