Unless you're a named character, then you get nothing.

Ok so I do not get a command trait or artefact according to these core rules. I am ok with that. I mean I would like to get them but ok. I have a game with a friend on weekend to try out new edition so I want to get as much as the rules right.

Uh... no.  You can never pick more than one, right in your quote.

I thought that it is same one. Ok then either you only get the command trait with the battalion or if you get one for free I have no idea what this rule does.

  3. 27.3.2 COMMAND TRAITS Each time you take a command trait enhancement, you can pick 1 command trait and give it to your general. You can never pick more than 1 command trait for your army, and command traits can only be given to a general that is a Hero.

Seems I can stack them. So my general can have like three command traits. :D

  4. Currently how it seems is one priest can chant one prayer, one blessing one judgement per turn but they can not be repeated by other priests. So one can do Bronzed Flesh, Blood Boil and Wrath Axe and then another can do Killing Frenzy, Blood Bind and Bleeding Icon for instance. This will probably be changed with a new battletome but it is published or there is and FAQ RAW this is how it seems to work.

  5. Hi guys,

I will be playing a game of AoS in a week with a friend. I will give him my Stormcast and I will play my Bloodbound Mortals. Could you please go over the lists I made for us and tell me if they match ok against one another?

It seems that GW is trying to tie more AoS and GW. This is something that started with the transition to AoS and it seems to accentuate over time.

So yes, I fully expect point increases. But if 40k is any indication, point decreases will follow shortly afterwards.

Points increase across the board creates more room to make some units cheaper when the rules settle in and their true effectiveness is determined. So in that context I am all for making all stuff more expensive on release. What I hope to see in significant armies update in the new GHB and a points adjustment in October and then January at least when they have more data on what works really good and whats not.

  7. Do people think there is a chance of Blood Warriors going to 10 man squad minimum? Cause the box is 10 models and special weapon and banner can be added for every 10 models.

Given the new reinforcement rules on one hand it seems appropriate to move them to 10 man. But then they can have max 30. By that logic Blood Reavers could go to 60 models max. On other hand they can reduce the requirement for goreglaive and banner to 5 man which also has a problem of not having enough in the box. Or they could leave number rules as is but that also looks odd to me.

  8. One question I have is with rumoured chagne of Mystic Shield to get it back to +1 save, and will All Out Defence giving +1 save and that Heroic Action (Finest Hour I think) that gives +1 save is this means GW is backtracking on their previous decisions? Usually when a person/company goes back and forth in decisions like this I get worried cause that could be an indication they do not know what they want (or how to achieve it) and are just trying at random hoping to stumble upon a solution.

Anyone else feel like unleash hell (stand and shoot) is going to get comped out by the community? That single command ability looks to be majorly problematic for a game that is mostly populated by non-shooting units. Perhaps as more of the rules come out, it will appear to be less of an issue. But as it stands I would have no issue with TOs excluding that command ability from events.

    Thoughts?

Even if all the rumours are true unless units rules (weapon profiles) change drastically I still think Unleash Hell will be pretty serious and impactful ability. And as a person who likes to play melee armies, Khorne, Ogors, Nighthaunts, and probably only person who played Anvils thought 2ed as mostly melee army this has me worried. Will of course wait and see. Hopefully I will be able to get new rulebook, Stormcast battletome and generals handbook early for some "test" games and then see what I think after I play few games.

I'm a little confused on this one, is any incremental increase a reinforcement? ie. increasing a 5 man unit to 10, or a 3 man to 6, or a 20 to 40? This would have a really weird impact on units that start at 5 models but only get access to things like banners or leaders at higher model counts (like blood warriors or chaos warriors).

I would also like to see how will this work. Ogor Gluttons for instance has minimum unit size of 3 but get special stuff one for each 6 models.

Maybe Blood Warriors and Ogor Gluttons will go to 10 and 6 model minimum size respectively.

What do you think about New Chronometer cogs? I think the defensive Option is much better than the offensive one, thinking of a lrl or tzeenrch army getting about 5 extra casts...

I personally liked reroll save option it had. Sad to see it gone.

I'd agree with that.  I think this is one that needs to be experienced in the flesh before we condemn it.  I know the 40k community had similar opinions when it changed in 9th ed, but didn't find it quite as bad in practice.

One thing that is different in 40k is models need to stay 2'' in order to be in coherency. In AoS the coherency is 1''. So this change will in my opinion be more impactful in AoS simply because you need to set models closer to one another to prevent them getting out of coherency.

Another thing that is different in 40k is how you determine which model is in melee range. 40k does not have range on melee weapons. The model is in range if he is within an inch of opponent model or is within half an inch of another model that is within half of inch of opponents models. So in 40k any unit can fight in two ranks. In AoS due to melee weapons having different range and different base sizes a lot of units are not able to fight in two ranks.

This will definitely influence how melee units that have 32mm and bigger bases with 1'' reach and 10 models minimum will be used.

