  1. For anyone who wants these minis but haven't any events near by, I suggest joining this group on fb. Will be fairly easy to get the models at normal rrp. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1710575492567307/?ref=share
  2. I'm in two minds as to how to run my witch elves. The rules suggest a big unit as they have the horde rule which means they need at least 20 (4 ranks of 5) to benefit from the +3 rank bonus but seeing as they have no armour, 30+ 7 wide would be better. However I think they would be better in smaller units say 12 - 14 strong 6 or 7 wide in 2 ranks. Set them up in the front of the army and slam into the enemy knowing they will all die but doing as much damage as possible. Thoughts?
  3. I'm so glad we don't have anyone spoiling the whole year of AoS (and now TOW). Kinda takes the wind out of the sails of the releases and I find the excitement builds to early and is all but spent by the time the actual releases comes around.
  4. You need to be 5 wide at least to get a rank bonus for regular infantry. Heavy infantry only need to be 4 wide. You get however many you pay for. So if you want a unit of 20 models consisting of 19 troopers and a hero you buy 19 troopers and a hero.
  5. Put together another sorceress and made a couple of unit fillers for the dark elves
  6. Pretty sure they are all new recasts. Old metal models were melted down, they didn't keep a stockpile. Remembering back to my days as a GW staff member when you could organise to go into the mail order room and fill a box and pay by weight (£20 per kg). Managed to get some unreleased models that way.
  7. While watching the Royal Rumble I put some more Druchii together. 5 shades, 5 harpies and a sorceress. Also got my first night goblin unit painted, will get some pics soon.
  8. They look so cool!! Great start to a army!
  9. @JackStreicherlove hearing about a Druchii victory and your army looks fantastic!!
  10. I can see now what you mean but I still think what I said is the correct interpretation.
  11. You can take either a doomwheel or WLC per 1000 points so at 2k you could have 2 doomwheels or 2 WLC or 1 doomwheel and 1 WLC. Not sure how it can be read as another way it's pretty clear it's 0 - 1 per 1000 points.
  12. They only can't use the rule on the turn they charge. Black guard are one of the few units it's not a bad thing if they are charged, I6 and fighting in 2 ranks with S4 - 1ap and armourbane (1) and hatred. Plus they have stubbon if it all goes wrong!
  13. High elves have never hated dark elves other than shadow warriors and Alth Anar. Martial Prowess let's you have supporting attacks to the flank and rear which as far as I can tell you can't do normally so I'm not seeing how you're saying Black Guard can't use it. The only 2 units who can use it are spears and black guard as they are the only ones armed with weapons that can fight in extra ranks. I agree about murderous, it's defo a oversight however don't forget every model is assumed to be armed with a hand weapon so you could chose to use a normal hand weapon instead of whatever else they have. But I do think the limitation of only being able to use it with one weapon will be removed.
  14. Loner characters can only join loner units and loner units can only be joined by loner characters. Loners unite lol
  15. Good army list! Only thing I'll be tempted to do is split the Witch elves in 2 units and use them more as annoyance units then a big block. They are a glass hammer so use them as such, throw into the enemy and if they die, they die, khaine will be pleased either way lol. Also, someone said dark elves can't get a 2+ save, but they can. Dreadlord on cold one with full plate and a Sheild = 2+ save.
  16. What edition were you playing with WS 6 witch elves??
  17. They don't get +1 CR as they are a single model. You need at least 2 models to claim +1 CR. They reason they have the close order is to do with movement. They cannot move like they did in 8th edition and are now bound to the same rules as all other close order units with the exception that they can make a single turn of up to 90 degrees at the end of movement.
  18. But they did make new base sizes, 30mm x 30mm and whatever the new calvery are on which I can't remember right now. A slann standing next to a unit means he can't be targeted by shooting unless he's the closet target so he safer as you don't want him in a unit that you want in combat.
  19. I've been playing dark elves for 30 years and I'm loving the new list. Really liking the characters, a dreadlord on a dragon is scary now. Sorceress with multiple focus familiars seem quite powerful and having access to a signature spell that reduces initiative is great. Black guard feel elite now as they should do and strength 6 executioners that don't strike last is very tasty. Cold one knights are as dangerous as feelingless killers riding dinosaurs should be. Sisters of slaughter have a nice glow up. Shades with chariot runners seem a fun idea And there are multiple builds Going monster heavy is viable now they aren't likely to be blown off tbe table before reaching combat. A khanite heavy force could be fun or just a standard army of city guard backed up with black guard, knights and a monster or 2. Every unit has some flavour now and I can see bring in a list. I'm sure as games are played, favorites will shine and become staples, but I can see any entry as unplayable or broken. I get this isn't what you wanted and it does seem GW hasn't met your expectations again but I think they've done a great job on the core and legacy lists There are a few oversights and things that need clarification, but those will come in time. I look forward to seeing the different armies people come up with.
  20. Trish Morission's (she designed most of the monsters back in the day) daughter did a lot of art work for TOW including the front cover of the rulebook. It's not a little building, they've been expanding for a long time now but I don't believe they have all 310 people in the office everyday, I think there is quite a bit of remote work done now especially for the artists and designers. I've no evidence for that however.
  21. There are 310 people who work in the design studio so the idea that only 4 are working on TOW is crazy!
  22. It's a pretty big oversight especially as they put it on WarCom but overall these pdfs are great. Dark elves were my first wargaming love and this has really reignited my passion for them. Now to decide a colour scheme!
  23. Am I missing something. Witch elves have the murderous rule but can't use it as they have 2 hand weapons and murderous can only be used with one hand weapon.
  24. Wraiths haven't been a unit in a undead army since 6th edition I believe. The wraith became a character. Edit: just remembered what they were like in 4th edition, 75 points a model, 3 wounds, 3 attacks with double handed weapons, immune to all but magical attacks. They were a bit over the top.
