Roadmap, hooray! Can we let up on the soupspiracy for a bit now? Also, for what it's worth, a great chunk of 8th edition WH40k codex covers were reused. I agree it's not super exciting, but there's precedent.

True. I remember 8th Edition unified AdMech codex just reusing the Skitarii cover.

Are GW moving away from endless spells or just shitting on my army in particular? Notice that Warclans didn't get any even with the Kruelboyz range update.

At least Deepkin have that awesome ship wreck. Warclans have neither faction terrain nor endless spells.

Soulblight didn't get any as well. I think the last released faction terrain was the beautiful Shrine Luminor.. As for endless spells.. Um..Hedonites, Lumineth or Daughters?

  3. Huh. Reused battle tome covers are really weird, and if I were a Fyreslayer player I'd get the strong impression that GW doesn't care too much about the faction.

Daughters are also really unexpected, but I'm also glad because it means they probably won't get souped. And the cover looks really awesome!

Also Era of the Beast is clearly not Era of Destruction. Really bummed out for all Ogor fans. 😐

I feel like we will see the rest of the Corsiars tomorrow to round out the month but then we might get something for AOS the following Monday.

All I want are some Chaos Dwarves, Silent People, Kurnothi Aelves, Vampirates, Malerion on a skateboard, Halfling Knights riding ponycorns, and range refreshes for Skaven and Seraphon... is that too much to ask?

You forgot Tyrion, my friend. Surely you are just as gitty as I am for the Archmage's shining and radiant twin brother as the herald of the Lumineth's war aspect?! :)

I painted mine a little bit like Ymetrica, But I have played mostly Zaitrec. To me it doesn't matter what subfaction you play :)!

That's completely alright, of course. Mine are close to Ymetrica as well, just with turqoise instead of blue. But I was contemplating going Zaitrec as well before finally setlling with the scions of the mountain realm.

But what I meant was not whether it's cool to change the colour scheme (Of course it is!) but whether it's flavourful to flip-flop from one Nation to another every other week.

Thanks for the kind words!  The list I am building is Helon, but the great thing about LRL is there a few great sub factions, so I have a Syar list as well!

I figured looking at the Dawnriders, so much trim.

I don't really like Nation switching, since it kind of subtracts from the army's identity. But that's just my personal taste. I'm sure you'll have a great time with either Nation. :)

Would you mind posting future pictures in the 'Lumineth assemble' thread?

I have seen the future, one day there will be a single army with no internal balance and the ability to run Coalition units of Space Marines. Pretty soon one by one each unit will be squatted until only the coalition remains. That is how we will get the new game system Age of Guilliman... you see Horusy Heresy provides too many non-space marine options.

But in reality, I think it is not too hard to see why people suspect that the Dark version of Lumineth might be a soup army. As it will lead to an army led by dual gods in opposition to the gods of light/magic. Like the evidence is not directly textual or rumoured, as much as a sneaking suspicion that it would lead to a proper narrative and gameplay foil to the Lumineth.

Yup to the dark mirror image suapicion. Been saying the same thing for months, because it would make sense. And since DOK already have a decent range of models they wouldn't even need to develop that many units for Malerion's gang. And we know that GW is just not into making units for AOS these days, with the Crossboos being the first new unit in about half a year.

With that being said I would like for Morathi to stay on her own.

Admittedly I'm probably being overly cynical, but I tend to be pretty wary of small, fragile melee heroes. We'll see though hopefully she brings something interesting to the table.

Yeah, I get that though. If it had to be another melee foot hero I personally was hoping for an a stealthy assassin type character. To go along the Shadowstalkers, for example. The Scinari Loreseeker is pretty cool in that regard.

So I play both DoK and Nighthaunt so I'm pretty happy with a battlebox. The new DoK hero looks cool but I doubt will see play, the crossbows are cool just probably not how I want to play Nighthaunt but the new NH hero... love him.

Very excited for the prospect of a NH book but the total opposite for DoK; the current book is so good and I can't see how it doesn't end up worse (although I noticed a lot of people felt that about Ironjawz update as well).

As for shipping issues... I get it, it's somewhat unavoidable but their reaction to it has still been pretty lackluster. I still think there is plenty of stuff they could've done that wouldn't have required shipping stuff half way across the world. Just off the top of my head; they could have put out a whole load of short stories exploring some factions/characters reactions to the events of Broken Realms. They could even have spent more than an afternoon on that winter FAQ.

What part of her rules or stats (which we haven't seen yet) do you base your assessment of her estimated play time on? She looks cool enough, and if the box isn't ridiculusly overpriced and her rules are good she'll surely see play. She just needs to be a viable alternative to Hag/Slaughter Queens.

  10. Well, that was unexpexted. And disappointing. The new Gladiatrix looks kind of cool, the Nighthaunt stuff just as well. But what's next? Where are we going? It's just again some new minis for armies that don't really need them.

