Hello,
This month I want to finally do the bases of some minis to finish them off, so I'll prioritize that. But there will be some time to paint, and build. So, I pledge to:
- Paint: Spirit Torment, Guardian of Souls, Lord Executioner, 10 chainrasps (let's complete the 40 guy blob)
- Base:
- First bunch: a Mortis Engine, a Treelord Ancient, 10 chainrasps, a Branchwych
- Second bunch: Spirit Torment, Guardian of Souls, Lord Executioner, Knight of Shrouds on Steed, 10 chainrasps
- Build: The Mortal Realms magazine shipment for this month, that should be:
- 5 Dreadscythe Harridans, Lord Executioner, 4 Grimghast Reapers, 5 Glaivewraith Stalkers (one will be converted to a Grimghast Reaper)
- 4 Liberators, 1 Prosecutor
- Hopefully, the FEC special: Archregent, 3 Flayers, 20 Ghouls
After that, I might switch to the Stormcast part of the collection for 2 months, as the "black primed army" is growing out of control...
Maybe it's a bit much? We will know in 29 days 😇😇

So, for now, I'll pledge to fully paint:
- 5 chainrasps
- The third and last building of the mausoleum (Garden of Morr) and the statue. Also, complete all four bases.
- Some walls of that, also
Also, I'll work on some bases for the last minis painted:
- Mortis Engine
- Treelord Ancient
- Some chainrasps
And lastly, I'll build lots of models that I hope are coming in Mortal Realms, and paint some.
Ok, not bad month, but diverged a bit from what I planned, because I felt some other way when time came 😅
I've completed the 5 chainrasps that I left WIP last month. I finished the buildings and bases from the mausoleum. But I haven't touched the walls, and haven't worked on the bases of those minis. I felt like painting 4 other Myrmourn Banshees instead, and that's what I did 😇
Also, I built all minis from issues 17 to 20 of Mortal Realms magazine, and couldn't resist to paint the Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed. It's a very beautiful mini, I must say. I finished this month's pledge (sort of) very happy with the overall results. Photos now!
The full blob of chainrasps, as of now. 30 guys. Will be 40.
Buildings from the mausoleum:
All my 8 Myrmourn Banshees, led by the Tomb Banshee
And the beautiful Knight
After taking the photos, I sent all banshees to patrol around the mausoleum in the cabinet. You can see how I have arranged the mausoleum (walls only primed atm). On the right, there is the WIP area, but it will be the Flesh Eaters Courts area once they arrive. (sorry for the light on this one, just took it because I found it funny)
On to next month!

My last batch of liberators. With the lockdown, I couldn’t get hold of corax white so I had to substitute with another.
still not @Chikrit’s level or finish but my castigaors will suffer the same fate. My evocators though, will have the corax.
Also a flame canon to add to the Duardin guns.Come on, man, you're gonna make me blush!! I'm still a super n00b at painting. 😊

Hi all
This month I'll be eagerly waiting the next shipment of Mortal Realms collection, because some very cool models are coming, and supposedly also the FEC extra comes this month in Spain.
I cannot be more precise, because I don't know if 2 or 4 issues will be sent. If 4 are sent, I'll get 5 Harridans, 1 Spirit Torment, 1 KoSoS, 1 Guardian of souls, 1 lord arcanum on gryph and 1 Evocator Prime. And the FEC!
If I need to complete, I'll build, prime and paint up to 10 more chainrasps to finish the 40 model blob.
I'm eager for this month's work!

This month I'll paint 2 Dreadblade Harrows, 10 chainrasps, at least 2 pieces of scenery from the Sigmarite Mausoleum and I will finish my son's Treelord Ancient.
As a stretch, i have lots more chainrasps in reserve, as well as the rest of the mausoleum.
Hi all
Some other hobby came in (some Arduinos) and had some unexpected BBQs so I almost finished my original pledge. I completed the Harrows, 2 buildings from the mausoleum (that was the idea), finished my son's Treelord Ancient (what a nightmare of branches) and completed 5 chainrasps, with another 5 in progress but not completed. Apart from these bits of the original pledge, I've completed the buildings with their bases, and helped my son with the cleanup of the base coats and shading of his 2 Sequitors. I'll teach him how to hightlight them next month, so they are wip. So I've worked the amount I wanted, but diverged a bit from the plan. Fair enough 😅
Now the photos, starting with the Harrows:
Then, the buildings
A detail of the finished treelord
and finally the WIP sequitors
I won't post any chairasps until I hopefully finish the 40 model blob next month (25 done and 5 WIP)
Game on!

