Once they've announced what's in the box and done the full reveal on the 16th/17th(?), we'll get the full faction focuses I think. As a few people have pointed out before this box was teased earlier than the 40k one last year so they're not cramming as much info in an alloted time. I don't think it's a bad thing either! I can only take in so much info on a weekly basis let alone a daily basis 😅

The Darkoath box arrived last night and it's glorious! The front of the box got a bit battered in transit (everything inside is safe) but these models are absolutely gorgeous

Anywho, maybe it's another dead-cat like with the AoS ranges being removed; drop some nasty news and then after a couple of days drop some very hype news and all (most) is forgiven and forgotten

Big Dinoboss is done! My Darkoath box should arrive today and I was also a bit gungho on ebay and managed to snipe 3 chariots too! I might convert them to have Darkoath riders/controllers so they fit with that theme

That sounds rad! More Character customisation is more good! 😍

Dinoman is getting there. Washes are down and it's all layering and highlights from here! The carapace needs brightening up I think but I'm liking the effect so far

For reference, the 40k combat patrols for the Marines and the Nids both do not use the full contents of each half of the boxset. For example, the Marine Combat Patrol is: Their full half of the Leviathan box includes the above plus 5 more marines, a lieutenant and a dreadnought The Nid Combat patrol is: Their full half of the Leviathan boxset includes the above plus The Neurotyrant, Neuroguants and Screamer Killer They both also have another Combat Patrol each too with the Space Marine one being based on the old Vanguard/Combat Patrol of Phobos marines and the Nid one is all Lictors, both coming from White Dwarf if I'm not mistaken. Stormcast already have one Spearhead ready to go with Yndrasta and they'll be able to build one from "Rataclysm" so I'd imagine Skaven will get a second later on down the line built around a theme like the Lictor one for example.

So the Launch box does come with Terrain then? Very cool!

Damn that intro goes hard: I'd seen all the rules with the leaks but the lore in here is really rad like: The only thing I'd wished they'd have done is to have painted some alternate paint schemes than their normal studio one. That would've been cool! Although they're an extra thing to keep track of, I do hope the Oaths stay around. They're really cool thematic rules 😊

Those are some really sick changes, it helps people that don't bring wizards or priests for whatever reason. Love the battlefield wide heal on the Fyreslayers Terrain piece, I wonder if the FEC throne is the same!

7 more mans done brings me up to the full 20 Warriors! With Underworlds being rolled into Legends it means I didn't need to paint the extra 3 models for this unit which I think is quite handy. I didn't really run the Underworlds unit by themselves anyways as it's just another 2 units to keep track of 😅 Lord on Kharkadrak up next I think!

Plowing onwards, I'm hoping to get the rest of the Salves to Darkness finished off before 4th edition starts. I've got these 7 warriors, a couple of mounted characters, 5 more Chosen and a Daemon Prince to paint... Then the Darkoath box arrives this weekend 😅 Still WIP but we're getting there!

After getting married on Monday, I wanted a chill easy project whilst deep diving Fallout lore videos 😅 Thankfully the Endless Spells finally arrived so I painted them mostly with contrast paints and the last of the skin mix I use for my ghouls, they're such rad models! At some point soon I'm hoping to pick up the Skinnerkin, Goremayne and also hopefully Ushoran but I'm not too sure when just yet! 😁

I got married on Monday so I've been a little busy but I've still been painting away in the background (it's very calming 😅) so I got the Theridons done: The 'Roids so far: I'm also most of the way through a Myrmidon too, I'll see how I feel about the skin when it's complete: I managed to order a Darkoath box too which I'm hoping I'll have painted in time for the start of 4th edition! 😁

Yessss, I love these! The Oath rules are so sick and thematic if a tad easy to forget, hopefully they stay around for 4th edition too! I'm really interested to see more about the Wilderbeast dynamic as that's a really cool concept that Chaos doesn't have yet. Something not inherently evil and maleovent and a kind of guardian. More please!

They did similar with Guard and World Eaters in 40k at the end of 9th edition, at least it's a supplement that's free elsewhere and not a full Battletome! 😅 As others have pointed out it's very odd that Gunnar and chums isn't appearing here at the same time unless their announcement timings were entirely coincidental 🤔

Very excited for the Darkoath box! A printed version of the Supplement is a bit silly but it'll work out cheaper to buy this than separately later down the line 😁

I wouldn't be a huge fan of it if they were to take it this way but Beasts of Chaos? I suppose GHR and Beastmen's distain of Chaos does sort of align?

What is best in life? I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on the Darkoath box! 😊
