  1. I was thinking of grabbing those squig riders for the exact same purpose. I like their lighter armour to have a unit that's closer in look to the the Kruleboyz.
  2. As it stands, there should be 1070 points worth of Kruleboyz in the box. Unfortunately, there's not enough battleline units for a 1k game. So far, only the Gutrippaz are battleline and there's only 1 unit of them in there.
  3. That makes more sense. Totally missed the Battleline requirement on the Contest of Generals picture. Looks like Stormfiends can fill out Troops slots in a Core Battalion but you still need to go mono-Skryre for them to be considered Battleline.
  4. My bad, I somehow completely glossed over that Contest of Generals picture. It's clear as day there.
  5. If I'm understanding this correctly, does that mean that there's no "Battleline" distinction anymore? So for example, Skaven Stormfiends would now be considered "Troops" and I could take them to fill out my battalion? Sort of like mono-Skyre now, but I can take other clans units too?
  6. Yeah, I was lucky enough to find someone to split the box with, so I'm tentatively going Kruelboyz for now. If their followup releases aren't what I'm looking for I figure I just try to sell my half at cost and pivot to another army.
  7. One of the armies I'm considering is Cities of Sigmar, mainly for Anvilgard or Misthavn with a focus on Dark Elves. Dark Elves and some kind of converted, edgy Steam Tank.
  8. I feel you on that one, I'm currently trying to narrow down 6 armies to 1 for my first. Plus, knowing my luck, when I finally pick one that's when they bust out the rumoured new Dark Elves.
  9. Midway through the presentation I was hoping the Kruleboyz would get a ballista, and they did. Now I just want one or two more contraptions, like the old Doom Diver. Or maybe a catapult that fires a ball patterned after their shields. Like a big metal Kragnos head falling on you like the Majora's Mask moon.
  10. I vaguely heard them mention this, but did they specify how? Are they usable as allies or full parts of the army?
  11. I do hope the Kruleboyz end up with one or two fast units. Presumably the mounted Killaboss would have someone to ride with.
  12. The endless spells thing was that they move in each Hero Phase. So from my understanding it means they move twice as often.
  13. It's almost the same, and honestly if Skaven worked like Gits I'd be happy with that too. If I remember this right, Skaven's battleline access outside of Stormvermin and Clanrats requires that all units in the army be the same clan as the general (except for Masterclan generals like Grey Seers). So if you're general is Skryre or Masterclan, you get Stormfiends as a battleline. As soon as you add a non-Skryre unit Stormfiends lose the battleline keyword. Ditto for things like Eschen with Gutter Runners. I'll be honest, it's not a total deal-breaker for me, about 80-90% of the Skaven stuff I like is Skryre anyway. I would just love to be able to include some ninjas and a HPA for fun.
  14. When/if they update Skaven I'd love for them to have their battleline access slightly changed to match Cities of Sigmar. Basically have it so your general's clan determines your additional battleline units (Stormfiends for Skryre, etc) but while still allowing you to take other clan's stuff. I have no idea if this would be mechanically broken, and I guess it doesn't really match the lore. I just want to be able to build an elite Skaven army using Stormfiends, Doomwheels, Abominations and maybe a Deathmaster because he's cool.
  15. I'm in the same boat, I love the ramshackle goofiness that seems to follow GW Goblins around. If they have any kind of chariot unit I'd almost be tempted to get the Blood Bowl Snotling wagons for it.
  16. Give them some frog-mounted cavalry, though I wonder if thematically it would be too close to Boingrot Bounders/Squig Hoppers.
  17. I'd love that, just because bugs monster are cool. Then give me a beefy elite unit that looks like Stun the Insect from Bloody Roar.
  18. Yeah I'm sort of torn on this myself. Part of me would love a couple of new units, like some kind of short-range (12") cavalry like Dark Riders/Marauder Horseman. But at the same time, it's not really fair to want them to change a faction that's been around for years just so I would like it more. I know it's kind of "lazy", but I wouldn't mind if one of the subfactions had that 1-in-4 rule for Freeguild units or something. I'm not sure how you'd fit it lorewise, maybe some kind of royal huntsmen? Balance-wise, maybe exclude the Demigryph Knights so it's just the chaff-y units? I'll be honest I just want to run a bit of a monster mash with some Freeguild Outriders trying not to ****** themselves.
  19. I can kind of get that. I'm still hoping it's a fairly in-depth showing for the SGL range myself. I'm just getting into the game but was holding off on picking an army until I had a better idea of what they have. There's like 4-5 armies I could see myself playing, so the more information they put out (even if releases are a ways off) the better for me.
  20. Maybe treat it as a dual TOW/Total War reveal? Like a first extended look at Cathay using Total War, mention that some/all of these units will be part of TOW when it comes out.
  21. I'm praying the mystery announcement is like a first look at Cathay or Kislev for Fantasy/Total War. Partly because I actually want to see that, partly because I don't want to wait almost another week.
  22. That hurts to look at, and I mean that entirely as a compliment. What a great idea.
  23. Thankfully AoS is on Monday, it's "only" a week haha.
  24. I'm tempted to play an elite Skryre list just so I can load up on Bombardiers, Stormfiends and Doomwheels. I either kill you or blow myself up. If only Skryre had the HPA they'd be perfect.
  25. This part I can definitely see a concern with. I'm still narrowing down what army to play, but a lot of what I like (Cavalry, Heroes, Monsters) tends to lend themselves to small, elite lists. So as I was getting down to the nitty-gritty I spent a lot of time looking at battalions: -Seraphon are slow(ish)? Going Thunder Lizard with a Firelance and a Thunderquake templehost helps mitigate that. -Blood Knight heavy list might not make it downfield? Go with Crimson Keep for some free deepstrike and more reliable hits. -STD cavalry list light on bodies? Grab Ruinbringer for some extra damage on the charge. Also, I'll admit as a bit of a cheap-ass I like being able to eat up some points with the battalion.
