  1. Well I read a bit more about it, and yeah it looks like it is what it is. Regardless of a trading deal, as the UK is considered a "third country" now, import taxes are 21% for anything imported to the EU with a value higher than 22 Euro. That counts as far as I can see for any European country as we share the same VAT system (but I am not expert, so don't quote me on that), That's also the answer I got from Element. The trading deal probably has more benefits for companies importing to and from the UK, but for a simple customer of a UK webshop...this is what we have to deal with. Unfortunate as that makes the hobby 25% more expensive for people in the EU, and also bad new for the UK Re-Sellers as I don't know how much of their business is with people in the EU, but I bet it is considerable
  2. Oh don't get me wrong, it is not a complaint, I didn't do a thorough lookup myself upfront either. Just trying to sort out if this is what we can expect as of now. At least something to take into account next time I want to order something I have good experience with Resellers like Element Games, and they are normally quiet pro-active in these kind of things. And a lot of webshops like in the US or I.e. GW also mention it when you order from abroad, just as a friendly service to its customers, not because they are obliged to do that, I consider Element Games a customer friendly shop, and feel that they would give some info if they could, but I get the impression they simply don't know exactly either. And as Beastmaster says, you cannot blame them, the more I read about it, the more it becomes clear that is all relatively complicated, and no one really seem to know exactly as of now. It was a last minute deal so I guess it need some time before we can oversee all consequences.
  3. Yeah looks like things are not clear for anyone yet. Governmental site in the Netherlands states for webshops same rules applies as for i.e. USA and China. This means 21% tax for orders exceeding 22 Euro, and additional import fee for everything above 150 Euro. I find elsewhere also statements that UK and EU agreed upon not to charge the import fee though. Looks like I am better off with ordering straight from GW from now on, as long as they take the extra cost (as they announced)
  4. Important: this is not meant to be a political discussion, so not about what I or anyone else think about Brexit, if it is good or bad. I just want to know if anyone has the same experience and knows if the following is correct or not. If this how it goes from now, things change considerably for me and not just me of course. Last week I placed an order at an UK Re-Seller. Some paints, AoS books and miniatures. To my surprise I now get a request from UPS for import Rate to be payed of roughly 25%. . I didn't expect that to be honest, as I thought there was a deal. For what I know the only restriction for free-import is that the goods have to origin from the UK, maybe that is the reason (books are china?), but how can I know where. what is produced, or proof it is from the UK from my side? The reseller, nor any other reseller warns or give any info about possible import Fees. Also UPS doesn't give any details, just send me a mail that I can pay. No specification either. Does anyone have the same experience or know if this is correct or can it be an error by the sender or UPS. Support page of UPS is a not helpfull at all, already trying to find a way to send a simpel mail with my question but end up in all kinds of automations that doesn't allow me to write down my question. I ahve send a mail to the Re-Seller.
  5. Love this thread, great stuff has been posted so far! In general. as for many others in this world, the year 2020 is one to quickly forget about. Hobywise though, for me painting rather than gaming, it was actually a good year, I could even say a great year. This for more than one reason, just to name a few: 1. Hobby Corner This year I finally got myself a little hobbycorner in our livingroom. That may not seem worth mentioning, but for me it has been real gamechanger. Thing is that I live in an apartment with my wife and 9 yr old son. We are more than happy to live here, and no reason to move or to complain. It is just that it lacks that extra room, shed or even a broomcloset for daddy and his silly hobby. As a result, if I wanted to paint it always took me like 20-30 minutes minimum to get everything in place, and than a similar amount of time or more for cleaning up after I finished painting. For this reason there was no point in start painting if I had only 30 maybe 60 minutes spare time, as it would take more time to get ready alone. This put a serious limit on the time I was actually able to spend on painting. Killing for a slow painter with a busy life like me. Now I have my littlel corner with everything at hand, I do a lot more painting than ever before. 2. Painted more than ever I never painted as much as I did this year, this is still relative of course, as I see many people do in a month what I not even manage to do in a year, but still. I even almost finished a full 2000+ army, which will be real milestone, being the first army I finish painting in my entire life so far (note that I bought my first mini in early eighties.) It was just that the last three months were really busy at my other, less exiting job, otherwise I would have finished it by now. Participating in the monthly painting challenge, and the tale of the x online gamers thread in the TGA painting and Modeling forum was really helpfull, and gave just that bit extra motivation needed. so a big thanks. Just a small impression below: 3. Grey Pile of Shame Another milestone, also for the first time, I managed to actually paint more than I bought. In fact the only thing I bought (besides painting and basing supplies) was a nighthaunt warcry warband. I am an impulsive buyer, easily hyped, and can afford me this relatively expensive hobby. Most of the time this results in buying way more plastic than I can paint in years. But this year I kept the promise I made to myself not to buy anything before I finish at least most of an army. This of course also with a some help from GW, as I found nothing released last year really irresistible. Not that I wasn't tempted. I love the Mega Gargant, with all it small details and built options, and I am sure I will buy it at some point, just not now. Same for Warcry catacombs. Great set, almost bought it, but than realized that a good part of the box is also in the original starter, and once it was clear the set would be available for a longer period, and the warbands included would be sold seperately, I let this one pass too. I considered Shadow and Pain. I think it is a good deal and find the Dok part really great. The Slaanesh included, like the deamonettes are not my favorite though (other than some of the more recent models I must say) so I let this one pass too. This year will be different. I already ordered some Warcry warbands, and consider Slaanesh, if soulblight doesn't happen, that is. (or maybe both.)
