  1. I always take my raiders in a large block of 40 that I will put into ambush. (you don't need to be Darkwalkers, they are Brayherd)

I will also take a unit of 10 Ungors to throw onto the Herdstone but only in 1500pts or higher. Lower point games I prefer to use a Doombull or the Underworld team on the Herdstone.

again,... why are people comparing them?

Bullgors(with smaller Axe) and Slaangors : Both Beast of Chaos / Same point cost / Same number of models / Same base armor save / Same base bravery / Roughly the same number of attacks

Tzaangor Enlightened(on foot) and Slaangors: Both Beast of Chaos / Same number of models / Same number of wounds / Same armor save / Same bravery / Roughly the same number of attacks

Bullgors are tougher and deal more damage

Enlightened are cheaper and deal more damage

The only advantage Slaangors seem to have is a higher base movement. However, I looked at Bullgors' profile again and the Slaangors only have +1 inch on them in movement which the Bullgors kind of negate with having +1 on the charge, and while the Enlightened have 2 less movement they can gain +3 movement from a Brayherd Shaman. So ya Slaangors only have a speed advantage in a very limited sense.

Listen, I don't want Slaangors to suck but its the facts. I will admit that I am limited in approaching this strictly from a Beast of Chaos perspective. It might be that they are a little better in a Slaanesh list though my friend who plays Slaanesh is of the opinion that they are bad there too, take that with a grain of salt.

I like the Slaangor special rules. They are pretty bad on the offensive and defensive side, however, they are a good Horde killer. Have them around 3" of a big blob of Berserkers or Marauders or Goblins or Mortek Guard or Clanrats and they will do Tons of damage Enlightened could dream of. If we had this Ability as a spell ( for every Model in the unit on a 4+ take a Mortal wound), it would be an Auto-include.

I think as well that they are too expensive at 140. Nevertheless, they have their uses in specific scenarios and matchups.

You might what to re-read their ability. They don't deal mortal wounds based on the number of models in the enemy unit, they deal mortal wounds based on the number of models in the Slaangor unit.

I wouldn't even bother comparing them.  They are 140 points of sexy models and bad rules.  The advantage of them over Bullgors is they have higher number of attacks.  So Swingy dice makes the bullgors suffer bad.  Also I wouldn't compare a "Gor" to a Bullgor. as rend and high dmg is what makes the Bullgors.  Slaangors are just gors with slaaneshes "touch".  They are meant to fall in line with Daemonettes (stats profile wise) which are still better and a better comparison.

The problem is that they don't have more attacks. Bullgors with the smaller axes have the same base number of attacks that hit and wound the same Only with 1 better damage. The Slaangors do get +1 attack on the charge but Bulls also have 2 additional horn attacks a piece. On top of that if you have the smaller ax you are also going to have a better save or re-rolling 1s to hit. The only advantage they have over Bullgors is +2 movement. But if you still dont want to compare them to Bullgors, then lets compare them to an appropriate gor unit, I'm talking Enlightened on foot. Their profiles are near identical as well, only the Enlightened have +1 damage, added beak attacks, and cost 40pts less. Again the Slaangor's only advantage is +2 movement.

  4. I am genuinely impressed with how bad the Slaangors are.  I can normally make an excuse to field some of an army's bad units but I can not make any kind of justification for these. Those thinking that they might be good in a Hedonites list would be sorely mistaken, at least according to my friend who plays Slaanesh. Who know, maybe they will get a rework when the Beast of Chaos book gets updated.

Anyone want to take a guess on a release date for Cursed City? I'm very tempted and want to get hyped for it - you can play 1 player right? (never picke up something like this before)

It depends. Silver Tower and Blackstone Fortress could be played single player, but Hammerhall required a dedicated GM.

  6. I think its good to have a Chimera in your back pocket for summoning. It has a nice charge bonus and come on the field within range of its mortal wound attacks. Though don't go into a game expecting to summon it.  I generally wait to turn 2 to see if it is viable. If I have rolled at least one 2 and one 3 on sacrifices I will consider the Chimera as a possible summon this game.  Even then based on the situation I may forgo it in favor of spamming some Bestagors.

