  1. Check this out. You just need to change the blade position and you are good to go. This is how peasants were turned into actual infantry in the 18th and 19th century. The picture Forging of the scythes is a standard element of school history books in Poland 🙂 There is even a Polish military manual on the scythe techniques published in the early 19th century.
  2. Section 14.0 Wounds suggests that damage inflicted by attacks is different than mortal wounds caused. As Scaly Skin refers to damage inflicted by each successful attack I would argue that it does not work against MW. Moreover, only regular attacks have a damage characteristic.
  3. Judging by the Seraphon I'm almost sure that some warscrolls will simply get removed and new units will be used to replace the old ones. So, the first issue here is not "what needs replacement" but rather "what will remain".
  4. You don’t get a point for the Realmshaper, but otherwise you are correct. Now, I’ve played against HoS, so the summoning worked for both sides - and on my side the power of it is somewhat mitigated by the lack of models (that’s why I used Azure Light). But still, it’s really easy to drop units here and there.
  5. For smaller games without a Slann I would instantly switch to Coalesced. For Starborne I really feel that every list has to start with a Slann.
  6. One more thing I noticed - the summoning through Cosmic Power is really effective. With the Slann alone I was able to easily generate 5-7 points in my turn and ended up using Azure Light twice and summoning Ripperdactyls and Skinks (205 points in total). For a 600 points game this is huge.
  7. I've played a small PtG battle yesterday (600 pts) against HoS. The list included Slann, Saurus Guard, Skinks and Hunters of Huanchi (bolas). Saurus Guards with Mystic Shield on and some resurrection from Azure Light tanked the majority of the enemy for the whole battle; they eventually died to the Lord of Pain, but managed to bind and kill Slickblade Seekers and Twinsouls. The "killing" part was heavily supported with the Slann's magic, but still... not bad for a 130 pts. unit.
  8. I’ve finished my Cosmic Saurus Guards - and they have immediately tanked half of the HoS army in our path to glory campaign and allowed Seraphon to prevail in their eternal struggle against Chaos. Painted models play better!
  9. These guys are not finished yet, but it is what it is - my only painting accomplishment in May.
  10. http://redelf.narod.ru/w6/albion/a_treasures.html Treasures of the Old Ones. Armour of the Gods (aka Power Armour) for High Elves was sooo good for mere 35 points.
  11. The term "brochure" would better reflect the actual content of this publication. But I have to be honest here - I simply don't like this weird and shallow mix of CEE tropes they called Kislev.
  12. I would call this one a soft nerf, though. The effect seems weaker, but it also applies to all attackers. I wonder if we should expect similar change to the Seraphon Scaly Skin.
  13. They are not going to do anything. Just buy more models and the new bases separately. Seriously, I think that people here are thinking about the cross-compatibility way, way more than GW does.
  14. Oh yes, you are right. I have already forgotten this article; wasn't it just a bunch of design sketches from a computer game though? As for their idea for TOW I guess its just "We give you the final and ultimate WFB edition. You will get the official ruleset, the opportunity to buy all the old stuff you apparently love so much and a handful of new models from time to time". Nothing more, nothing less.
  15. Was Kislev ever a proper WFB army? There is your answer.
  16. I plan to start Path to Glory soon, hopefully with the new Seraphon - so I had to shift my attention from OBR. Test model for Starborne Saurus:
  17. It’s easier with the KO, as the mobility and punch are rather obviously linked. In Seraphon, the really mobile units either have no punch at all and/or are very fragile. So it’s more for surprise objectives control and forcing awkward choices.
  18. I do not question your maths. I have IJ, KO and OBR to compare with Seraphon and it is rather obvious that the lizards somewhat lack in their damage output. As for the rest, I guess we should first differentiate between the Starborne and the Coalesced. These are effectively different armies. Coalesced will probably be Saurus based with some very strong magic support (Slann / Kroak). I like this idea - but I am also not a big fan of huge models and so I haven’t really checked the thunder lizard ideas. Starborne - the abilities are cool. Magic, cosmic power, teleports, summoning. However, the only consistent source of damage is Kroak, and that is not a very entertaining way to play. Moreover, if you want to really benefit from the summoning you are forced into very specific build (Kroak, Slann, Astrolith…).
  19. Skinks - the natural comparison would rather be something like Hobgrots. The skinks are squishy and deal almost no damage - but they are fast and can redeploy really effectively (and for free in the right army). For 85 points that is ok. Chameleons - just use the 90 points variant. Their power is in mobility alone - you can move them almost anywhere, every turn. Guards - they are a bit weak offensively (similarly to normal warriors), but they can protect any nearby hero and can be easily raised with cosmic power (starborne) or get substantial buffs (coalesced). Anyway, 10W with 3+ save for 130 is not bad. Oracle - its the combination of abilities that looks interesting. Serious question - do you judge everything based on the damage output per point cost value?
  20. What about Skinks (cheap, irritating screen), Chameleons, Guards, Bastiladon (Ark), Astrolith Bearer, Oracle? These are all solid scrolls (some with specific roles) that seem good and playable.
  21. I would also add that most of the "rumours" (what's in the picture? will they ever release this or that obscure army? pre-order this Saturday on next? chorfs confirmed! any chance for the magma-ponies this summer? next big dino and IDK sand whale - when? please be Malerion!) are the most boring part of the thread.
  22. Really nice review with Ridge from Season of War. The review team apparently sees more than just mathhammer here, as they speak very highly of the book.
  23. I have the following idea for now (all based on my starting package of the new army box + SC Skinks box + Hunters of Huanchi): Fangs of Sotek Slann (General, Comet's Call, Lord of Celestial Resonance, Spacefolder's Stave) - 275 Skink Starpriest (Speed of Huanchi or Cosmic Crush) - 130 Saurus Temple Guard (will use regular Saurus for this) - 130 Raptadon Chargers - 150 Ripperdactyl Riders - 120 Skinks - 85 Hunters of Huanchi (bolas) - 90 TOTAL: 980
