  1. That might depend on what type of games you’re playing. I play meeting engagements and find that at 1,000 pts my Skryre are very effective. But at 2,000 pts I take hordes of clanrats because I’m trying to capture/hold objectives. At 500 pts I’d be taking something like 3xStormfiends, a warlock engineer/bombardier and a couple of rattling guns 😉
  2. Depends what you want to achieve I guess. 6 unbuffed jezzails should do 5 damage to a 4+ save hero. With a spark this becomes 7.5 (on average) and with the re-roll this is 10. Personally I’d be wanting to make sure I can kill a support hero in one turn.
  3. I think you’ll need a Warlock Engineer/Bombardier to buff those jezzails (spark, MMWP) but your clawlord should be ok with the -1 to hit him.
  4. I’m having a similar debate with myself at the moment. I usually run 2x40 clanrats and 30 stormvermin, or 3x20 clanrats. And I’m trying to decide whether to buy another 40 clanrats and run 3x40. I do like the stormvermin for their punch against large named characters and I’m trying to cut down my drops using the claw horde battalion, but that doesn’t leave me enough points to take the models I like (jezzails, Abom, Wolf Rats) and on the other hand I often find that 3x20 clanrats aren’t enough to hold and capture objectives. i’ll be interested in your next few battle reports Gwendar 👍
  5. A question about battalions and number of drops. I played a game this week with my pure moulder list (that I asked for advice on a few weeks ago) and for the first time found myself with an equal number of drops vs a Khorne list. I won the roll off, started deploying first and subsequently found myself in the unusual position of being able to decide whether to go first or not. I chose to go first because I felt obliged that having won the roll off that would be the obvious thing to do. so my question is this, how important is going first? I lost the game this week and felt that maybe if I’d gone second I might have performed better, and if I hadn’t wasted points making my army fit into as few drops as possible I’d have had a few more models on the field. I had Thanqoul as general so wasted my command trait and extra artefact too. looking at some of the recent lists above, I don’t see many battalions outside of Pestilens being used (unless you go full Skryre)
  6. For someone new to the game I can recommend playing Meeting Engagements. It’s a great introduction to the game and your 20 Stormvermin will perform well against smaller units (as is common in ME) Your stormvermin fulfil your basic battleline requirement leaving you free to buy/beg/borrow any other skaven units that you like to make up the remaining points. A clawlord can help buff your stormvermin so might be worth thinking about. Enjoy 😁
  7. Hi guys, looking for a little help with my 2k moulder list. This is what I have so far: Possible considerations are: Dropping 5 Wolf Rats, 2 rat ogres and 3 packmasters (260pts) for another 3 stormfiends Dropping Thanquol and 3 packmasters (460pts) for Screaming Bell and another 3 stormfiends Dropping 5 Wolf Rats (100pts) and taking 2 more rat ogres and having 2 units of 4 Thoughts? P.S. I don’t own any endless spells or verminlords. I have another master moulder, 2 rat ogres, 3 stormfiends and 3 packmasters 😃
  8. I use Thanquol a lot... I don’t have any Verminlords, but I like him. I take him with 4 braziers and use him as a battering ram. He’s a straight up hero killer dealing massive amounts of damage with good rend. If I want warpfire... I take a warpfire team. I’ve always found him pretty resilient too with his 4+/5+ save and healing a wound each round.
  9. List 2 looks spot-on. I play a similar list for meeting engagements. One thing to note, even though it’s 1k points, you only require 1 battleline. Just in case you wanted to open up some other options.
  10. It restores the whole unit as I understand. I’ve just built a 2k moulder army but not used it in any tournaments yet. I’m going with Thanquol, the battalion (worth the single drop alone) and some stormfiends for added firepower. I’ve just this week bought some Wolf Rats from forgeworld, going to give them a play tonight and see how they perform. I think moulder is often overlooked and has some great tools in there. My local players have developed a phobia of HPA and rat ogres 😂
  11. Yes, 1 in 20 can be a standard bearer. So you can have 2 in a unit of 40 plague monks. Same for plague monk musicians. No, you keep the bonus while ever the standard bearer is in the unit. So make sure you don’t remove them when allocating wounds. Same for clan rats. Keep your standard bearer/musician where they won’t be removed. Only when you’re less than 10 clanrats do you lose the shield bonus. Hope that helps 😁
  12. I believe so yes, the warscroll even states that it is a an obstacle (meaning it provides cover) in the same way as walls and fences are.
  13. Quick question on gnawholes. If a unit is in combat but within 6” of a gnawhole , would moving through the gnawhole count as a retreat?
