  1. This might sound like an odd question, but what all can you realistically build out of the Burning Chariot sprue? I mean is it possible to build it as an exalted flamer, herald on foot, and 2 screamers? (assuming we buy the needed bases)  Essentially thinking about getting 3 start collectings as a jumping off point for someone.

Basically could I build all this with 3 SC boxes: 30x pinks, 9x flamers, 3x Herald on foot, 3x exalted flamer, and 15x screamers (9 regular from the boxes, and 2 extra from each of the 3 chariots)?

I would say Chaos and Death will recieve a Mega as well, I could very well see Chaos having a Warstomper and Death a Gatebreaker, that cowl on the Gatebreaker would fit in very well with a Nighthaunt army ;)

Itll be a fantastic release in that technically every Faction is receiving a new model!!

I just wish it was a hero. Nighthaunt desperately need a hero with more than 7 wounds.

Good catch. Fixed. Well, kinda. Updated the counts which really hurts the Chainguard overall. I think it makes Deathriders the better option.

I definitely think Deathriders is the best options. Ironically with all our points drops, you could do two Deathriders battalions. No idea how competitive it would be but it looks fun.

    Allegiance: Nighthaunt

    Leaders
    Spirit Torment (120)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts
    - Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind
    Dreadblade Harrow (90)
    - Artefact: Slitter
    Dreadblade Harrow (90)
    - Artefact: Midnight Tome - Soul Cage
Lady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief (200)
    - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist

    Battleline
    10 x Hexwraiths (260)
    5 x Hexwraiths (130)
    10 x Hexwraiths (260)
    5 x Hexwraiths (130)

    Behemoths
    Black Coach (220)
    Black Coach (220)

    Battalions
    Deathriders (130)
    Deathriders (130)

I love how the Middle-Earth SBG's priority roll and turn structure (I-Move/You-Move, I-Shoot/You-Shoot, Fight!) keeps the benefits and hedge-your-bets competitive strategy of the double-turn while also eliminating the chance for a player in more-casual-games to sit there for twenty minutes doing nothing while their opponent gets to do everything twice in a row and blow half their army of the board. Best of both worlds! Plus, it improves the pacing of the game overall, with shorter stretches of player downtime.

Stop defending the double-turn. Start pushing for MESBG turn structure in 3rd Ed!

I'm all for something like this, alternating activation's. But I am 100% against the 40k "turn order stays the same all game" rule.  Especially with shooting becoming a bigger part of the meta. All melee armies would just fall to F tier if they have to cross the battlefield into enemy fire multiple turns just to hit for the first time.

Ooh now that’s interesting!   We wouldn’t be able to have Metalcruncher and Black Clatterhorn, only one mount trait unless it’s Boulderhead I think.

Ive never used the Spell Portal.  That would be great for Gutmagics.   Time for a few more cats and another Slaughtermaster.

Awesome!  I’m very eager to get that ready for my next game(s).    Maybe it’s good I sprained my ankle and have to rest for a couple days 😬

Each battalion you take lets you pick another mount trait.

Not sure we do. 48" threat range archers that don't need LoS and can fish for mortals. Amongst other stuff 😢

Spirit Hosts can go down to 60 points any day now. 🙂

Say it's a 50/50 chance to cast it. You fail, cast again. With two casts you're talking a 75% chance. A third cast 87,5. It doesn't matter if it's mystic shield. It does if it's soulscream bridge on which your whole strategy hangs.
In the same manner, can I then attempt a dispel until I get it? So i'm bringing three runelords. You get your soulscream bridge off, and can I then attempt to dispel until I get it or run out of attempts?

But I do get it though. Just would be a less fun in my mind if it's a general thing. If it's faction rules it's better limited. Like the Skaven Warp Lightning spell.

But you never know until you try. ;)

No, the mistake here is that if it's 50/50 first time, it's 50/50 every time. Percentages do not go up. A coin flip is always 50/50. And you would only have to dispel it on the successful cast. And if we go that way, sure you can attempt to dispel it more times. I would much rather have MORE interaction in the game than less.

I'm just trying to create coherency. If we aren't going to have magic re-rolls, why do we have attack re-rolls, wound re-rolls, save re-rolls, charge re-rolls, battleshock re-rolls, etc.

    Then where’s the risk reward?
it should be possible to fail things. The argument

To me, this is all about trying to find a way to avoid risk. Again it’s very personal, but a dice game without risk is boring.
that’s why I think the teclis rules are boring. Nagash with +4 can at least roll snake eyes to fail.
super glad the incantor dispel scroll was not a sign of every army getting them.

and some faction/units having a way to mitigate a risk a bit can be real thematic. But keep it specific not general would be my thought.

You can still fail. But spending resources (spell attempts) to get essentially a re-roll is less "feel bad". Combat has so many ways to re-roll and make it more likely to succeed if built correctly. Let magic have the same.

Im pretty sure magic has been very much unleashed for some recent factions 😂

as to the question. I’d rather have tweaks than a full new edition update.

While I do like the new spells that allow any number of wizards to cast them, I want to be able to try a specific spell multiple times. But still limit it to one actual casting. Only if it fails or gets unbound you can try again.

  10. We all know it is inevitable. Let's discuss some things that could be done to make the game better for everyone.

First, I would like spells to be allowed multiple castings per turn if the previous attempts failed. Sometimes you really just need one spell to go off and you get the snake eyes. There aren't nearly as many magic re-rolls available as combat re-rolls. Lets unleash the magic!

Secondly, I would like to see a line of terrain made available to all armies. The Forbidden Power Penumbral Engine is a good start, but the points are way off. More people buying terrain in general is good for everyone. Tables look better and GW makes that money.

