  1. It is super easy for them to change the point values and warscroll of the bonegrinder to make sense. I bet 300-400 points is about right for the new model.
  2. Don't forget price creep. Katakros is pretty small, only 1 sprue (which includes a base) and is $110 which I believe makes him the most expensive piece of plastic in the range (not counting little character sprues) I would be very suprised if this was less than $150. I only hope that they designed this with the ability to intermix with future sprues/kits. a whole army of the same pose is not fun. (yes they bend at the elbow and twist a little at the waist maybe)
  3. Okay, first of all, I agree that this preview was amazing. I have never played bloodbowl but now I have to get the halfling and snotling team and build a field and everything just to display. The 40k Minis are great, The primaris spindle drones are... expected, and the 40k minis are awesome. And I agree that the giant kit is awesome but... What is everyone talking about?? I think you guys are being fooled by the ol' rotate the model 30 degrees trick. There is only 1 set of legs, and the pose is fixed. The shin bit is built in, all 3 models have the same thing just painted different color. There is 1 optional sandal bit you can put on each foot. The upper torso is the same on all the models, INCLUDING the shoulder. Meaning the upper arms are always at the same angle in relation to the torso, you only get variety at the elbows. Different abdomen bits allow for slightly different poses of upper torso to legs, but most of what people are seeing is just camera trickery. As someone who enjoys building/painting/collecting more than playing, although I was excited about this faction, I can't get more than 1 of these kits. I know organic creatures is a little harder to allow posing than marines and imperial knights, but I Wish GW would have worked a little harder to give us more variety. In the photo, i have circled in green the body parts that are the same on all giants.. as you can see, it's most of the giant (which makes sense, because they only decided to develop one kit, they aren't gonna give a ton of extra plastic (GW very stingy with plastic these days thanks to production bottlenecks)
  4. I really wish they told us BEFORE this preview that they had decided to split the adepticon previews into even more pieces and that today's preview would only get us about halfway through the planned adepticon previews. Was kind of lame to get the news after excitedly waiting for what we were told was going to be the "biggest Warhammer preview ever" that "we'll be back in 2 weeks with the rest!"
  5. Yes, I think Zombies will go away with LoN. Skeletons I could see as being put into a new Vampire / Necromancer faction just because so many more people have those minis, but maybe they won't be a "main"/advertised unit in that faction, or maybe they'll get a new aosified kit. >>There’s just so many miniatures right now linked to this uneasy balance... Honestly not that many good/modern ones. I know it hurts to hear that if it's the stuff in your collection, but they can't support an infinitely growing model range, as new stuff comes, old stuff must go. Look to Aelves / Free Cities / Greenskinz for the type of cuts you can expect to come soon for death. I think LoN is going to exist in AoS 3.0 with no new stuff, maybe not even a battletome (GHB updates to the current tome, like Seraphon had?). Just to hold over while they salvage the rest of the stuff they want to salvage (this does not include zombies).
  6. Chaos is in a relatively good spot. Everyone has a home. Skaven needs new models pretty badly and so do a few other armies, But there aren't really any factions out there in the lore that aren't represented in the game and there are no models really homeless, and there are no big soupy tomes like LoN or Freecities. Death on the other hand, you can really easily see what they are doing. They threw everything (besides FEC) into LoN. Then they did Nighthaunt, pulling out anything relevant. Then they did Bonereapers, again pulling out anything relevant. Now there's only a few good plastic kits not in one of those 3 specialized armies (ghouls, ghosts, bone constructs/fancy skeletons), and they are pretty much all Vampires/Necromancers. Besides miniatures, this is also what is really missing from the game if you look at the lore. So, this is why most people suspect a vampire army coming. Not necessarily imminently, but maybe in 2-3 years. Legions of Nagash was a stop gap, but will eventually go away (too hard to balance the game with this giant book, especially since many units are also in other books) I would say likelyhood of release of speculated armies: Sons of Behemat > Malerion Aelves > Vampires > Grotbag Skuttlers. I don't think that is necessarily the order we would see them in, but the likelyhood that we will see them at all over the next 2-3 years.
