  1. I'd say a cleansing phalanx is at it's strongest with an Arcanum on Gryphcharger (or Astreia for that matter) so you can autocast empower on your Sequitors, moving them from "strong" to "ridiculous".
  2. I think by harmless he means that the Pendulum always moves in a straight line, hopefully away from your own dudes.
  3. No, the recent FAQ clarified that the CA can only be used once on a "dead" unit.
  4. Which leads me to the conclusion that a mount is basically mandatory, as i hardly see enemy endless spells and the Gryphcharger generates so much value for those 60 points... ymmv of course.
  5. Evocators meet all the requirements, being a friendly unit with the Sacrosanct keyword, so yes they are eligible to be the target of empower.
  6. How does the LA interact with geminids, though? The CA specifies one model, not being able to push both spheres up doesn't really seem all that strong. The major advantage of the pendulum is that it can't backfire like other predatory spells.
  7. Smouldering Helm is a realm artifact, malign sorcery is the book you want.
  8. I'd argue it's not. In the warscroll of the Castellant it says you can set up the gryphhound, and if you do, you do so immediately, kind of during the Castellants drop. Then again i may be biased from certain 40k units, where the models of squadrons drop as one unit but are treated as seperate, individual units for all other purposes afterwards.
  9. The only case where the Drake couldn't move would be if he's just barely in contact with enemy models at the "pointy" ends"of his elliptical base, otherwise you'd still be able to turn on the spot and maintain b2b contact. Edit: that's assuming no terrain interferes ofc
  10. Most people are of the opinion that Evocators on foot are better, as they are cheaper and deal more damage per point. The advantages of Dracolines are in mobility and reliability, imo. They are fast, thus don't need to be scions'ed on the board and dont get stranded after obliterating their initial target. They reroll charges if you go for the long bomb charge. Add a Heraldor to get the most out of run and charge/ retreat and charge, add a Lord Arcanum on Dracoline for bonus attacks and maybe even defense with thundershock and revives. Evocators on foot may be more efficient, but Kittycators are clearly more fun to play around with
  11. It also says pick one or more targets after the pile in, no mention of successive bites. If you only wanna pick one, go ahead
  12. I don't think a Veritant viable in Sacrosanct lists. The guaranteed unbind on the Incantor and sheer number of wizards should suffice imo.ü
  13. I do run Hammers, too, and one of the things i really like is the warlord trait. I intend to run a Lord Arcanum on Dracoline with a proper Kittycator unit. That 6+ shrug is strong on all things Stormcast (who suffer from mortals). Add a castellant and cycle of the storm, it gets really annoying. That said, what mount trait to use on a Dracoline? I'm undecided, the 6" pile in allows some shenanigans when picking the order for combats. +1 to hit for claws is great and gets better with CA and empower. "Stomping" a dangerous or very large unit to lessen retaliation seems good, moreso when stacked with thundershock. What to do?
  14. In my local gw store we started an armybuild event where we get to paint 100 pts per week and play one game a month ( with only the painted stuff ofc). There's even prizes in there. That should get me a fully painted SCE army at over 2k points by May. Then i'll play catch up on the 40k stuff i'll neglect until then. The idea is to not buy new stuff before the old stuff is painted. Also i want to invest in brush cleaner and not ruin brushes in avoidable manner!
  15. It comes down to personal preference, i tend to run Sequitors in units of 10 to make the most of buffs like the Lord Arcanum's CA. You could also add some allies (skinks are cheap mobile bodies) if it suits you. As i stated above i really like aetherwings for fillers, but that's hust me.
  16. That list is very low on the model count, you will be on the backfoot in any objective based game. Vandus is considered overpriced by many, you might wanna replace him with, say, a Knight Heraldor (works wonders with Fulminators as they need to charge to do serious damage) and use the remaining points to get some more bodies, more Sequitors or Aetherwings for example. Is the Lord Arcanum on foot? Because i'd highly recommend a gryphcharger if you don't intend to bring endless spells along. Also note that this list will not make many friends in casual games.
  17. In smaller games the Celestant on Dracoth is a beast, with shield and cover/staunch defender/castellant lantern he's really hard to shift. Thanks to his move he's not that easy to avoid. But as games grow there are more tools to deal with him, too. The problem with him imo is the opportunity cost. A Lord Arcanum on Gryph is not quite as tanky and deals not quite as much damage but gets to cast a spell, has cycle of the storm and soulflasks, a ton of mobility in windrunner, and, maybe most importantly, unlocks sequitors as troops. Adding two of those expensive mounted lords hurts the model count of our already elite army. (While i'm saying this i'm toying with a double Arcanum list 😂)
  18. I'd prioritize a Knight Heraldor over the Azyros, fall back and charge doubles the damage output of dracolines, moreso with Pride Leader and Pack Alpha.
  19. Putting Gavriel's CA in the hero phase would allow the same shenaningans, as long as you bring a translocation priest (and get the prayer off), albeit with a larger investment. Translocate Gav to where he will be needed, use his CA in the movement phase scions in what wants to charge and there you go. I think making it single use per turn would be the preferable fix. Imo all CAs should be once per turn/round, there's nothing fun/engaging about stacking CP and getting bombed on the other end of a 3-4CP stacked overkill. If something is strong and there is no counterplay it's propably busted...
  20. @HammerOfSigmar If you consider wounds caused per point, leaving rend out will scew the numbers heavily. I know it's hard to objectively judge rend, as it gets better as the opposing save improves, but leaving it out of the equation seems worse to me. Not to forget that rend leads to consistent damage, as it smoothes out variance.
  21. I think 9 is overkill on multiple levels, 6 or 3 should be good though. Evocators in general are good at getting in between multiple units, especially a unit and their support hero, slaughter the unit with attacks, zap the character with mortal wounds. The dracolines make this even more worthwhile with -1 bravery (add terrifying aspect) and a LA who can pop flasks for extra mw, in a 3" radius. If you want a big unit for pure damage, go Evocators on foot, the Dracoline's role in my mind is to punish cuddly lord combos. Sidenote: The Dracolines are more likely to benefit from healing by Castellant and LAGC, as well as being cycled back to life due to larger amount of wounds.
  22. Maybe replace the vexillor with a lord relictor with translocation, incantor and evocators can cast lightning speed to reroll charges if you need it. -1 to hit prayer can help drake or evocators survive. Maybe scramble for pts to upgrade the templar to Lord Castellant for reroll1s with mws through shield. I'm not super experienced in tournament play though, just my 2cts
  23. I think it's less stormcast in general than specific units in stormcast that are rather lackluster. Horde armies are simply more efficient (and suffer less from outliers in dice) and automatically play missions better due to more board presence.
  24. Point taken, so a hero must remain on the field when the unit dies for the ability to be used. Ergo @Saxon got "cheated".