How much of an actual change this will make we will see once new rulebook is out and people start playing with it.

  13. Hi guys,

I am relative new to AoS think I started a year ago with the Soulwars Box. I have the following collection.

Lord-Arcanum (This guy is named Artemis Eld and is my absolutely favourite AoS model I have)

    Lord Arcanum on Gryph-Charger

    2x Knight Incantor

    Lord-Ordinator with Grandhammer

    Lord-Exorcist

    9 Castigators 2 Primes

    5 Evocators

21 Sequitors 4 Primes one with Grandmace 7 regular I think with grandmace

    Celestar Ballista

    Lord-Celestant

    Lord-Castelant

    Lord-Relictor

    Knight-Heraldor

10 Liberators 2 prime one grand hammer

10 Judicators 8 regular bows one crossbow one big cross bow no primes they were ebay buy that friend gave me

    6 Gryph-Hounds

    5 Retributors

    In boxes I have

    Lord-Aquilor

    15 Vanguard-Hunter

    6 Vanguard Raptors

    6 Aetherwings

    6 Gryph-Hounds

    3 Vanguard Pallantor.

I play them as Anvils of the Heldenhammer cause I loved them in Soul Wars novel.  And I had them painted in those colours. I usually like to play them as pure chamber. Either all Sacrosanct or all Warrior. I usually play at my friends place and due to size of his dinner table we usually play 1000 points games. We go up to 1500 but not often.

    My regular list is
Lord-Arcanum General with Deathly Aura and Staff of Azyr or Gravesand Broch with Chainlightning spell

    10 Sequitors

    5 Sequitors

    Hailstorm Battery
( Lord-Ordinator with Soulthief, 3 Castigators and Ballista)

    1CP.

My question is what do you guys think of the collection and what would you add given that I play 1000 points game and like one in five goes to 1200 or 1500? Do you think playing pure chamber is viable in a friendly game or should I just give up and mix them?

    Any advice is highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  14. Hi guys,

My friend very kindly gave me his collection of Beasts of Chaos. I have:

    Herdstone

    Taurus Endless spell

    Direhorn Endless spell

    Raven something flock endless spell

    Beastlord

    2 Great bray shaman

    20 Bestigors

    Box of Gors

    10 Ungors with spears

    10 Ungor Raiders

6 chaos warhound (dogs) I think there is six what ever is the legal size unit

I was thinking of assembling Gors with shields is that better option then dual weapons? I recon they do not deal damage anyway and shield might give them more survability.

I was thinking for start to try pure Allherd? Is that viable for non competitive casual games or do I have to mix Warherd units as well?

What would you guys recommend me to get?

What do you guys think of Brass Despoilers or Desolating Beastherd battalions? I am looking at them as we mostly play 1000 points game due to the size of the diner table at my friends place. They look like decent battalions that may give me one drop allowing me to dictate who goes first. Also Brass Despoilers would potentially allow me to play goats together with my Khorne guys.

    Any advice is very appreciated.

    Thanks in advance/

Thanks. I re-read the allegiance rules again. For some reason when I first read that section I understood that allegiance is stuff from same battletome. So in my head everything from other battletomes counted as allies.

I get now how this works and how I can include other units with Khore keyword. I am not sure I will at least for a start. I am not in a position to go by 3000 points of models to expand my force.

  16. @Causalis

    Thanks for the advice

    @Salyx

Can you please let me know where exactly in the rules does it say that any unit with Khorne keyword can go in Blades of Khorne army? I am aware that Slaves of Darkness unit can receive a mark of specific god but only rule that allow for mixing of units from different battletomes is ally section from main rulebook. So if you could please just point me to the rules section which explains this.

For the record I do believe you just want to know where it is.

    Thanks in advance

  17. @Salyx

First of thanks a lot for the welcome. Khorne was always my favourite of the Chaos Gods so I am glad I finally have an army I can play. My mate was very generous to give me good collection on a very low price.

Second thanks a lot for the information. I want to learn how to play the army better. I am not interested in getting the best possible list cause then when I win it will be because of the list and not because I learned to play better.

Now for clarification I am interested in Mortals more. I find it easier to create a narrative for the army. My idea is, once, Magore's Fiends box arrive to use Riptooth and Magore to kitbash Myghty Lord of Khorne of my own. I named him Anron Thalgkyr. He was captured as a child by a Slaneesh Mage cult and forced to fight as a gladiator. He escaped rescuing other gladiators and is leading a warband called Chainbreakers.

I do plan to expand on both Mortals and Daemons but I would like to focus on Mortals first and learn them and expand them. Another idea I would like to do is play my collection as basically two armies. One pure Mortals (Chainbreakers) and one as pure Daemons. Probably they are better combined but I would like to give it a go separately first.

I do have one question. If I choose to add some Slaves to Darkness models or Beasts of Chaos do they count as allies? Same guy gave me as a gift his Beasts of Chaos army I am expanding. Do I have a great friend or what? In pitched battle you have limited amount of points for allies. I think warscroll battalion do not count toward ally point limit but they are still allies. Can I take mark of Khorne unit from other battletomes and they don't count as allies?