  7. Thats the imperial knight model, and it was very very successful. Started out as just a 1 kit army. That same kit was the foundation for 2 other kit variants for 7 different units..then they added a smaller model (which we already have with the current gargant!) And eventually added 2 more new kits (with a common sprue). The tricky thing is that those are robots.. it's fairly easy to pose them in a lot of different ways. For an organic crearure, how do you enable different poses without a lot of wasted bits? GW has already moved almost completely away from posability with most of their range, which has caused me to turn to a "only 1 of each kit" rule (which means my armies are not very good!) Because especially for gargants, I will not pay for or field a force where 2 Giants have the same pose.
  8. annnnnd Amazon is now sold out of plastic Dinosaurs for reasons that few understand.
  9. Not really a good time for Nurgle jokes bro!
  10. 2" helps a ton. Why dont you just put in some work.. put some models on the table and give us some numbers
  11. It completely depends on how much you value your time, and how you plan to sell the models. You can expect that the ebay value of all these models will go down due to other people parting out boxes. For example, today 3x terradon riders are $51 USD on ebay, but I expect that will go down to like $30 over time. Ebay/Paypal take ~13%, shipping costs ~$4 if you're thrifty and ship in an envelope. The hero will be sold off by anyone that gets more than 1 box, or anyone that already had that hero when they bought the box. 12 skinks is not worth your time. You're talking $14.88 retail worth of skinks, lower the price to sell on ebay, fees, shipping. You'll make like $5 If you are making your purchase next week and don't mind the work, yes buy the box and try and dump the rest quickly (perhaps even all together) because all of this stuff is low/out of stock individually, including the Bastilladon you want. In a month or two, I don't think it will be worth it.
  12. You're limited when the model must be ETB and all models must fit on 2 hero sized sprues.
  13. Welp. the passage of time has not dulled my disgust for that Teclis model. That face! That pose! Those horn tassels! I wonder if the painting team drew straws to determine who had to paint it. I hope it gets really good rules though and we see a lot of brilliant conversions.
  14. What would make you ask? It's still for sale. . It is still legal because it still has points and the seraphon keyword. GW battletomes do not touch on forgeworld models. The warscroll or points probably need updating but I really doubt it is going anywhere .It'd be a big slap in the face Just keep it on the slightly unplayable side and people will be happy.
  15. Not that simple. GW has been production bottlenecked for years. Producing one thing means not producing something else. Think about this: A mangler squigs kit is 1 big sprue of plastic, MSRP $80 A stegadon is 2 big sprue of plastic, MSRP $60. GW can produce X sprues per day. If you're low/out of stock on both, which do you produce during a fixed time period? 1000 stegadons or 2000 mangler squigs (I'm not sure how these machines / their production works, but you get the idea). Stegadon is actually pretty great value based on the number of sprues, compared to the last several years of GW releases. It's less efficient for them to produce, and as a public company they have an obligation to their shareholders to maximize profits. They'll get to it when they get to it. Skaven stuff was out of stock for months when that tome released.
  16. Most SC boxes are similar. And both the Bastiladon and Stegadon can be built multiple ways. There are a few things to consider when trying to figure out non-nefarious reasons GW would chose one kit over the other. Perhaps the Bastilladon kit is considered slightly easier to build, or fewer options which makes it less confusing (Stegadon kit will likely have 4 warscrolls now). Or perhaps its the big sprue / half sprue thing. You also have to keep in mind that "well the Sylvaneth SC has" argument is not really very good, because in the last 4-5 years the business strategies could have changed. It is better to compare recent releases.
  17. Between the Scraplauncher and Stonehorn kits, which one is in the SC box? πŸ˜ƒ I did not think about the fact that Stegadon uses "full" size sprue. It's a good point, and you are right is probably a big consideration as to why one is webstore only and one isn't (only so much shelf space for tall boxes). However, I'd argue that this is one reason Stegadon should be in the SC box, because Bastiladon is already available from retailers! Stegadon is also 33% more sprue than Bastiladon, so this may also be a factor. Anyway, Stegadon is already out of stock in both the UK and US, for who knows how long. so I'm glad I ordered my 1 new kit this morning!
