They are a small, pretty low profile unit that's easy to hide (just 6 small models). They have 18 wounds and automatically regenerate d3 a turn as long as the surgeon is alive.Β  So pretty solid for holding an objective somewhere close to your friendly territory.

Maybe I have been out of the AoS loop for too long. However until today I always thought that the entire Freeguild Command Corps had only 3 Wounds...... . πŸ˜„
But then there has never been a Unit (apart from the Gobbapalooza) that had this weird setup of diverse characters. As far as I know.Β

Glad to be back btw. I am looking forward to all your conversions.

  2. I am overall happy and pretty excited, because I like the overall rules of 3rd Edition, especially the Core Battalions.Β
Whatever the thematic flavor of "new City Humans" in AoS might be - I am ready for it! 😁
If GW updates the Freeguild Soldiers and the Siege Weapons (new Great Cannon please) it would already be an absolute win for me. :)
@Doko About behemoths: Isn't the Freeguild General on Griffin pretty durable and punchy? But I never played with Behemoths so I know nothing. πŸ˜…

  3. I just hope that the rumoured overhaul of Cities of Sigmar in 2022  (see--> Rumour Thread p. 2698) brings us new Freeguild Troops and Leader Models with proportions that will match the Witch Hunters. Fingers crossed! 🀞
@Barbarian Borelord Can you post a side by side comparison with the Freeguild Models please? πŸ˜ƒ

Also I am not sure if Doralia's Bolts would inflict double damage against Lumineth Units (because the Unit Leader is a Wizard) or if this is kind of a blind spot in the ruels right now.

  4. I got reminded of the fact that some 4chan - rumour predicted "Skeleton Ogor Infantry" before OBR were revealed. It's always fun to see what becomes reality and what is wishlisting. But these snippets are exciting nonetheless. The Chaos Duardin super Cannon sounds very fitting for AoS style Mayhem. Bring it on! πŸ˜€

I knew this would be coming from a Lumineth player

It is because of comments like this that I have stopped collecting the Army....
All this whining about Lumineth Players makes me want to quit honestly.Β
Anyway the new edition can't come soon enough so people can find something else to complain about.

  6. How do you all plan to build your Ven Denst Duo? 2 Pistols? Sword and Torch? Hat or no hat? 😁
I think I'll go for aimed Pistol and Torch on Galen. As for Doralia: the Hat is so iconic but I like the Hairstyle too and sometimes it fits better to aim for more individuality. But then the hat adds a certain individuality too ... πŸ˜‚

Interestingly they both have the Witch Hunter keyword, while Jelsen Darrock does not have it. Maybe because Jelsen was kicked out of the Order of Azyr? Maybe it's an oversight? Maybe it is a hint at "Witch Hunters - The Army" ....Β πŸ€ͺ

    I can.

    Lawsuit.

That is all really interesting. Maybe in a few decades (probably more) there will be some specialized Historian who can dig in the archives about that. But that is a very convincing writeup @Sleboda and I tend to believe it as well.

Do you guys have any Literature recommendation(s) about similar cases?Β

Well this is some peak garbage profile for an elite unit. I would at least expect a better Rend on charge IN ADDITION (I guess we got a wrong writer here heh)Β to +1 damage.Β Β

1 inch range on Lances??? I play Evocators on dracolines and the 2 inch range on their grandstave is clutch.Β

I am not a native speaker but what kind of sentence is: "Blood knights are vampires obsessed with battle, and their codes of chivalric honour are warped indeed." ??Β  (followed by the sentence that doesn't describe anything that warped in their behaviour)Β

From a power level perspective from just these rules: 3/10

From a lore perspective: 1/10 hire somebody else for the lore bits.Β

Can you please try and be a bit more reasonable with your critique or at least word your replies in a tone that is less insulting? I know TGA as a place where it does not usually boils down to this. :/

Sometimes the rumor engines are poorly done because they show a portion of an upcoming model that has nothing to do with the majority of the figure. The lizard/gecko rumor engine image on the base of Kragnos was impossible to decipher, and regardless of how much speculation we can muster, there was no possible way we could of guessed it would belong to him.Β

Yeah totally agree. Remember the Plume Rumor engine that was unveiled like a week before the Lumineth Reveal? I think this might be a similar situation that this rumor engine with the Head is not far off.
The Plume was not meant as a bad example, however since then I am "sceptical" about the rumor engines, because of the timeframes they can be associated with (1week to over a year) - but they are fun.Β πŸ™‚

Meant to respond to this earlier. Sorry to hear that you've lost interest in Lumineth. What's changed your mind on them? Also, are you thinking of any other armies at the moment?