Let's hope they don't use the box to give DOK the Fyreslayers treatment and nerf Witch Aelves to the ground...

On a side note: Yelena is very ... covered, considering that Witch Aelves are supposed to enjoy blood hitting their skin. Is this the beginning of a new aesthetic direction for DOK?

I started on my first unit of Wardens and I completely underestimated how long it was going to take to paint LRL to the standard I am aiming for.

Just curious for those who have painted the units, how long do Sentinels take compared to Wardens?  I’d imagine they are slightly easier with less armor trim.

absolutely love the models and aesthetics so I am buckling up for the ride.  I want to bring my LRL to Da Boyz this year so I’m hoping I can do this army in time.

Whoa, those are seriously amazing! The colour transitions are incredibly smooth! 😳

Have you already decided on a Great Nation? They look like Syar to me, but they could be whatever you want them to be, of course.

I have not done Sentinels yet, but let me tell you: if you have some Dawnriders, settle in for a long and winding road that will make you wish for the days when you thought that Wardens were a lot of work..

  12. I always liked the look of the Collector's Editons but I just could not bring myself to buy one... Paying that much extra for borderless front cover and a little gold trim just doesn't seem worth it.

Now, if that hardback battletome came in a steelbook case like a proper Collector's Edition... Then we'd be talking. 😎

It was Underworlds related but didn't that pretty reliable mad lad who posted here suggest CoS? After Malerion elves and the Frankenstein warbands(? What's the name for Underworlds releases?)?

Well, if the boxes for Warcry are Warbands I'd suggest that those for Underworld must be Underbands 😂

Wasn't that CoS rumoured to be based on something like Witchhunters?

Oh my sweet, sweet summer child... Have you not realized that this is the winter of our discontent and we don't get anything, let alone nice things?

City of Sigmar Warbands would be really awesome though...

I thought this was the rumor thread, not the TOW one

Yeah, we're basically forced to discuss 40k here which causes a great deal of trauma to me as well.

But let me quickly bring you up to speed considering Age of Sigmar:

    1. Fyreslayers and Idoneth Deepkin got a dual box release with a new foot hero each. Hence we assume there may be new battletomes at some unspecified point of time in the future.

    2. The new year's preview showed snippets of something that looks very much like a Nighthaunt model. We don't know what it is. But we assume there may be a new battletome for Nighthaunt at some unspecified point of time in the future.

All other rumours (aka Malerion, Ossiarch Bonereapers tome + archers, Lumineth wave 3, virtually anything for Destruction etc) are based on nothing else but whispers from the dark corners of the internet, guys who know a guy and the like.

Any word on when the FS or IDK battletomes are coming out?

I assume we are getting new Vanguard boxes also, any speculation on contents?

Nothing yet. No hints from Warhammer Community and not even leaks or 4chan rumours, as far as I'm aware. At this point we just assume that one or both factions surely should get one, but nothing has been actually confirmed. Not even by ways of a @Whitefang reaction.

Yeah, I used to play Craftworld Eldar as well as Dark Eldar too during these days. Dark Eldar were more or less my 'first love' in wargaming and I switched to Eldar last minute because I liked them nearly as much while their codex provided more diversity and different play styles. I had the old Dark Reapers, Howling Banshees, hell, all the aspect warriors, many of whom also had animal designs on their helmets. Yet, here I am, over 20 years later, and I still think it would have been cool if they had tried something that tied together their old aesthetic roots with a new and more dynamic approach.

It's fine if you don't agree with me. Everyone has their own tastes. And I may come across as slightly salty right now, but I'd very much appreciate if you argued in such a way that I don't feel like my opinion as someone who was interested in potentially getting back into Eldar and is disappointed right now is invalid. Thank you for considering.

You don't need to change things for the sake of changing things. Look at necron flayed ones- the old metal ones were considered superior aesthetically to the resin ones for example. Just because you can change an aesthetic doesn't make it a good change.  It doesn't matter if stoneguard are amazing models or not- you are obviously on one side of the fence- but the point was that not everyone has the same opinion on what a good update is, and such alarith stoneguard are not good or bad as much as the new craftworld are good or bad.

I mean other than them being elves, which are always bad of course

I didn't say that Dark Reapers were 'bad' models. I said that I was disappointed with how little they had changed, and I think I made clear that this was a subjective evaluation.

And you on the other hand can't say that you consider their original design superior when they never got a reimagined version in the first place. They could have come up with something that looked different from their last incarnation and we both would have liked. But we can't say that for sure because the designers chose to not take a risk in the first place.

Which pretty much brings us back to AOS, where designers are choosing to not take a chance and just give us underwhelming foot heroes since Kruleboyz and the dragons have released.