  11. I'm thinking something like this for S2D Tzeentch allegiance. This isn't for tournaments, just for fun but competitive games.

    Allegiance: Tzeentch
    - Change Coven: Cult of a Thousand Eyes (Host of Chaos)
    Mortal Realm: Ulgu

    Leaders
    Chaos Lord on Karkadrak (230)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Tzeentch is Pleased
    - Artefact: Crown of Whispers
    Archaon the Everchosen (800)
    - Lore of Fate: Bolt of Tzeentch
    - Lore of Change: Treason of Tzeentch

    Battleline
    10 x Chaos Warriors (180)
    - Hand Weapon & Shield
    5 x Chaos Warriors (90)
    - Hand Weapon & Shield
    5 x Chaos Warriors (90)
    - Hand Weapon & Shield

    Units
    3 x Varanguard (280)
    - 3x Fellspears
    5 x Chaos Knights (160)
    - Cursed Lance
    5 x Chaos Knights (160)
    - Cursed Lance

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 114

  12. Little late to this chaos party, if I take Host of the Everchosen can I just pick an artefact from any of the legions? (Ravagers/Despoilers/Cabalists?) Or do I have to use the realm artefacts?

Also, if my whole army is Slaves to Darkness units (Archaon, Varanguard, Chaos Knight, Chaos Warriors) can I just play them as any chaos god book since Warriors are generic chaos battleline? Like the whole army can be Khorne and use Khorne allegiance abilities and artefacts/command traits?

Any thoughts on the lists I presented above? I also did a build at 1500pts including a group of 40 chainrasps and with discount, it was damn cheap and was dead on 1.5k.

When should we use a group of 40 rasps? I haven't seen such a big blob in lists, is it better to go 2x 20 instead?

If you know your battleplan use the 40 blob on stuff like starstrike. Just deep strike or spectral summon them on an objective and let your opponent spend forever getting rid of them. Bubble wrapped around a guardian of souls bringing em back every turn is a mighty anvil.

Well, Nighthaunt has an amazing range (for AOS and WHU), and two great exclusive models. It also got the Legion of Grief rules in Forbidden Power and the Dolorum supplement in White Dwarf already.

What we know so far :

    - A White Dwarf showed different artworks of the city of Excelsis in Ghur, arts not used in the later released Cities Of Sigmar book nor anywhere else yet.

    - Forbidden Power, then a story on WarCom, then Orruks Warclans and Cities of Sigmar all confirmed that Gordrakk stole in a Stormvault a Godbeast skull and mounted it on a Siege engine. He wants to attack Azyr (an unexplored Mortal Realm at least in terms of map and supplement), but first he wants to test his battering ram on Excelsis in Ghur (another unexplored Realm in terms of map and supplement).

    - We have a "Soul Wars" supplement for Chaos and Death aka Wrath Of The Everchosen with some siege rules already. Those factions left, Order and Destruction, are the protagonists of the other "Soul Wars" subplot, i.e. Gordrakk attacking Excelsis.

    - GW has updated all battletomes so far (and is ready to launch two new armies aka LRL and SOB) and seems fond in releasing supplements recently (Psychic Awakening style).

All this add-up very well IMO.

They have an amazing range that is wasted on homogenized warscrolls, lackluster abilities, and a bottom tier overall army.

I'm not saying I want them to get new rules that put them over Tzeentch/Slaanesh, but being able to not get tabled in one or two turns would be nice.

Hey folks, what do you think about the white dwarf preview of the legion of tithe?

It's mentioned that there will be 3 warscroll battalions do you think there will also be new subfactions abilities?

What rules do you think ossiarch bonereapers would need right now to allow for more diverse play style ? :)

(I would trade my +1 save for something built around resurrection)

The rich get richer. As if OBR needed more updates.

Seriously, Nighthaunt needs the love. All the other death factions can stand on their own. We have no terrain, we have no "coven" equivalent, our endless spells may as well not exist, a lot of our warscrolls feel samey...COME ON GW! DONT DO MY SPOOKY BOYS LIKE THIS!!!

I think anything with a 2+ save that can be re-rolled is a negative play experience. I had hoped the original intent behind nerfing Mystic Shield in 2.0 was to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. It appears that whole mantra has slipped by the wayside.

And people called my spooky boys {"broken" for having an army wide 4+ originally. Tried to tell em not getting cover bonus was a big deal.

Ive been hoping for a rework but at this point I honestly wouldnt mind a few point drops to tide us over.

Glaivewraiths would be a lot of fun if they were cheaper, bouncing around leaving combats and charging past to intercept characters

Glaivewraiths for sure need a re-write. They are too same-y with GGR's of BGR's and are worse than both.

I'm curious what the ghb is going to look like this year. In the past there have always been obvious problem books that need reigning in (daughters, slaanesh, Slaven, etc.) But now things feel mostly ok. I guess tzeentch might need some adjustments? But they're the best counter to petrifex, so if you nerf tzeentch then petrifex will need one as well.

Plus a good chunk has always been army rules for factions that don't have books yet. With all the factions updated I wonder what they'll do to fill in those pages.

"This year we will be replacing the GHB with new books for Nighthaunt, Stormcast, Beasts of Chaos, and Nurgle".

    One can only hope.

Do we have any chances at points/rules revisions this year? GHB19 and LoG both failed to impress me; hoping theres something this year to throw us some sort of a bone

While points drops are nice (looking at you Mounrgul for 280), we really need to avoid the "race to the bottom" and get updated allegiance abilities in the GHB or a Wrath of the Everchosen type book. I don't wanna buy more and more models, only to finally get a book and be unable to play half my army due to updated warscrolls and massive point raises.
