@Agent of Chaos Get to have the game against the Ogres?

@Graywater this is great and the type of information I was looking for. My goal is to make an offensive/consistent list and the Plaguetouched is definitely more swingy from what you’ve said. I wanted a Ruinbringer Warband but this typically shoots my list (pg113) into about 7-8 drops which is pretty high. Perhaps for an offensive punch I’ll look at a blood marked Warband with 4 heroes in it to hopefully capitalize on the additional attacks. Have you had any experience with using that one? Thanks.

Hey guys, over the course of an average game, how many mortal wounds would you get from the Ruinbringer Warband and Plaguetouched Warband? Assume it’s a list that would effectively take advantage of both i.e. with knights, etc.

Silly question but I’m still new to this system and my googling didn’t bring up what I wanted. When you take smite the unbelievers for the idolator lord you get +2 attacks to each of his weapons. I’m assuming the whip and mounts are considered part of this too and not just the great blade? Effectively giving him +6 total across the three profiles (2 to geeatblade, whips and hooves)?Do I have this correct as it doesn’t say exclude anything such as Mount, etc. And in general, something that says give +1 attack to a unit includes all weapon profiles including Mount unless specifically mentioned? For example, an aspiring deathbringer gives +1 attack to the lord on Karkadrak, which really gives him +4 across the profile (1 to axe, sword, claws and tail)?

Does seem odd that the book doesn't internally support beatstick heroes from the look of it. In fact, half of the heroes don't seem to benefit from basic internal synergies due to the lack of marks, even that of undivided.

Thanks! I feel the CL on DM maybe redundant so he may be first up for replacement. I could drop him and the CP to fund a Khorne Daemon Prince if I pick one up. Alternatively, I could slow in a second sorcerer and have 110 pts to fit something else.

Here it is: Idolators, Ulgu Realm Leaders Khorne Idolator Lord on Chaos Chariot General: Smite the Unbeliever Artefact: Tricksters’ Foil Khorne Chaos Lord on Karkadrak Khorne Chaos Lord on Demonic Mount Khorne Chaos Lord Aspiring Deathbringer Tzeentch Chaos Sorcerer Lord Spell: Mask of Darkness Battleline 5 Khorne Chaos Knights with ensorcelled weapons 5 Khorne Chaos Knights with ensorcelled weapons 1 Khorne Chaos Chariot with Greatblade 1 Khorne Chaos Chariot with Greatblade 15 Khorne Chaos Warriors with shields 20 Khorne Marauders with axes and shields Battalion: Ruinbringer Warband Other: Extra Command Point 135 Wounds 2000/2000 points I wasn't sure on giving up the bloodsecrator for one sorcerer but moving to Idolators does free up a lot of the CP needed to make it all work. My knights already are built so I don't have any with the glaives/lances to slot in just yet. I do wish there was another realm artefact or anything to select to fill it.

So I did the thing I told myself I wouldn’t do like I did with 40k. I intended only to make a 1000 point list to start with but ended up with a Rokar Gresh Box and a Box of Varanguard as gifts plus some other things I ended up getting. Anyway, I’m thinking of putting all what I have in a useable 2000 point list but wanted to get opinions on best way to make use of what I have such as battalion and legion, etc. Here’s what I came up with (sorry did this format as I’m on phone doing this) Ruinbringer Battalion (all Khorne) Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount (Varanguard model with hammer) 5 Chaos Knights with ensorcelled 5 Chaos Knights with ensorcelled Chaos Chariot with Greatblade Chaos Chariot with Greatblade Chaos Chariot with Greatblade Outside Battalion (all Khorne except sorcerer) Chaos Lord on Karkadrak Chaos Lord Chaos Sorcerer Lord (Tzeentch) Bloodsecrator (Allies)* 15 Warriors with shields 20 Marauders with axes and shields 1990 points total and 135 wounds *I could replace the bloodsecrator with another chaos sorcerer lord. I opted to put the daemonic Mount in battalion as Karkadrak has built in MW already. I guess the best would be ravagers since there’s 4 heroes to give the decent traits. Mark of the high favored on Karkadrak and maybe blasphemous cuirass on the foot lord. Any thoughts on making the best out of this list? I don’t plan on purchasing anything else to control the pile so I know it could use a Warshrine but that’ll be later. Thanks for any input.

