Have rounded up my most trusted fellow generals and we are super excited for this! Really hoping we manage to get tickets!
I'm churning out top hats for my gobbos at a rate of knots!

Absolutely love this. I wanted to buy both an arachnarok and a dankhold but they wouldn't really fit with my squiggy army. This however is an idea that needs to be stolen, even if it never makes it to a table!

Yeah I'd wager Spiderfang drew the short straw in this round in possibly getting new sculpts - although the huge possible centipede model could be spiderfang related. It would be odd for GW to have put a huge amount of effort into all the other areas of the Goblins and not give Spiderfang even a nod. Still getting to take spiders without any riders would be a big change in itself, both visually and likely gameplay wise.
Yeah turns out the thing that looked like a blurred out centipede is actually the Dankhold Troggoth. You can see it more clearly looking back at it now, the bit somebody missed out when circling it is the big statue hammer thing it carries.

Yeah it got FAQ'd so you only get Grand Alliance abilities plus the Firestorm abilities. Should be on the community site under the Firestorm book FAQ

I like the broken shackle artefact for a general on griffon. You can retreat and charge, and do it all while flying. Charge into a random mook screening unit, next turn retreat over the unit and then charge into squishy stuff behind!

The 'No longer available' happened with 40k Ork Boyz too. It was just because they were being repackaged into a box with new art and 32mm bases. Seems to be that GW treat them as a separate SKU and therefore make the entry no longer available before replacing it with a near identical looking webstore item later on.
Of course doesn't mean those squigs will come back, I think most of us are hoping for plastic versions to drop!

Demo Area: Have you played Speed Freeks yet? What about Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team? Our demo area will cater for these games and more, including Necromunda, Adeptus Titanicus and, of course, Warhammer 40,000 itself. You can even try out Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress!

That's the last weekend of November. Hard to tell if it's try it out ahead of pre-ordering or whatnot.

I'm curious if anyone has a size comparison between this new dragon and the Smaug model from GW. With the latter previously being the biggest GW dragon in production and priced £80 cheaper it'd be an interesting comparison
Not a great photo but might give you a rough sense of scale vs other FW greater daemons. This was from Warhammerfest.

So... With the Lord-Ordinator the Ballistas are hitting on 2+ at range, and a 4+ with the rapid shot... but with the Hurricanum the Ballistas hit on 3+ at rapid fire range... that is around 3 hits per ballista... 12 hits... 12d6 Celestar Ballista hits per shooting phase on average. That kind of fire with Rend -2 can remove units... if I could fine another +1 to hit they could be hitting on 2's. That seems way better than the Cannons at that point.
Knight Azyros? Only a temporary +1 most likely, but fly him up within 10" of something and there's another bonus. And a couple more mortal wounds available from him too.

Anyone else think it’s weird that they didn’t make a hero option for one on demigryph? The hero on horse is obsolete now that knights are gone.
they could easily say the captain made from the kits bits could represent a hq choice..
Isn't the hero on a horse just a general on horse?

When they say real soon I feel like the daemon box is going to come in late September or early October.
It's not coming before the end of October I'm afraid. You've got Rogue Trader, Beasts of Chaos, Nightvault and Speed Freeks due up til the end of October.

I'm surprised nobody's tweeted anything already. Or my Twitter app is trash.

Nova might bringus: Beastmen, Nighgoblins for AoS; Orks and with much luck Genestealers for 40k; Nightvault with the new starter box, teams as mentioned above either as content of the box or first wave (personaly I think we will see one or two ETB sets from nighhaunts and SCE translated to WU, Nightvault); next necromunda gang; FW stuff; Titan weapons for AT; LotR previews. Nova could be massiv!
Stormcast and Nighthaunt are of course in the starter box. Moonclan and Tzeentch are just the first 2 expansion warbands.

At Nova I'd expect Nightvault to be shown off with the scenery alongside the Moonclan and Tzeentch warbands. Maybe some focus on the funky new magic mechanics in it too.

GW has earned a lot of trust in their vision for "rawr over the top turn it up to 11" in the new AoS versions of World That Was armies.
It would just be a bummer if, with many clamoring for squigs, they warped the traditional look of squigs so much that they really don't capture the things that make squigs so appealing - a ball with teeth and a touch of humor.
I am nervous now, having seen the cave shaman and this ... whatever it is.
The Underworlds Squigs haven't changed in style. They're still definitively 'squiggy'!

@Tiger Nah, I just had a very interesting conversation today!
@Mr. White Try tzeentch! Mish mash warband that one.

Man I will be sad if all the noise about grots ends up being just an Underworlds band.
There's definitely a moonclan warband coming mid Octoberish, a week or two after the new set. 7 moonclan grots (with mushrooms on them of course) and 2 squigs. This Troggoth isn't with them though...

