  1. Well I mean of course everyone wants new models. That’s sort of a given in this hobby. But they have to be in keeping with how the game works. Endless spells are a points investment which are also a gamble of sorts. They can potentially do tremendous damage or modify fights but the caveat is that most with that potential are not fully controllable. By the same token any similar addition to KO would need to have that aspect. A flying 12 inch D6 MW “spell” has no setbacks what so ever. It’s basically a hero that auto hits, dosent need to charge, and can’t be hit back or stopped for, going off the existing Endless Spell points, 100 points max. That’s ridiculous. You would need to add in the caveat that once fired it can go in a certain trajectory and then scatter, or roll for a misfire from the ship that fired it each turn to represent the strain of experimental weaponry or something to bring it more in keeping with an Endless Spell.
  2. Only thing with that is most Endless Spells are not consistently “for” one player. The initial cast is but then after that majority are preadatory. Could have something like a Tornado or Thunderstorm or such that KO due to their navigational prowess can “predict” and stay away from initially while enemy gets caught in it.
  3. My guess would be the weekend they go up in price
  4. The Wyvern is one of the best models GW has ever made, it’s exceptional. Shame that it dosent really have a home.
  5. I came very close to buying one but was indeed intimidated by the idea of painting/transporting it. Maybe as a treat once I have everything else finished.
  6. It’s certaibly a win from the perspective of someone short on painting time as well!
  7. The completley GW sanctioned randomness of multiple aspects of the Gitz mechanics should really spell out how intentionally poorly designed AOS is as a balanced game. As balanced rules they appear to be, well, chaotic, but as rules designed to simulate a tribe of moon worshipping lunatics they appear to have hit the ball out of the park. The grief some people will no doubt express over how their try hard netlist was decimated by a moon that isnt even on the board is a very exciting prospect to me in all honesty.
  8. Aye, all GW art these days is basically just a literal painting of a model, pose and all. One of the few aspects of the new GW I’m not so fond of.
  9. I’m really worried the Loon Boss might have an equivalent to Curse of Years thsat kills everything on the table. I have no evidence this is how his abilities will work but if they do that will be really imbalanced don’t you think
  10. Concern based on completley uninformed conclusions dosent tend to be particularly constructive. Probably worth waiting to see whether there’s anything to be concerned about first I would have thought.
  11. You can get basically the same unit plus a Lord Arcanum for the same points who can do multiple things for you anywhere on the battlefield including casting Azyrite Halo on some Sequitors or something who can re-roll everything, as well as casting the Halo you would have cast on the Celestant on someone else because the Templar dosent need it, or more likely casting an entirely different spell on another unit as the battle dictates, while still getting the Templar who is doing more or less the same job as the Celestant. It’s far from definitely better for that reason.
  12. You’re paying 160 points extra for Ignax and the Command Ability basically, the rest is pretty much the same unit with the addition that Smouldering Helm can hurt models that attack it regardless of distance, not limited to 3”. Templar can also offer more tactical options with his weapons than Celestant. Re the Judicator list, I did it consider it as I like to run 10 at the moment. Came to the conclusion that 620 points spent on more versatile units with a free pile-in etc is more flexible and does far more damage though.
  13. If you take a Drakesworn Templar, give him the Smouldering Helm (MW to attackers on a save 6+) then buff him with a Castellant and SD making the SH proc on a 4+ and fly him into a horde or something with dozens upon dozens of attacks they do a lot of damage while also doing an excellent job as an unkillable tarpit. As ever though for Stormcast MW’s are a bane
  14. Great shout that. Probably alongside GHB as last year.
  15. You’re missing my point though. The release now is not what it would have been a year ago because they’ve had a year longer to work on the release and it’s contents. If you’re saying that people would have been just as happy a year ago with just a leader and two new units well I mean I guess they might have been but they would demonstrably have lost out on amazing models and a fuller concept in that case. And no-I’ve has endured any hardship or loss by virtue of just having to be patient. Literally no-one. Im not discouraging anyone from anything. I’ve just observed that the pattern GW have taken indicates that in spite of people’s aspirations, insistences, demands or otherwise, the hobby is in good hands and developing at a rate better than anyone else could deliver. What’s apparent though is that they have a plan to tell a story through the releases and it’s not one based upon parity or equality among factions, so complaining about how x faction got all this but y faction hasn’t is sort of futile because these expectations have not been created or sustained by GW at any point. It’s dsft to complain about someone not doing something they never promised to do,
  16. Same reason they didnt release one with Wrath and Rapture. Lots of people when that was previewed had the same logic as to why it definitively meant Slaanesh tome was coming. I knew it wasn’t for the same reason I’m pretty sure I know why it isn’t now either. Slaanesh’s imprisonment and the surrounding context is probably the biggest piece of narrative ammunition AOS has right now and they’re going to drip feed it until AOS 3.0 I think. Because when Slaanesh is released you can bet it’s not just going to be the same Slaanesh units there were in Warhammer. They had some commercial purpose for locking Slaanesh away literally years ago and I doubt the outcome of it is two extra models to the range and a Battletome that will receive less fanfare than the Goblin release on the Community announcement page. Its apparent from the Lore with the Bad Moon and the head Loon guy and what he’s done to the realm of metal as well is that the Grots are going to make a lot more noise in the narrative than I think anyone suspected. They’re not going to risk a big Slaanesh event getting lost amidst that. I’d bet my house on it being a new unit at most as well as some sort of named character who will point towards the events which lead to the eventual Slaanesh release in probably 2020, where I suspect they will also release with Ulgu elves and some form of espionage SC release (Ruinuation Chamber would be my guess). I suspect in 40k it will be similar. In the past I wouldn’t have betted against a sort of Followers of Slaanesh tome and it might still happen I suppose but I’m pretty sure they’re going to keep it on the boil and let it explode next year personally. Although I think there’s potential for a “middle chapter” where there will be a similar set to Blight War this time next year with said new Slaanesh unit and hero and a new SC Chamber. In fact saying that now I think it’s very likely actually cone to think of it. Hmm.