How's playing the Bloodsecrator with the Sorcerer Lord? Any issues there with the 16" re-roll or do you mainly use it for Oracular Visions and potential unbind?

What’s the consensus on chaos lord on manticore? Say if he would be used in a Ravagers Khorne blood marked battalion and given blasphemous cuirass so he can take sword and lance. I would also give him eternal vendetta.

Very cool list and summary. Seems you have an extra Nurgle unit for the Battalion, increasing your drop by one? Do you think it would be a good idea to combine those marauders into one blob? Extra bodies and lowers the drop from 3 to 2? Doesn't seem like it was an issue so far but wanted to bring it up. Thanks for sharing!

I feel like its the same coming from 40k, smaller lists allow for hard counters and just not having a good answer sometimes. Despite that, did you feel the list lacked in anyone particular way in any games that you won/loss in? Like if you were to expand to 2k, what do you think you would add to close any perceived gaps, etc.? Love the updates too by the way! Hopefully you'll get that 3-3.

I think they can be good based on some previous posts in this thread. Saw a 2k Khorne based KoET list on page 94 and a Nurgle on page 96 you may be interested in looking at.

I believe that's only if you take their battalion for Rokar Gresh now. In the new FAQ for Morathi book they state they can take any of the marks and all cultists in Idolators damned legion must match. So what I'm going for is Idolators damned legion with ruin bringer battalion. I should be able to take whichever mark (in this case Khorne) to match up with the rest. It gives me another hero aura to spread around in the 1k list.

Can an Idolators chaos lord fit into a ruinbringer warband cleanly? Assuming you fill the battalion and one of the chariots then become the idolator lord, allowing two heroes in the battalion?

While those are expensive heroes to have together (490 points total), they are quite strong. Using all those units, minus the raptoryx, will net you 950 points to start with. You can purchase a command point for 50 points to come to an even 1,000 pts which is a good starting point! The standard Ravagers allegiance may be good to summon some more bodies during the game; however, if you don't want to buy anything else right now, you can try out the new Idolators allegiance and turn the chariot into a chaos lord/priest hero for some additional buffs without any point cost difference and still meeting battleline/leader requirements. For example, this is an idolators list. They don't come with any artefacts so you'll need to pick a realm to get one. Ulgu lets them re-roll 1s to wound. I just picked Khorne as I like it most; however, you can change marks as you see fit (being a more mobile army, Slaanesh all around may be better.) Did you use daemonblades on the Varanguard? Any experience with the felspears for the extra rend?

So the Karkadrak isn't any more "killy" than the CLoM, and I may be better served with an extra unit on the field. I just feel like the CLoM seems less "tanky" though.

How much better is the Chaos Lord on Karkadrak over the Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount? I'm looking at two versions of a 1k list for Ruinbringer Battalion. If I bring the Karkadrak Lord I can only fit 2 knights and 2 chariots. If I go with Daemonic Mount Lord, I can fit a third chariot.

@Agent of Chaos Still totally new, but looking at what you're going for, and knowing what you used in your other list...how about something like this? Pump the knights to 10 with the ability to double fight with the chaos lord (which should be safe since no shooting) to hold the middle? Diabolic Mantle to add more command points to throw around more fight twice. Alternatively, drop 5 knights if you really want that warshrine? I think they would look good as you described and really and you answered your own question. Paint them as you like and just tie in that color through out the whole army. Including all the correct models and disclosing they're all Hedonites/Slaanesh is more than enough to not confuse anyone! Have fun with it, those models look amazing.

Thanks for that information/experience perspective. I’m now more excited for the Rokar Gresh box. Three horse chariots and ruinbringer war and add a clean 500 pts to my 1k list since there’s two groups of Knights already in it. Pretty cool tactics!
