  1. They can only destroy so many Order strongholds if Chaos is everywhere else... at least it sounds like this fell during the Age of Chaos? This will also be our first in-depth look at Ironbark duardin 😍 I'm definitely worried about how many Cities are going to be destroyed during this 4e precursor event if AOS is supposed to be a post-apoc Chaos win, there's only so many Order/Death/Destruction failures that can happen before Chaos would narratively win a 3rd time...
  2. Yeah I'm not really sure who decided on the DLC pricing, especially after the Total War Debacle, but luckily these are easily passable. The new patch itself feels great--Engage Stance is on by default so units are feeling a lot more reactive now + the AI isn't overwhelming me from sheer micro anymore
  3. came here to talk about this, it def sounds like we're about to start seeing more models and the design work behind them
  4. Sequitors could be fitted into the liberator skin of RoR too; Yndrasta replaces the Lord Celestant role for example. but yes, this is more of guesswork based on how companies do video game tie-ins than anything. we have to admit it's VERY coincidental the most recent AOS game included the announcement of the first unit for SCE's refresh, with a 2nd unit confirmed by the 4e trailer. if the Ballista isn't staying and its our only artillery piece, it feels like GW wouldn't let their poster faction simply lose artillery until 5e or 6e. somethin's brewin.
  5. i don't think what you're describing and the Ruination Chamber are mutually exclusive is the thing. there's no reason to retcon the Star Bridges nor otherwise get rid of them. these could be the same Relictor-led crusades that we simply didn't see before they all got Thunderstruck to save on range bloat. those crusades could've found out new forms of the flaw since it's been a couple centuries since 1e. we may even see Transfigured as the weird, unsettling parts of Ruination.
  6. interesting... so maybe Prosecutors take on a more literal Valkyrie-role for the Ruination Chamber? by helping ferry the broken souls back to the Anvil, or to their final rest
  7. where did people decide on this? they're Angelos Conclave/Warrior Chamber per the warscroll and battletome. They got Thunderstrike armor, not put into a new chamber https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/wiki/Angelos_Conclave
  8. been thinking a lot about the SCE squatting and the Realms of Ruin roster... the new Liberator was introduced via the game, which allows you to easily swap the classic skin for the thunderstrike version. We now know Prosecutors are 100% showing up in new armor. there are also 3 versions of the Lord Celestant in-game, which got cut and likely gets a refreshed model. Celestar Ballista and Evocators are the two Sacrosanct units in the game. They have no replacement skins. I'm now wondering if inclusion in RoR is signaling a *definitive* Thunderstrike version of all these models? The Vanguard Hunters and Raptors weren't squatted, but their design aesthetic is nowhere near as strong as Sacrosanct and Thunderstrike. Out of that Chamber, these are the 3 units I could definitely see get refreshed.
  9. i am just excited that they seem to have leaned Prosecutors into the Valkyrie vibe and I can FINALLY not feel bad about building them with javelins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if not a Blight City area... well... "one city will fall" right? that seems primed for a Mordheim reboot too. do you think Warcry could be split into a more RPG-styled game (modular rules on top of the existing ones) or would it be better to have another gameset for it?
  10. keywords don't need to be trademarkable though and I think the full titles are "Retributor Paladin", "Annihilator Paladin", etc. Annihilators could replace Retributors because hammers, but there's still axes and glaives left. +2 if i could react, it also makes it much easier to share this hobby/setting with as many people as possible!! AOS is such a refreshing fantasy setting that I'm actually able to warm my bored-by-fantasy partner up to it.
  11. it just means the new big unit isn't a Paladin, which I think we kind of knew already? the Ruination elites would be above paladins in skill/rank/number of reforgings.
  12. good catch, I did think it was super weird they named it "Empire of Man" like it was pulled right from 40k. if TOW does end up getting more new kits then I wouldn't be surprised to see the same IP naming (or lots of named characters)
  13. not that you're wrong here but let's also be clear that WHFB had "Asrai", "Druchii", and "Asur" as copyrightable names. all Warhammer IPs do/are doing this
  14. give it a couple weeks/months for us to get new info and it'll probably calm down i've been meaning to sell my Sacrosanct actually for like a year so kudos to my procrastination i guess
  15. it would absolutely fit in with the idea that Vandus's final reforgings have his actual body being unstable... Ruination units being a progression of stable to lightning gheist. Sacrosanct wardens with mortal assistants seems very fitting we should be able to fairly easily make pan-Order forces for existing or custom COS i think. like one of the 2 stormcast subfactions is literally a COS garrison force--no way taking some mortals is off the table.
  16. that was my point yeah, didn't realize the old sculpts had this as well. so the fact they've kept the design nods bodes really well for you i know i'm very happy with the Seraphon refresh! (my first WHF love)
  17. i wouldn't really consider "pustules over most of the exposed skin" to be a minor detail though? and if these were present in the previous kit, then it's even more of a reason to believe these details are signaling a mishmash of clans at the bottom rung of skaven soldiers? i'm confused as to how others don't see this tbh, I know it's only 2 models so far but... if the pustule guy had a bell flail instead of a shield and the black mask guy had a sling instead of a shield everyone would be saying they look perfect for Pestilens acolytes/Eshin runners
  18. there are huge notes of pestilens, Eshin, and Verminous(?)/the martial clan on the designs? which means you have the opportunity to mix and match to make clan-specific units it seems
  19. when you say army boxes do you mean the FOMO releases? If they're calling the new ork box a battleforce it's interesting it's coming before Christmas! hopefully more discount boxes in the future then
  20. yes, these new Clanrats are very explicitly made up of a bunch of (major) clans. which is my favorite detail about them!!
  21. here's hoping the suits finally realized you can shift more product by keeping it affordable...
  22. i knew there'd be at least one unit doing this my guess that the new 3-elite unit from the trailer is the most stable of Ruination is probably close to the mark too then
  23. it is both, but another big pro is that you don't have to keep buying more of the same unit to have every weapon loadout so you can keep up with whatever meta is current. this is a way to get more casual people into trying out the competitive side. i think there's no good answer to make both parties happy here, and i find myself agreeing with GW picking the modeling/creative freedom side over the weapon rules side. i have literally procrastinated building whole kits because i could not choose which weapon profile to give them ("magnetize them" is not a good answer for this either). will i miss more customization options for lists? sure i will 100%, but i won't miss it as much as feeling free to build a kit however i think looks best. the warscroll still retains flavor in a different way: the shields keep your save at a 3+ and the dual hammers is where the crit mortals comes from. invert it and you get dual wielders who have superhuman parrying and shieldbearers with lightning-charged bashes (directly from the Vindictors' reasoning for having crit mortals in 3e). ALL of that flavor with the same statline as Vindictors, so you can choose based on the unit's traits/abilities rather than weapon profile. Now i'm free to model build AND list build how i want My Army to look on the field.
  24. *hits the waterpipe of hopium* what if the new COS artillery can count as regulars in Stormkeep armies, not auxiliaries? surely the Cogfort will have other Ironweld friends coming with it yes-yes...
  25. holy cowhat that's amazing!!! thanks for confirming, i'll have to check which COS i'm defending