  7. I'm sorry but I must object to braking the 9" deepstrike limit. Being able to place a unit and reliably charge any  where on the board edge would be incredibly unfun to play against. Not to mention you would essentially be letting the genie out of the bottle, this would not stop at beast of chaos.

That's not to say Ambush couldn't use some improvements. You shouldn't have to take a command trait or darkwalkers in order to hold units in reserves past the first turn. You also shouldn't have to take the horn artifact to get the small attack bonus on arriving from Ambush. Also so Darkwalkers aren't left in the wayside, perhaps they get an automatic re-roll to charge when coming out of ambush and an artifact that can grant +1 to charge to a unit that came out of Ambush that turn.

  8. I'm in the camp that would like to see Gors(Bestigors Too) move to 2 wounds. I'm also in favor of the previously mentioned boost to their offensive power. To better balance this move it would probably be a good idea to reduces there save by 1 in the process. Even with this they would still probably go up in point but, if you want a 1 wound horde unit that's what Ungors are for.

  9. Generating Primordial Call points in low point games isn't as broken as it first sounds. In a 2000 point game you can have 10 ungors and a Shaman sit on the herd stone and play the game with little issue. !n a 500 pt game those Shaman and Ungors are over a quarter of your army. (Your might be better off with having a Doombull stabbing itself but that's still one fifth of your army.)  Ultimately, while you will be able to generate the same numbers through summoning you will have a significantly weaker early game.

  10. I too think Gors/Bestigors should go to 2 wound but I think they should then get minus 1 to their save as a trade off. You would probably still have to increase their point cost but not by as much. I still kind of want them to be a hoard unit.

  11. I do not agree with the bravery is worse for elite army's. The base mechanics of the bravery system favor elite units over horde units. Lets say we have two units, one that has 1 wound models and a unit that has 4 wound models, and lets say they both have the same bravery of 6. Now lets say the elite unit lose one guy and then rolled a 6 and lost another. I always hear how much that unfairly hurts the elite unit but that unit had to suffer 4 wounds and roll a 6 for that to happen. The 1 wound unit after taking 4 wounds would effectively have there bravery reduced by 4 meaning that on a roll of a 6 they would effectively lose 4 models or 4 wounds as well, but on top of that they would also lose 3 on a roll of a 5, 2 on a roll of a 4, and 1 on a roll of a 3 where the elite unit will lose nothing. I am not done, what happens when the unit loses 5, 6, or 7 wounds. Well the elite unit stays the same, in-fact rolling a 6 is even less impact full as you will already be losing an injured model, take 7 wounds roll a 6 lose 1 wound. Its only after 8 wounds can the elite unit possibly lose more wounds, but it would still only tie with the loses that the max amount of loses the 1 wound unit has taken. Now this is a very striped down example. For example most elite units will have better bravery but it also doesn't include any kind of horde bonus either which is at best a 3+(not counting Scaven).

I would also like to dispel any myth that hordes generally have better bravery than elite units. If you mostly play against death and demons I can see how you may come to that conclusion. Believe me, I play Beast of Chaos and have to work around Bravery 4. I have had so many 10 man units just evaporate after losing 4 models. Don't get me wrong, I do generally agree that there should be some form of over hall to battleshock, but it always pains me when someone's only suggestion is to remove Inspiring Presence.  I do think general immunity should be more limited and harder to come by, but I also feel it should be less stacked against horde infantry. Mirroring other people's statement, I would like to see battleshock resemble the current system in 40k. Then Inspiring Presence could be moved to a once per game ability while other abilities like Beast of Chaos Herdstone could instead give all Beast of Chaso Bravery 10 while within range.