  18. It's a really fun kit to magnetize. I magnetized my first for all possibilities (the skinks have pegs on the bottom of their feet instead of magnets) I am looking forward to my second one though just being able to pick 1 build and focus on painting it as well as i can. Not to worried about which one to pick. I'll just get a third one later=P.
  19. Well, we know how many points the list is... 1970. and in addition to 7 Stegadons it has a Bastilladon (which is currently more points than a Stegadon). So a Stegadon is probably ~200-240, depending on loadout, with the Chief probably costing more, who knows about EoTG. 200 points for $60usd is not terrible. It's not Gotrek or Nagash levels of points/$ value, but it's not as bad as witch aelves! Plus it's a great kit that is super intricate. I hope a 1000pt list is viable so I can start on a second Stegadon. I suspect it's no coincidence that between 2 very similar sized/priced kits Stegadon/Bastilladon, ONE was chosen for battleline, and the OTHER was chosen for the start collecting box. πŸ˜’
  20. In Ogre Mawtribes, each model counts for multiple when it comes to objectives, with Stonehorns counting for 10 models. It is rumoured that Sons of Behemat will be able to manipulate/"destroy" objectives. GHB 2020 is right around the corner, Perhaps we will see a paradigm shift. We already have several battleplans that do not use the default "most models wins" mode. I think the necessity of hordes to control objectives is one of the main critiques of the current AoS system. It is definitely one of my least favorite things about it. AoS compared to WFHB has many giant centerpiece miniatures. And even the infantry are dynamically posed and don't crowd together well. Plus, many people don't like painting hordes. I for one hope that the default core rules for objectives soon switches away from "most models in 6 inches" and they find some way to do objectives that does not favor certain styles of list.
  21. After giving up hope on new models, My plan was to unload my many many unpainted Seraphon, and work on other projects over the next few years awaiting new models. Now they rope me back in! The rub is that Stegadons are $60 and web store only, and they were already super rare on ebay, so it's quite a commitment to a single list style. But man it sounds awesome.
  22. Pretty sure Ossiarch is your "Skeleton" faction (even though they are actually bone constructs). If you go back 2 years to when Legions of Nagash book came out, comprised of all WHFB miniatures, and push play, you can pretty clearly see where things are going: Flesh Eaters Courts (ghouls) - Done before LoN actually. Takes any of the existing good plastic kits that would fit. Nighthaunt (ghosts) - Pull all relevant models from LoN. Ossiarch Bonereapers (skeletons) - PUll all relevant models from LoN Looking at what's left. It seems there is room for a Vampire and/or Necromancer based faction. Perhaps Existing Skeleton Warrior / Grave Guard kits can be fodder for that faction, but they're definitely gonna try to ramp up the AoS-ity of such a faction. I suspect if they do keep Skeletons around they're gonna change their name, and eventually give them a different look. The real dream though is vampire pirates...
  23. 2.0 is done. All the battletomes you listed are "2.0" or "2.0 ready" The next round of battletomes will be 3.0. or "3.0 ready". Until then we'll just see rules updates in FAQ, Generals Handbook, and other supplements.
  24. The existing Start Collecting : Seraphon is not going anywhere. That is exactly why the new one is named "Start Collecting: Skinks". Similar to how the new Nurgle Rotbringers SC box did not replace Nurgle Daemons. Not that they can do anything about the fact that the sprue is an odd number of models, but it's not a big deal to them because SC boxes are not designed for existing, matched play players, or existing collectors of an army. They are designed for people new to the hobby, or people who just want to start or want a few models for an army. After you get that first taste, they want you to buy full price kits...
  25. Wouldn't be super suprising from the perspective that it is all new models. (All kits from 2019) while the seraphon box has models that are 20 years old. But on the flip side, it's the least amount of plastic sprues too. Discount off retail is certainly not the only consideration. For each army there are only certain units that are really up for considering, any they may not add up to a certain %. .