What do you think is the cheesiest ironweld arsenal goodies we can fit in as allies? I need a shopping list
I personally think the Stormcast Ballista is better than all of the Ironweld artillery. It's only 100 points which is cheaper than the Ironweld stuff and is more survivable due to the combined profile and cover bonus. The range is better as well and it just gets really good when the enemy gets within 18".
Anything you can do to give them a bonus to hit is great. Only thing is, that likely cuts down from 4 ballistas in a 2k list, to 2 and an Ordinator. I'd imagine odds wise, you're better with 4 than 2 and a +1 to hit bonus.

Now on the subject of dates, although soul wars fell in line with everything I saw and heard the dates did get changed. Malign sorcery was originally set for release first ( yes it was AoS 1 as a follow up to malign portents) AoS 2 and soul wars was originally slated for end of July.
Im pretty sure Martin Morrins slip up on whtv (announcing ‘AoS phase 2- nagash is kicking off’ during adepticon ) moved things forward regarding the AoS 2 release - which also coincides with the mess of a release we’ve had with scrolls not being ready small coverage in June WD etc.
The weekends for AoS2's release were already marked as green days (used to be red days...) for GW store managers before the Adepticon slip. They matched up pretty well to the 40k 8th ed release schedule too.

It’s unit to unit. Option B! Wholly within x inches of the unit.
Thanks! That makes the changes to Free Peoples a lot less restrictive than I feared. Somebody either here or on the Facebook was talking about carrying a 12" plate around to ensure all their units sat under it. Option B makes more sense because if you take 30 guard, 30 handgunners and 30 crossbows for example in Option A, trying to fit them into a 12" bubble would be a nightmare! Optino B still restricts things compared to before but it's a lot more manageable.
-
This is the bit I get confused with when it comes to wholly within as it seems 99% of the time it's a unit wholly within x inches of a model and that's nice and simple. When it's 2 units wholly within x of each other, does that mean that each model of unit A needs to be wholly within each model of unit B? Or as per the example above, unit B needs to be wholly within just one model of unit A and all of unit A wholly within one model of unit B? Bit awkward to explain but hopefully the below diagrams will help.

Is there a specific colour scheme for Greywater Fastness living city, and what do you think aret he best ironweld arsenal units to add? With an Ordinator Lord, of course.
Peachy has done a video that should by help.
I'm currently looking at a couple of Stormcast Ballistas personally for artillery (Only 100 points!), I might add in a Helblaster too for some random fun.

I have been reconsidering the Freeguild Regiment. With the points drops in the greatswords, demigryph and the battalion (more so if you consider the 50 point bonus CP) it is far more approachable. But the kicker for me is in the change to the great company rules, being wholly within favours small units.
The battalion bonus basically swaps out the the +1 to hit for large numbers and it is a bonus that you will rarely lose. So a unit of 10 handgunners in the battalion can still get 2s to hit and wound, and they can have it down to the last man.
I'd be looking at the following skeleton to work from.
Allegiance: Free Peoples
Leaders
Freeguild General (100)
- Stately War Banner
Battleline
3 x Demigryph Knights (140)
- Cavalry Halberd
10 x Freeguild Greatswords (140)
20 x Freeguild Guard (160)
- Swords and Shields
20 x Freeguild Guard (160)
- Swords and Shields
10 x Freeguild Guard (80)
- Halberds and Shields
10 x Freeguild Handgunners (100)
10 x Freeguild Handgunners (100)
10 x Freeguild Handgunners (100)
Units
5 x Freeguild Outriders (130)
5 x Freeguild Pistoliers (130)
Battalions
Freeguild Regiment (210)
Total: 1550 / 2000
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 127The 20 man guard units allow for 2 great companies, formed from the sword and board, halberds and handgunners. And you use each company as a single 40 man unit, much like the Darling Covens do. I would consider swapping one unit of gunners for some archers and folding the greatswords into a company. The archers help to prevent 1st turn free summons etc.
You still have enough room for a decent allies selection, griffon general is a no brainer (shame there is not enough room for 2), maybe some cannons, maybe some wizards. We need Mortal Wound output and spell defense, maybe a Hurricanum? It's a lot of points but it fills a few holes.
Since my wanderers got shat on I've been looking to pick the humans back up again. And I think the battalion has merit in AoS 2.0
I think this is now the way I'm heading towards with the Great Company changes. Only difference for me is probably sticking with sword and board for the small Guard unit and use them to go and sit on an objective or act as a small screen for some allied artillery. Saying that, after a Griffon general to run around with the Demigryphs and other cavalry, there's only 190 points spare for something like a Battlemage and endless spell. I could be tempted to throw in a Knight Azyros for even better shooting and leave some points spare for an additional command point.
If we didn't have to take the Outriders and Pistoliers, I'd be much happier!
