I overall love the pdf armies. I‘ve been playing around with Dark Elves and Vampire lists - while those are solid overall I see some oddities:
Vamps:
- Can’t cast with armour
- No plate armour option
- Max lv 2 caster Vamps
- Blood Knights lost 1 Strength, which is weird
- The magic items are very expensive for okay effects
- The Vampiric Abilities might be fun but a little lackluster
- The Carstein Ring should not exist at this point in time.
- Not odd, just sad: I can’t play 15 Blood Knights (I know, balancing reasons)
Dark Elves:
- Murderous is odd: Assassins with 2 weapons and witch elves can’t use it
And more that currently slipped my mind

Question: Am I right to assume that a Vampire Lord can’t cast spells once he wears any armour? (I could not find a rule allowing them)

Wait, isn’t the Vampire Roaster missing a unit?
wraiths?

Btw, out of curiosity. What's the procedure in a case like that? You send the whole box back and you "lose it"? Considering that the box is out of stock. Or do you contact them and they send you back the damaged sprue?
I only had problems with Salvat's magazine (Spanish Hachette filial) and whenever something is wrong or missing they send the whole issue to you.I've had missing sprues and parts several times now.
You contact them with images and they'll often even send you an entirely new box as compensation. (that was the case with the start collecting boxes)- 1

Spent the day digging out out models and prepping some new ones. Got so many ideas for armies!
Once the night goblins are done I'll have my dark elves ready to go. Army will be made up from all current models.
Also have some chaos warriors which need to be stripped and repaired. These will be made up from models from 4th to 8th edition.
My neglectabled CoS Dark Elves are waiting to be unleashed as well. Same for my Vampires (now with BLOOdKIGhTs that look cool)

Also this constant noting of extra cognitive load....not really sure I agree with that. It's not hard to type a reminder sheet for oneself, and if you're playing your army over and over, one ought to be able to remember all the stuff one's army can do and should do in different situations.
Spoiler alert: I don’t want to spent time and resources on notes and reminders when I just want to have a quick game.
I for one am a person who alternates between different armies a lot since I get bored easily - so no, I can’t remember all of the little nuances and the battle tactics for each and every faction all the time.
Since I’ve been sticking to CoS for a weirdly long time (15ish games) the holiday gaming break almost acted like a hard reset for me and I misplayed in my last game a lot. Then there’s the frequency of getting in games. For me it was 1 game a week if everything went right. Once I managed 2 games but more often than not I was too exhausted after work so it was 0 games.
Sure one does not need a reminder sheet if one plays several times a week with one faction. But that’s not the reality for the majority of us.

Do we know when they’ll finally put up the rules for legacy factions?

I especially liked Tom’s idea at the end where he suggested a more narrative theme of a generals journal that weaves the components of the GHB together.
Same. Imo the game has shifted too much into the competitive direction.

monetising their players
Two words: General‘s Handbook
@Hollow you what, why? They underpay their staff, try to milk every last cent out of customers in order to pay nice dividends/bonuses to their shareholders/executives. GW‘s artists are ace, concerning the company however it is nothing to be proud of. I would change my mind if the staff was paid well and there‘d be less toxicity within the studios (based on reports of former staff)

I get that, but some Goblins cost the same as a vampire or other hero. They have to lower the point cost for weak heroes and create these horde armies again. And i am glad i dont have to spend triple the money to build a force with the same point total like how it used to be with whfb. Dont know if i explain this well enough.
Sure but one usually doesn't even pay for the combat profile but for the utility (the buff aura, special rules etc.), because the combat profile is neglectable.

I really hate it that nominally powerful heroes like a Chaos/Vampire Lords or Ghoul Kings are at best really good buff pieces
Agreed, they don't feel like heroes, but like champions with a buff aura/rule. A Goblin basically being as good and sometimes even better than a Vampire Lord breaks the illusion completely for me. They've steered into a corner in which all foot heroes are the same except for their model which imo is an issue.
The same goes for ridden Monsters: A Monster that does not deal solid damage feels utterly bad. Don't make monsters primarily buff pieces (looking at you Thalia).
Imo this video kontributes to this discussion

Some early tomes got the curse of being the early tomes but i dont think any of them are actually that bad
The Stormcast Tome just knocked. It told me it needs cheese to survive.

It would‘ve been waaay smarter for WarCry to not be so chaos-centric for so long
It might be a smart move to make some old Warcry Warbands mercenaries, since they don’t necessarily look like chaos anyways, they’re just tribal people of the realms.

If I was religious, I'd give this a hearty "amen". Battle Tactics have been a major fly in my ointment ever since they reared their ugly head. I'd love to see them shoved off entirely. Or, if we must endure them, at least drop the Once Per Battle stipulation. I find that by the third turn onwards I'm just trying to pick the ones that aren't going to hold up the game any further.
Grand Strategies I don't mind so much, probably because they're not changing all the time.
Counter point: Keep battle tactics in the shape of the scenario providing a small list of them, while being the only way to score.
Objectives might get a new role outside of scoring which could enable them to become terrain or physical markers: Replenishing troops, rallying (please, change battleshock), more defense etc. They could become a cool hybrid of terrain and effect.
To me it’s either standing in magic circles and winning OR doing nonsense because reasons and then magically winning - both warps the game too much out of shape to a point where the immersion is gone and I could simply play chess instead.
oh, almost forgot: Make the Double Turn tied to specific Scenarios as well. I thoroughly hate it as a ever-present rule.

Sucks, but I guess Tahlia is kind of squishy like that. After I finish all the models in my current list, I want to look into getting her and Karl Franz for a monster heavy list that focusses on counter charging. See how that works out.
Yes! I plan on doing a pure cavalry list at some point

Next one:
28.5mm to 25mm trays.
6 by 2 and 4 by 2
This is about the maximum one can do without building a spiral staircase (which, I did for 32mm to 25mm converters)
speaking of spiral staricases, also attached. (these look like the EU might sue me for putting this abomination into existence)
28mm to 5mm 2by2.stl 28mm to 5mm 6by2.stl 32mm To 30mm Tray 7 by 4.stl 32mmTo25mm 2by2.stl

They better not! There's a reason why they are called the "Daughters of Khaine": they worship Khaine (who is actually dead but may come back), and Morathi was the Oracle, and now the aspect of Khaine having Malerion thrown in would just not fit. Plus, it would be a waste to basically remake the old Dark Elves in such a way.
Plus Malerion is supposed to hate Morathi.
I would not mind combining them and giving the DoK a huge subfaction
It's always been a love-hate-relationship with the two, so who knows.
As others have mentioned: The range of DoK is wildly lacking (also gameplay wise)

Hot take : DoK feels incomplete because when they release Malerion's shadow elves they're gonna merge them into one big faction of Ulgu elves.
Let’s hope so

Also no plate armour for vamps (but weirdly for dreadlords)
anyways I love the lists one can build with Vamps and Dark Elves 😃