  17. If it had been released 2/6/12 months ago it wouldnt have looked like this. It’s a far more complete release than most were expecting but if GW had bowed to the pressure of the members of the community who wanted it now and couldn’t see why it wasn’t being released immediately etc it wouldn’t have been nearly as exciting or impressive.
  18. It confirms more Slaanesh models. No mention of a tome or larger release. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a unit or two at most, probably of seekers.
  19. The joy at which people have recieved the Gloomspite release does rather put into perspective the persistent whining that occurrs around the failure of x or y favoured faction or tome to simply materialise at the whim of impatient people and how stupid GW are to be missing out on these sure-fire hot selling items. As if it wasn’t apparent already, GW know better than anyone else what works and when to do it just now
  20. Despite what the paint app etc claim I gather that display models like this tend to be painted with mixes rather than pure colours for the most part.
  21. GW dosent make products on the basis of equality though. Look at how many space marines there are. New Troggoths (still a stupid name) are pretty good. Kind of Jim Henson does Warhammer vibe. But they’re not a patch on the old Stone Trolls. Not much is mind. Im actually most excited to see how brave they’ve been with the rules. Hoping for something properly mad.
  22. From a playing to win perspective you’re trading a buff which effects multiple consistent rolls (SD) for one that will be situationally useful. In a game where there’s a lot of luck involved I tend to find the things you consistently control are key, the more of those you have the more you can dictate the key moments. You can establish a consistently powerful defence around Staunch Defender. You can’t around a +4 dice roll and CP.
  23. They’re super humans basically. Their valour and virtue is drawn from their humanity but their strength and power transcends humanity. And their armour is also massive. But they’re not really humans anymore. In the Lore other humans tend to see them as either friendly giants/angels when they’re approachable or terrifying automatons created for one purpose.
  24. Just wanted to share my 1500 point list that’s currently working well in my local group. My goal wasn't to make something that was invincible or that could take all comers. I was far more interested in creating something which avoided the tedium of Gav Bomb or other "Hail Mary two turns games over" approach and create an army that felt and played true to the feel of Stormcast and made the most of their combined arms and expertise while still being good at the game. Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Realm: Ulgu Heroes Lord Arcanum with Scroll of Condemnation and Azyrite Halo 240 Lord Castellant 100 Priest 100 Battleline 5 x Liberators 100 5 x Judicators 160 5 x Judicators 160 10 x Sequitors 240 Other 10 x Evocators 400 Obviously deployment depends on Battleplan but Broadly speaking it's set around a classic Hammer and Anvil tactic. The Liberators spread out as wide as possible in the Centre while the Judicators take objectives either side and plink at things from a distance. Castellant's Gryph Hound jogs off to join them and support with summoning issues. Castellant and LA give the Liberators a 2+ save and the LA gives them Azyr Halo and they sit in the middle and dare people to charge at them while the Hero team stand some distance behind them and and shout encouragingly. The priest heals or damages as required (Prayer is picked depending on opposition) and the Sequitors and Evocators come in to clear out the backline or flanks as the situation dictates. The thing that I really like about it is that it creates matchups that allow Stormcast to act as the elite that they are supposed to be in pretty much all circumstances. The "Centre" can hold out to a remarkable amount of damage with Cycle of the Storm and the Priest and Castellant to heal them and are an amazing tanking unit for a measly 100 points. They also do the job of sucking in the opposition as there's very little else on offer for them to hit with half my army off the table and the rest of it behind them. The heroes are providing constant value with their buffs before they swing a weapon. Judicators reliably cause wounds without taking any in return for a while and with the Gryph Hound are a solid objective defense platform. Again, in most circumstances they will require an investment far greater than the points they cost to shift them. Evocators or Empowered Sequitors are going to delete most things they come up against in a points match up and that's before they receive any buffs from Heroes. Scroll of Condemnation is an insurance option against the few things which are liable to cause them any sustained trouble. Worse case scenario the centre is lost but it's usually at cost due to the Halo Spell, almost certainly required more than 100 points to shift it, and even then it's really just a question of trading, and with a general who can reliably hop to either side of the board in a turn and two units who can come on from anywhere and delete most things in a short space of time even then you're probably going to come off better. I have a 2000 point extension in mind which is more aggressive but I have no idea how viable it is. Liberators make way for a unit of Gryph Hounds(!) and provide the same screening duties, but in this instance the plan is more about dictating the centre than holding it. With 18 wounds and a 5+ save and the same healing powers behind they they will be able to hold for a short while if needed but it's more about denying the centre. Evocators on Dracolines are lined up behind them at a judicious range to facilitate the charge if I get the turn and deny it if I don't . Sequitors are split into two units of five with the Cleansing Phalanx Battalion, deployed or in Heaven as circumstances dictates. The Hounds melt away to nab objectives or take up flanking duties with the Castellant as escort to give them their 4 attacks, the mounted Evocators plough through the middle and attract attention while the Sequitors and Evocators come on as before to threaten the flanks or centre as required. The Priest gives way for a Knight Zephyros who is armed with the Sword of Judgement and is there to shadow monsters and heroes. Even if she just ties one up for a few turns without killing it it's 100 points investment well returned. It's been really fun trying to work out what some of the lesser-favoured units in the current meta can do if you work on a synergy rather than just naked power play, highly recommend it!