Thanks in advance I really appreciate the help and time you gave me.

  18. @Agent of Chaos

Thanks a lot for your advice.

I do have an Altar and Judgements. I forgot to include them in the list.

Couple of questions if you do not mind?

I was under the impression that if I take Daemon Prince (I am not even sure which battletome he is) or Lord on Karkadrak that they have to be allies and therefor can not be my general? My understanding was everything that is not in Blades of Khorne battletome can only be taken as allies if it matched the allies restriction in pitched battle profiles.

What are the "optimal" prayers for Slaughterpriests? I usually take Bronzed Flesh on one and other was so far taking Killing Frenzy and Brazed Fury. I was thinking of trying Sanguination next time. I am not huge fan of Blood Sacrifice cause I do not like killing my guys. But if Reavers are just a screen then maybe it is smart to use Blood Sacrifice on them to get more Blood Tithe?

What do you think of BloodStoker? He is same points as Exalted Deathbringer so maybe he can buff the army more even if he himself is not as durable or killy.

What do you think about me playing Gore Pilgrims in a 1000 points army? I usually do it to get another relic, CP and to reduce my drops so I can for the most part dictate how goes first or second. Do you those 140 points better spent on more units?

Am I better off playing "general" Blades of Khorne and taking command trait Beserker Lord and then giving other hero The Blood-forged Armour so I can keep heroes alive longer. Or maybe take other trait and relic? I noticed that one of weaknesses when I play are MW on heros. That is also why I consider Sanguination.

Last time I played my list was:

    1000 point
    Goretide

    Skull Altar

Mighty Lord of Khorne, General commant trait Hew the Foe relic Thronebreaker's Torc

3 Mighty Skullcrushers with Encorcered Axes and banner

    Gore Pilgrims

    Bloodsecrator Banner of Rage relic

Slaughterpriest with Bloodbathed Axe Brazen Fury

Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrathhammer Bronzed Flesh

    20 Bloodreavers

    5 Blood Warriors

For the next time I was thinking of trying
    1000 points
    No slaughterhost

    Skull Altar

    Bloodsecrator general Beserker Lord

Slaughterpriest with Bloodbathed Axe The Blood-forged Armour Resanguination

Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrathhammer Bronzed Flesh

    10 Bloodreavers

    10 Bloodreavers

    5 Blood Warriors

3 Mighty Skulcrushers I thought about proxying them to have Glaives instead of axes

    5 Skullreapers

    Khorgorath

Would you think that would fare better?

As I said we usually play 1000 points games due to the size of the dinner table my friend has so I can not put all the stuff I would like.

    Thanks in advance

  19. Hi guys.

I am new to this forum and new to Blades of Khorne. I started AoS about a year ago because my friends play AoS a lot more than 40k.

Recently one of my friends sold me his Blades of Khorne collection.

    I have

    Mortals
Khorgos Khul/The Mighty Lord of Khorne
Exalted Death Bringer with the impaling spear
    Bloodsecrator
    Bloodstocker
    Slaughterpriest with Bloodbathed Axe
    Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrathhammer
2x5 Blood Warriors with Gore Axe and Gore Fist
20 Bloodreavers with Reaverblades (Have the musician no banner)
    5 Skullreapers
3 Mighty Skullcrushers with Ensorcered Axes
    Khorgorath

    Daemons
    Skarbrand
    Skulltaker
    Herald on foot
    Karanak (named Flesh Hound hero)
30 bloodletter (One of each banners)
    5 flesh hound
    3 Skullcrushers

I played four games with my Bloodbound mortal against my friends various list. One was against COS two against SCE and one against Beasts of Chaos We usually play 1000 point games occasionally go to 1200-1300.

In the last four games I played Gore Pilgrims warscroll battalion and was as an extra relic giving my Bloodsecrator the banner for rerolling ones
General was usually Mighty Lord of Khorne and he was taking Goretide command trait and artefact.

In the four games we played my score is 1-3. Won one game against SCE lost others.

Now my take so far is I either use Bloodreavers badly or they are not very good. Even if I buff them with Killing frenzy and get them to +2 attacks from Bloodsecrator and whip them to fury they do very little damage and if I use them as a screen to slow enemy down they die in a turn even with bronzed flesh. Blood warrior are better they have better staying power but their damage output is also very bad.

I tried two games without daemons I used the bonus table for blood tithe. In third game I summoned two units of bloodletters and in last I started with 20 bloodletter. And those bloodletters hit a lot better than blood warriors or reavers.

I would like to make Mortals work on their own but I am not sure how to combine and play units I have.

Any ideas, suggestions you guys can give me? I am not interested in anythign super competitive but I am strugling to get them to work even in the casual settings we play. I would really like if I could make Khorne Bloodbound Mortals to work somehow cause I really like the army and it esthetics and lore.

    Thanks in advance