  6. Happy new year everyone! WIP: First painting for this year, did some oil washes, the armour (on one side) and the base. Next is to mount Reikenor himself.
  7. WIP on Reikenor. Basecoating done. I let go the idea to finish it before end of the year, dont want to rush things. But shouldn't take to long from now. And then just Kurdoss, and five Reapers left to complete my tale.
  8. Looking great, really interesting concept. Never realized that the sylvaneth so much resembles creatures of the sea with the right conversions.
  9. Thank you very much!!, I cannot think of a bigger compliment than that, likewise the positive feedback and kind words, are definately that little extra push forward for me to break the many deadlocks I have in the process of painting an army. I was never so close finishing an army, and I am 100% sure that wouldn't be the case without TGA and this thread in particular.
  10. yes, same for me. Painting nighthaunt for over a year now, it is getting a bit boring tbh. Seeing so many inspirational painting here and elsewhere on the forum, I can hardly wait to try something new, with different, maybe a bit more original paintschemes. Warcry seems to be perfect to try several different factions, without having to complete full armies which would take me years. For the same reason I also collected a fair amount of Underworld warbands, but as you yyou say, as a game, I think I find warcry more interesting. How is the Catacomb box?. I resisted the temptation to buy it, mostly because a good part of the box seems to be similar to the original starterset. So I ordered the warbands separtely now. The rulebook is the same right? Must say, the idea of a bit of a dungeon crawler setup looks interesting to me, seeing your picture kinda makes me regret that I didn't buy it afterall.
  11. something completely different: the Crab Claw rumor engine from a while ago wasn't solved by any of the Slaangor's revealed right? Kinda expected it would be, but if it isn't Slaanesh, then we have still something fishy comming?!
  12. Finally I can report some progress again. The last theree months weren't the best hobby-wise. But with the cvhristmas holidays, I finaaly got some time again for my biggest hobbies which is my family and these little friends. Finally finsihed my blade revenants:
  13. good job, that makes you the first to finish your tale right? For me it will take at least one more month, but with the finish at sight, I start thinking also about the next thing. Funny that it probably looks much the same as yours. Couldn't resist the latest Warcry warbands, so ordered a bunch (the first plastic I purchase this year), but like you I also have an Ogre army waiting for me to be painted.
  14. Bit late for an answer, but for what is worth, I agree with the others. I think it looks great, and would make aperfect scenery that fits in with the models, but think that it is indeed a bit big for the base, it distacts to much, even blocking teh view on the amazing model.
  15. You have such a distinctive style of painting and color scheme. Bet from 100 photo's I would easily pick out yours. You got a big fan here
  16. Love it!! All these shades of blue of feathers and fur, and it looks so soft and furry...almost like a plush toy. make me wanna touch it ;). How did you manage to get that effect?
  17. Oh my, these battleboxes are gonna make it hard for me to keep the promise i made to myself not to buy new stuff before i finish at least most of my backlog. The ogre i can resist, basically because all thats in there I already have (waiting for a paintjob) but the Tzeentch box is really tempting,it holds all the models I like (and none of the ones I dislike)....Gitz looking good too.
  18. Must admit, I am always feel a bit jealous when people do big conversions and use an very original pallet and actually make it work. Personally I am already happy if I manage to get somewhat close to what GW does withouth snapping of to many vital parts of the model. Really love how Hathor and Vishnu come together here, and it is just a start, looking forward on how you proceed with it. Intrigued. Also just saw your mountain spirit in the other thread...Awesome....it has exactly the right mountain/volcano vibe over it, the green/yellow works perfectly with the red/orange, like nature itself. Best I have seen so far! I wasn't really sold by this model, but this completely changed my mind.
  19. Welcome to the club We all play this by our own rules I think, no rush at all. In fact if you ask me no one actually sticked to the original 4 months set to begin with unless I missed someone actually finished his/her army last month. Personally I just find that little extra motivation from this...like i.e. the last two months I had basically no time at all and in the past that could have easily led to a long period of inactivity, sometimes years. Now at least still make some progress, and finishing an army (which I never did in my entire life), became a realistic goal. And man, what do I love that paint scheme on your aelves, looks very detailed as well.
  20. That looks absolutely great, both the idea as the execution , might try something similar for the Frost Sabers, if I ever get to finish My Maw Tribe Army after the Nighthaunt.
  21. Like September, not much time for me to paint. Managed to get my Hexwraiths done though. Should have a bit more time the next few months...so aim is now to complete this year with Kurdoss, Reikenor and another unit of Reapers to go. Think I can do that, if nothing unexpected happens. While painting I found out I actually had one the scythes assembled the other way around. I found it way to fragile to try to correct it, so decided to call it my first conversion ever (not counting the endless times things snapped of)
  22. Having another look at that teaser. Cant it be a birdhouse? And what is assumed to be candles might be smaller birds?, seems to be one to on the left of the “house” too
  23. My favorite game of guessing and speculation begins. I would say a zombie too. The somewhat bend posture, the way the hand/ arm is a bit curved has a strong dead vibe to me, much like the crypt stealers for BB. Could be a a scarecrow too indeed, the point where the pole comes from the body, there is something that can be straw, like we see with the crypt-stealers. No clue what is on it back though. given the weird stuff carried by various models released the last few years (gallows, complete sacrophags etc) it can be anything.
