  1. There is precedence based on some of the Stormcast battalions from the previous book. Vanguard Wing (the one we all know and love) required units of Prosecutors. There was no unit simply called Prosecutors then. Its possible the tiny font subtext found on some units is meant to be just that, subtext. At least that's how Stormcast players played it for well over a year at the highest tournament levels.
  2. Honestly, Liberators and Paladins are their own problems. Neither have exactly been considered competitive choices for a long while (outside certain builds like Vanguard Wing). The new units just make their shortcoming far more apparent. The new units might very well be slightly too good. But that does not change that the older ones are not good enough.
  3. Thinking I might try out this list in a couple weeks: Allegiance: Nighthaunt Dreadblade Harrow (100) - General - Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts Reikenor the Grimhailer (180) - Lore of the Underworlds: Spectral Tether Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140) - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (140) - Artefact: Midnight Tome 20 x Chainrasp Horde (160) 6 x Spirit Hosts (240) 20 x Grimghast Reapers (280) 12 x Myrmourn Banshees (210) 10 x Bladegheist Revenants (180) Black Coach (280) Chronomantic Cogs (60) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 115
  4. Witch elves are not snap fit and are also a bit bigger, and a dual kit that comes with tons of extra parts. And they are also overpriced.
  5. I like the idea of Deadriders combined with Cogs and our reserve deployment. Landing 9" away from the enemy with +3 to charges makes things FAR easier. And I am already a fan of Dreadblades, Hexwraiths, and Black Coaches.
  6. Well there's my problem I guess. I was looking int the MS book for the rules on Endless Spells. You know the book that covers their rules of use and such. I needed to look in a different book. Silly me. Would it have killed GW to write sentence saying "NOTE: You may only include 1 of each endless spell in a pitched battle list" in the MS book?
  7. Do you have a page number for that, because I am not seeing it?
  8. Yes, yes, and yes. Again, they even give and example in the Endless Spells rules where the player has two balewinds out, and attempts to cast a 3rd, but does not actually own a 3rd model. For the Comet list, I fully expect that to be a Stormcast gimmick list of sorts. For the palisades, I don't think it will be as good as Sylvaneth Wylwoods, and those are free. As for Cogs, besides Nagash, I don't think there are any wizards in the game that even know that many spells, so I don't think you will get that much mileage out of that.
  9. You are right about being able to dispell and recast. For each instance of each endless spell you have payed for, you can have one instance active on the table. If you payed for it and its not there, you can try to bring it on, no questions asked. If you pay 200 points for 2 Purple Suns, you can have two on the table at once. If 1 gets dispelled, you can bring it back and have 2 again.
  10. They are not listed as unique, so as long as you pay for multiple, you could have multiple. The example in MS even talks about going to summon a 3rd Balewind Vortex when you only own 2.
  11. Eh, I would just go with Fenrisian Wolves or Chaos warhounds regardless. They look so much better than the Dire Wolf models imo.
  12. Have not thought far enough ahead for that. There is a ton of information to digest between our new and changed artifact and trait options, and stormhost options (which decide the former for us). Things get even more complicated when looking at the realm artifacts. There are a ton of ways things could go.
  13. So I had a ton of success in 1st edition with this list: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Lord-Celestant On Stardrake (560) - Celestine Hammer Lord-Castellant (100) Lord-Relictor (100) Knight-Heraldor (100) 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammers 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows 4 x Fulminators (480) 2 x Tempestors (220) Total: 1980 / 2000 (points are actually unchanged from last edition) But between the increased importance of magic (and the need to stop it), changes that seem to me to make the star drake less worthwhile, and especially the changes to Tempestors (only effects missile weapons, enemy can just move away before shooting, there are much cheaper and more efficient debuff options), I am thinking about redoing the list into something like this: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Lord-Arcanum on Celestial Dracoline (240) - General Lord-Castellant (100) Lord-Relictor (100) Knight-Heraldor (100) 5 x Sequitors (120) - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields 5 x Sequitors (120) - Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows 4 x Fulminators (480) 3 x Evocators on Dracolines (300) Everblaze Comet (100) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 2000 / 2000
  14. Warscroll Builder is largely a fan project and makes mistakes/misses things. Even Azyr, the official GW app can't be trusted (what with 20" melee range Ironguts and hits on 44+ goblins earlier this week). Neither are good references to make a rules statement on.
  15. Think I might try out an all cav list for Nighthaunt for funsies. Don't expect much out of it. But it looks fun to play: Allegiance: Nighthaunt Reikenor the Grimhailer (180) Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (140) Dreadblade Harrow (100) Dreadblade Harrow (100) 5 x Hexwraiths (160) 5 x Hexwraiths (160) 5 x Hexwraiths (160) 5 x Hexwraiths (160) Black Coach (280) Black Coach (280) Deathriders (130) Deathriders (130) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 87
  16. Yep, that is how the phoenix and hexwraiths have functioned since 8th edition when they were first made. Perfectly legitimate as long as you have the movements to move above the enemy and come back. In many instances, this might actually take more movement than passing all the way over them.
  17. You can only dispell endless spells at the start of the hero phase. So you can only do so before your other casting, not after.
  18. Maybe I will go with something along the lines of: Guardian of Souls - 140 Guardian of Souls - 140 Knight of Shrouds on Steed - 140 Spirit Torment - 120 Dreadblade Harrow - 100 Hexwraiths x5 - 160 Hexwraiths x5 - 160 Chainrasp Horde x20 - 160 Grimghast Reapers x20 - 280 Myrmourn Banshees x4 - 80 Chainghasts x2 - 80 Black Coach - 280 Deathriders - 130 Soulsnare Shackles - 20 1990/2000
  19. Only on the one piloting the Black Coach. Not the solo 60 point leader model.
  20. Agreed, and they also have something like a 200 point advantage.
  21. That is correct. Most of the units in the box are off size wise, and the few extra snap fit boxes available don't fix them. For nighthaunt you will forever be stuck with an extra stalker you can't use (you get 5, but they come in 4s). And you get 4 Grimghasts when a minimum unit is 10.
  22. Well they do have something like a 200 point advantage from what I hear. I will definitely be going over the contents and adjusting them for demos. Probably adding in the extra easy build Stalkers and Banshees at least.
  23. Get the Stalker easy build kit if you plan on running them (the drum is pretty much mandatory for the unit). Bin the 5th one in Soul Wars for parts. Try to get 6 more grimghasts with scythes somehow, or just bin them and move on. The remaining units can be used as is. Malignant box is okay for pure Nighthaunt, better for Legions. The big centerpiece model in the kit has 3 builds. All 3 can be used freely in Legions. In Nighthaunt, 2 can be taken as allies, and 1 can't be used at all. If you intend to stick purely with Nighthaun, Tormented Spirits is probably the better buy. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Nighthaunt-Tormented-Spirits Book pages appear to be completely unreadable other than the basic stat wheels.
  24. Most likely the instruction booklet warscroll has been redone to match the wording on their new warscroll (Frightful Touch goes off on an unmodified 6, rather than the old 6+).