  12. Personally I think Morghur would be a good candidate for the Katakros treatment. Morghur in the center surrounded by this mob of spawn and other abominations(dog with a human head, walking tree with eyes and tentacles, cycloptic raven, ect) . I don't think you need to go the full Katakros and give each model a name and combat stat. You could clump their attacks together and call it "Mutant Rabble" and it would be fine. We are always told about Morghur's corrupting influence on the area around him, I just think such a model would actually demonstrate this.

  13. Another thing to keep in mind is the Bray Shaman's base spell "Devolve". Most people think you use it to pull support units closer to your line but I find it works better to pull their core units away from their support units. "Oh I see that unit is well supported by three heros, it would be a shame if they got a little blood thirsty and broke formation." I will often take a Balewind just increase my range for this spell.

  14. I think you may have made some mistakes. Based on key words and weapon profile I'm assuming you started with a Gor and gave them the mounted beast trait. With this you should only be able to get to a maximum of 10 wound, but you seem to have 13. You can get to 13 if you take the Gargantuan Beast trait, or if you started with the Dragon Ogor as your base. You also might want to note that the Front Claw and Tail Spike attacks technically count as coming from a mount.

As for the model, it looks top notch. If I had to nit pick it would be the position of the right hand. Given his stance, I feel it would look better the other way around.

I don't want to derail, but a common misconception about this area of law is that as long as you don't profit from infringement, you're ok. You're not. Profit can increase your damages, but distributing copyrighted material (or creating confusion in a reasonable evaluator over authorship) is the core issue.

Not saying this does that, or that the materials in question are even copyrighted. I don't know, which is why I'm asking. Knowing is half the battle. The other half is killing your enemy (with a custom Bonereapers hero).

Anyway. I'll leave it there. @TwiceIfILikeIt and I are excited to make some new heroes, convert models to match, and play some games!!!😁

And that's why profit wasn't my only point. The warscroll designer doesn't appear to use protected information in it. I'm talking point cost and names, sure I could type in Stormcast Eternal, but I can also type in Ninja Turtle. At that point any word program is copyright infringement, heck this site would not be able to function.

The only thing that might be questionable is the use of the AoS logo. Now it does have a nice and large Unofficial on top of it. This is probably transformation enough to be fine, and the whole site makes it very clear that they are not official, so they are clearly not trying to commit fraud. But again not a Lawyer.

Anyway back on topic. I saw this image in the inspirational art thread.

Anyway it inspired me to make this.

Does anyone know if this tool is approved by GW? I can see the disclaimer, but that's not quite what I'm asking.

I'm a big supporter of the rights of creators, even when those creators are big businesses. I really want to use this tool to make my own warscrolls. If GW is giving the thumbs up, then yeehaw heck yeah I'm using it. If not, I'm not.

The fact the GW provided their own template rather than pointing to one created by a community champion gives me pause.

Note: I'm not accusing @RuneBrush of any bad behavior, and in fact think what he's created is cool as heck. I just want to be sure I'm supporting creators appropriately.

I wouldn't say it has GW's blessing as it wouldn't be Unofficial then, but I don't think its braking any laws so you probably don't need to worry. The app isn't profiting off of GW's IP and it doesn't actually provide the user with any protected information like points. The only thing it has is the old warscroll arrangement and you cant really have a copyright on how information is arranged.

As a disclaimer, I am not a lawyer.

  17. My interpretation is that Shields are a piece of equipment that alter the armor stat after the fact, thus allowing you to get to a 2+ save. If you look a Shield as it tend to appear on a warscroll, you will see it is regularly listed under abilities. This also means that if you took Ethereal the shield wouldn't work because it ignores all modifiers. Here is an example of a character that would have a 2+ save.

And here is a pic because I feel like it.

    20451398_BoTheUnwavering.jpg.b8ea832789f71fffb550d556e5e50a8f.jpg

This is at least my interpretation, and I think it makes the most sense given its useless inclusion otherwise.

So we get new models for Orruks and Daughters of Khaine in August!

Also that 4th season cover art - that looks so freaking amazing, though I can't tell if its new, undead, skeleton or ossiarch.

I know I am probably reading to much into this image, but that skull looks like it has vampire fangs.