There's a few more Aelven factions out there that might grab your attention πŸ™‚!

Thanks for your reply, it means a lot. πŸ˜ƒ
If anyone is interested here is my Ted Talk: (not a native speaker so it is a bit rugged in the grammar departement)
(This is not a rant (sorry if it sounds that way at times) - I just want to understand my demotivation myself)

It was a combination of Aesthetics and the Rules and the Lore that drove me off the Lumineth route. It was always an on and off for me since the first LRL release. I was not that fond of the Spirits and Aelementiri or all of the hero Models sadly. The basic troops however I really felt attached to and tried many paint schemes - but none really had the right vibe to me.

I guess that I am very picky but I think the heart of the Issue is that the Lumineth always felt a little "off" to me - at first I didn't want to admit it though.Β πŸ˜… The Sentinels for instance are beautiful Models, the connection with the animal theme through the Hawk is really creative and unique or that the Unit Champions all feel like small important characters that can change the tide of battle.

The Lord Regent is a perfect example of my perception of the Lumineth: A great Aelf Model with fitting rules and a heroic demeanour with a flurry of attacks - powerful yet vulnerable. Yet I detested the Mount and wanted to change it to a Horse immediately. This apllies to the whole faction: Even in the Models I did like there were design descicions were I always found something to complain about.

For example the principle of a Banner-bearer Hero really appeals to me but then the Banner is obscenely huge. And I didn't want to convert and change all the elements I didn't like, the enthusiam wasn't there anymore. :/ Then there always had been models I found aesthetically really unpleasing: The Spirit of the Mountain for example is simply a design I cant wrap my head around.Β

Also, rules wise there were a few things I didn't like. For instance how the Aetherquartz works, always seemed like a mechanic that I personally didn't enjoy both from a rules and narrative point of view. The Bladelord Rules were a total diappointment for me sadly. Or that Ymetrica is the Nation with all the special Characters did not sit well and put me off in the long run.

Additionally some rules felt inexplicably wrong, like printing errors. Why does the calligrave Blade have 3" reach? Why does the Ballista move 6" with 2 Aelves carrying it? Why does the Loreseeker have 6 Wounds instead of 5?

This rules dissonance really selaed the deal that it wasn't the right army.

Maybe also the Nail on the coffin was this: All the talk about "NPE" when the second wave hit really demoralized me :( It got to a point were I just gave up and put my Models into a box and closed them away.

    Β

In the end I have moved away from Aelves again. But I don't know what I really want - there are few factions that interest me. New Free Peoples and Sigmar-oriented Humans in general would be really cool. I also like Beasts of Chaos (I fear that they might be discontinued in 2 or 3 years and don't want to collect them now) in General but beyond that, I guess there is not much else. πŸ˜‚

  11. Haha my favorite part about the speculating is all this rumours thrown into a melting pot. When Sons of Behemat and Lumineth were not out yet, someone on Warhammer Weekly suggested: "Giant Samurai-Angel Aelves from Hysh" I still smile about that from time to time - keep the creativity going! 😁

And I believe the ones in Azyr all came from the hidden enclave that survived the Old World.

Do you mean this hidden enclave that Lileath created for Araloth and their daughter? (I have never read the End Times books so I could be wrong)

    Great Write-up. :)
This Origin Stories frustrated me from the beginning and it is a bit of a shame that it is not written out more clearly. Still so many people are confused about which Aelves are which and I think this also plays a part in how Aelves get a bad reputation in the community.
However: What really needs to be explored by the lorewriters:
How are the relations between all these Aelves now in AoS? It was always an important and fun part of the Aelven Trope that group X considers itself better than group Y.

Ooo, that sounds cool. What are their bonuses again? From the look of it they’re gold and red which looks pretty boss too.

3 Vanari or Scinari Units can make a normal move (not run) after every Army has completed the set up. And they can run and charge with a command ability.
In the Sprues and Brews Video it appears that they have green inner robes. (I am testing new colurs currently.) πŸ˜„
Its funny as they kind of look like Phil Kelly's Scheme πŸ˜…
