  1. Good army list! Only thing I'll be tempted to do is split the Witch elves in 2 units and use them more as annoyance units then a big block. They are a glass hammer so use them as such, throw into the enemy and if they die, they die, khaine will be pleased either way lol. Also, someone said dark elves can't get a 2+ save, but they can. Dreadlord on cold one with full plate and a Sheild = 2+ save.
  2. What edition were you playing with WS 6 witch elves??
  3. They don't get +1 CR as they are a single model. You need at least 2 models to claim +1 CR. They reason they have the close order is to do with movement. They cannot move like they did in 8th edition and are now bound to the same rules as all other close order units with the exception that they can make a single turn of up to 90 degrees at the end of movement.
  4. But they did make new base sizes, 30mm x 30mm and whatever the new calvery are on which I can't remember right now. A slann standing next to a unit means he can't be targeted by shooting unless he's the closet target so he safer as you don't want him in a unit that you want in combat.
  5. I've been playing dark elves for 30 years and I'm loving the new list. Really liking the characters, a dreadlord on a dragon is scary now. Sorceress with multiple focus familiars seem quite powerful and having access to a signature spell that reduces initiative is great. Black guard feel elite now as they should do and strength 6 executioners that don't strike last is very tasty. Cold one knights are as dangerous as feelingless killers riding dinosaurs should be. Sisters of slaughter have a nice glow up. Shades with chariot runners seem a fun idea And there are multiple builds Going monster heavy is viable now they aren't likely to be blown off tbe table before reaching combat. A khanite heavy force could be fun or just a standard army of city guard backed up with black guard, knights and a monster or 2. Every unit has some flavour now and I can see bring in a list. I'm sure as games are played, favorites will shine and become staples, but I can see any entry as unplayable or broken. I get this isn't what you wanted and it does seem GW hasn't met your expectations again but I think they've done a great job on the core and legacy lists There are a few oversights and things that need clarification, but those will come in time. I look forward to seeing the different armies people come up with.
  6. Trish Morission's (she designed most of the monsters back in the day) daughter did a lot of art work for TOW including the front cover of the rulebook. It's not a little building, they've been expanding for a long time now but I don't believe they have all 310 people in the office everyday, I think there is quite a bit of remote work done now especially for the artists and designers. I've no evidence for that however.
  7. There are 310 people who work in the design studio so the idea that only 4 are working on TOW is crazy!
  8. It's a pretty big oversight especially as they put it on WarCom but overall these pdfs are great. Dark elves were my first wargaming love and this has really reignited my passion for them. Now to decide a colour scheme!
  9. Am I missing something. Witch elves have the murderous rule but can't use it as they have 2 hand weapons and murderous can only be used with one hand weapon.
  10. Wraiths haven't been a unit in a undead army since 6th edition I believe. The wraith became a character. Edit: just remembered what they were like in 4th edition, 75 points a model, 3 wounds, 3 attacks with double handed weapons, immune to all but magical attacks. They were a bit over the top.
  11. Love the dark elves, black guard and executioners seem very good as do sisters of slaughter. Toughness 4 and 2+ save cold ones are awesome as well. Might have to make a noble on a chariot as well. The armies of Naggaroth are back. All hail the Witch King, the true Phoenix King!
  12. Contact GW and they'll sort it. In this case my guess would be they'll send new sprues. There might be a bit of a wait but they are good with replacing miscast, usually sending the whole model and letting you keep the damaged one.
  13. Thank you! This release really has got my creative juice flowing. So many armies, so little time and money!!
  14. Spent the day digging out out models and prepping some new ones. Got so many ideas for armies! Once the night goblins are done I'll have my dark elves ready to go. Army will be made up from all current models. Also have some chaos warriors which need to be stripped and repaired. These will be made up from models from 4th to 8th edition.
  15. To be fair, 5 always comes after 4 🤣🤣
  16. I don't think there is much doom and gloom, most people are super hyped and rediscovering the joys of rank and flank. I got a lot of pleasure of spending the evening writing army lists and it was good when I had a few points left I could spend them on a extra goblin or 2 or put a potion of strength on a character. Has the release been perfect? No. Was it all GWs fault? No. They can't control the weather or global conflicts. Are there lessons to be learnt? Yes. More stock is needed. This has been an ongoing issue not just with TOW. My suggestion would be to build the 4th factory they are thinking of doing. Was the release a success. Absolutely. It was like Christmas for me and my gaming friends, most of which we met and became friends because of warhammer fantasy. I said it before in the thread but I truly believe we are entering a new golden era for the hobby. Warhammer is back with a solid rule set, more models than expected are making a return with some very pleasant surprises. AoS is in great shape with the best models that GW have to offer. There is a great narrative happening right now and a new edition on the way with a long awaited and needed refresh for Skaven. The skirmish ganes continue to produce fantastic models to complement the main lines and can also serve as a pallete cleanser to paint something different. And 40k is well 40k. Kroot is getting an army! Every army has had a refresh at some point meaning they can concentrate on new stuff while also updating the units that need it. I can see AoS being in this situation in a couple of years. Drink deep of the hobby goodness my friends, times are good.
  17. Wasn't it Old Blacktoof? Thanks I'll check it out. There is something fun about writing army lists with pen and paper tho!
  18. Didn't he say well see dwarves and o&g by the end of the month? I also took it to mean they'll be released. It's not a big leap to guess GW would show something coming up on their launch day event. And didn't Whitefang laugh at the rumours?
  19. Just realised there are no ogres in the orc and goblin list even tho they are releasing the classic ogre models. Guess they must be in the arcane journal lists.
  20. I've missed writing army lists like this!!
  21. I think the majority of people are happy and enthusiastic about TOW and aside from the distrubution issues with players not getting there stuff in time and selling out I'll say the game is off and running with a bright future. There will always be people who say every game and edition is dead on arrival like those who say GW is going out of business after every financial report. And in other news, the postman has finally done his rounds and a heavy box was delivered!
  22. I hear they'll be changing to triangle bases next year!! 🤣🤣
  23. I may be wrong but the made to order products will be only available for a limited time meaning for the long run the only river and stone trolls available will be the plastic ones. As for the old mauader giant, I think that will be hugely popular not just with o&g players but painters and collectors in general, he goes for silly prices 2nd hand.
  24. This! What you say makes sense to me. I would love to see new common goblins (not a fan of the current ones) and a new plastic boar chariot (to bring the boars in line with the new ones) but can understand why they haven't been done. Now, if they make the Kev Adams night goblins available in made to order the orc and goblin release would be perfect!