@Jymmy Thanks a lot for your suggestion. It's something I've been thinking of lately, but I kind of like the natural colors of the sand and the stones. They give "realism", I might say. But it's also something I have to try some day.

@Artobans Ghost Thanks mate 😃 Still lots to learn, but I it is a good start.
For the eyes (if it is of any interest for the community), I followed this tutorial from Squidmar. It turned out really easy!

This month I'll be cautious, because I have bought Total War: Warhammer 2 and have to split the hobby time with that serious competitor.
I pledge to do the following bits of the Mortal Realms Collection:
- Thorns of the Briar Queen
- Tomb Banshee
- Knight-Questor
- The banshees of the Mortis Engine (so it will be finished)
Optionally, I'll work a bit on my son's Treelord Ancient, or most probably I'll work on this diorama/terrain I've come up with, using the spare vampire ladies from the Mortis Engine and some OpenForge printed floors and walls (from the Dungeon Stairs set).
Hi all. I've been able to complete my pledge successfully, to my relief 😅
Further more, It's the first time I have added some rust effects on some metals (subtle, still) and I've been improving my gradient skills, with (i think) good results on reds, nice results on greens, and mixed results on blue. I don't do heavy gradients yet, tho. Still improving. Now the photos.
I've liked a lot painting the thorns, as i have already painted 20 chainrasps, I got the trick of it. Added rust effects to the blades, and nice gradients on the reddish parts:
With that practice, I went on to further work on the reddish gradients on the tomb banshee. Also, first time using Green Fluorescent paint (Vallejo) for some effects on the eyes. I'm quite happy with the outcome:
Enough red. Next, for a total change of theme, I painted the Knight Questor, giving him extra care. First time adding some freehand details. I'm very happy with all of it. But, yeah, I've given this guy around 8 hours of my life....
And last but not least, I painted all three vampires of the diorama, which I call "my RGB vampires". Very happy with all, as well. The blue one gave me some problems on the highlights in blue, because I went with turquoise, but got it more or less sorted with a glaze, and learnt a lot in the process, about gradients, 3d prints, magnets (I magnetized all the vampires and the cauldron), creepy eyes...
The Treelord is still wip and the banshees for the mortis engine are finished too, but I won't post the photos again because it looks more or less the same as last month's without them
Also, my 10 year old kid wants you all to know that he has painted a kurnoth hunter (only small fine detail corrections from me)
Very satisfied!! On to next month!

Thanks guys. I don't have "The fang" and my store didn't have stock of Vallejos "Sombre grey" that could have been close when I last went shopping, but I'll try to get as close as possible by mixing "Heavy blue grey", which I have, with some blue, and black, so it doesn't get very light. I like the idea of "blueish reflections from the dress" 😍
I'll try this evening 😃
You all have provided great hints to this n00b. Thank you!

Hi all. I'd like some advice if you might
I'm painting the vampires of the Coven Thrones, and one will be wearing blue. Then we decided (and by we I mean my wife) that the vest will be black leather, but i'm not sure how I can hightlight on black, so the belts she's wearing will be properly seen. This is a photo of a her, very WIP. I am not even sure if I like the turquoise highlights on the blue, or how I can improve them.
Thanks in advance!

Maybe a reanimated dead giant? Leaning towards deadwalkers theme could be easier (to paint and to fit thematically)

And, as strech or additional things
- I will batch-paint all the ghosty parts (bottom) of the ghosts above, so I'll do as well another pack of 10 Chainrasps
- I will continue to improve my kid's Treelord Ancient
Also, just because, i'll build and prime the two heroes and the terrain of the next delivery of Mortal Realms (Tomb Banshee, Knight Questor, and some Sigmarite Mausoleums). Quite a bit, actually!
Hi all
This month I diverged a bit from what I pledged, but I've done a lot of work nonetheless.
- I batch-painted all the ghosty parts of the stalkers, the thorns and the chainrasps
- I painted the Glaivewraith Stalkers, fully detailing their nightmarish bases
- I painted the second third (the stairs) of the mortis engine
- Then, instead of going on with the thorns, I continued with the mortis engine, until almost the end. Only the banshees left. And I'm pretty happy with the results, I must say 😅
- Also I built the new Mortal Realms stuff, to see it built, but didn't touch the Treelord
Now, the photos, starting with the stalkers:
And now the Engine
The guy is magnetized (just to test on magnetizing) but the cage is only fixed on it's own molds, wich stays pretty strong. I thought it was a shame not being able to see the altar.
Yes, I'm happy

Yes, it was my imagination tricking me
I saw in fauxhammer "Sigmarite mausoleum" and decided it was the full retail box, wich has the contents doubled 🤣
Later, I checked the initial image of "whats included in the collection" and it only appeared this "half of the big box", so all my fault
I'm so anxious for plastic, it seems

In Mortal Realms magazine, wich features all Nighthaunt units but also Olynder and the Mortis Engine, wich I think should be a hint, in one of the issues I received today they introduced the Legions of Nagash, without Legion of Grief. In other issue Olynder is called Mortarch of Grief, but said that Nagash gave her the command of the Nighthaunt.
Interpretations.... 🤷♂️

It just arrived at my home. From the sigmarite mausoleum there are only 2 sprues with the crypts, no floor or walls. If fauxhammer is correct and this is a third of it (and probably it is) it seems that only half of the Sigmarite Mausoleum will come. Shame!
And the inside guide suggests so, also 😭

Yesterday, a bit worried because my monthly delivery had not arrived yet, I called Salvat to ask for it. They said it had been delayed because all this coronavirus issue, and that they will be sent at the end of this week.
Much better now 😛

Couldn’t wait for corax white base so I tried a layer of white scars and Chikrit’s wash formula. Still not up to chikrits standard but I’m much happier.
Plus a new Lord ExorcistHeheh, I'm still a super n00b, so let's hope that some of the real good painters around share their knowledge about this. I've found that shading white is tricky, plus painting white needs to be done in many thin coats, or it will get blobby or not cover correctly. The thing with corax white is that it is not really white, but something like very bright bluish grey, and the shade looks better on it, if properly mixed with a bit of water, and properly and carefully spread so every dot gets the same amount, without pooling. I only do pure white (I got the one from Vallejo, skull white) on skeletons, and with much, much care, mostly just shading over the white primer.
They look good tho 😃

That’s beautiful! That white is exactly what I’m after. Please imagine all my Stormcast with this effort and I’ll call it a good day 😺
Thanks a lot!. It's just Corax White with Agrax Earthshade (a bit dilluted) with the same Corax White as highlights, but works well. It's the first stormcast I paint, but being a unique hero I wanted to try to get the max out of my poor (yet) skills 😀

Hi all
For this month I pledged to finish my 4 fig Myrmourn Banshees, paint Xandria Azurebolt with special care, start painting the Mortis Engine and help my kid with a Treelord Ancient (too much for him, abandoned, painted a bit dirty).
I managed to do all that, so I'm happy. From the Mortis Engine I painted the "lower third" so to speak, and I worked on some magic symbols on the treelord, and some general cleaning of it (still very WIP). Probably the quarantine helped a bit, tho I'm tele-working.

Easy if you live in UK or Spain and you were ready for number one of Mortal Realms. You could get that here in Spain for 48€, and give (or sell) 72 Sequitors to someone. You'd probably keep most of the 144 dice.
I stopped at 7 (plus the one in the suscription) because I felt i'd had enough with 2x40 rasps. 8€ total.
Now, it seems Aussies have that opportunity too.
