  1. Lol.. they get their rumors from here, usually (and other places), but seems like they don't follow daily. They posted about sons of behemat on a shipping mainfest 3 weeks after I discovered it (posted on this thread...) If you follow this thread, i don't think you'll ever see anything "new" there rumor/news wise.
  2. No, there is a difference between comparing something, and pointing out similarities, than saying "these things are equal." Launch boxes, starter sets, start collecting sets, battleboxes, they all have something in common: They are lower margin product. GW has a target gross margin, which for them is essentially "Dollars per sprue".(really more complicated than that factoring in hobby supplies, books, etc) All of the aforementioned products have a "dollars per sprue" lower than their target gross margin, so they have to be careful that they don't productize in such a way that these products are all you need. They need the average hobbies to spend most of their model dollars on higher margin product. So while there are obviously examples, BCR, where you can build a whole, competitive army out of discount boxes, that is not GW's business model, and it would be "not smart" of you to argue against that.
  3. You need a preview of the.... preview? They've already said when it would be, but they typically don't really spoil anything ahead of time. But then again, we know quite well what to expect.
  4. That's definitely what is happening. I read or heard somewhere that GW confirmed this maybe in some article or stream or something but I haven't seen it first hand. Each year the GHB will focus on a different realm. I suspect next year is Ulgu (+ Malerion) and the year after is Azyr invasion (or perhaps Chamon but haven't seen/heard any rumors to suggest that). Then we're at AOS 4.0 (Maybe the bad guys destroy Azyr so we don't have to put up with another SCE box set) >>justifying the continued existence of the GHB: You are not just buying it for the new points They already split the rules and points into separate books so that they can release them separately.
  5. You do not know how many they made, how many they sold, how many they wanted to have sold by now, so i think the statement "it's apparently selling how they wanted" has no merit. Keep in mind the goal of this product, as a loss leader to promote the new edition. Look at all of the things out of stock on the web store, that are more profitable for them to have made instead. It also makes an awkward situation for the smaller starter sets that they've already made (months ago) and are ready to hit stores right after this. They do not want it on shelves months from now, at that point its cutting into sales of higher margin product, so it would mean that they made too many. Maybe they've sold 80-90% and it'll clear out soon. Maybe they've sold 40% and it's a was a relative flop. Only time will tell.
  6. Ok so Mouth of Mork is Kruelboyz Centerpiece (or at least a character, confirmed by whitefang above). designed in CAD alongside existing Gordrakk sculpt so they can power-rangers together into the avatar of Gorkamorka...
  7. Was discussed a couple of days ago in this thread (if you click the box for broken realms fiction on email subscriptions, you get these a couple of days in advance)
  8. But A string of 18 ogors is not what GW wants... ifs goofy and does not look great on the tabletop either I think a much more simple, elegant fix for Ogors (and other 40mm models, like Blightkings) is to give them a 2" attack range. You can attack 2 deep with 40mm base if you have 2" attacks. And honestly, if a grot can reach 2" with a spear, an ogor can reach 2" with a club. Go ahead and get your caliper and measure those arms and weapons! 32mm would still be in an odd spot.
  9. This is a super over-exaggeration, at least based on what we know today They really aren't taking anything major away and putting it behind paywall.... let's recap: Animation - Brand new stuff. Ok sure they hired Astartes guy, but honestly it's their IP, and his creation was violating their rights, so I'd say he got a good deal. "Vault" - Access to old publications included. New publications still sold as normal not behind paywall. "Exclusive miniature" - How many "event exclusive, store birthday, only for sale on warhammer.com for 5 minutes at 3am" minis are there already? I suspect these will be on ebay for reasonable enough prices... "Apps" - In USD anyway, this is the same price i already was paying for 40k app. I get that and the new AoS app (surely another $5 a month) included?? this alone makes it worth it. "Exclusive shows" - This one probably irks me the most. "sorry Darren you have to shut down your youtube channel that you really enjoyed and was great value to the hobby, so that we can put a similar thing behind a paywall". but a lot of this is going to be new content they weren't already doing.
  10. Battletome != wave. I personally think a Nurgle wave is unneeded and unlikely, and would dislike to see it at the expense of other armies (even though it's my largest faction). 1. Nurgle got one of the last WHFB waves (Glottkin, Maggoth Lord, Blightkings, Gutrot Spume, Harbinger, Lord of Plagues) 2. Nurgle got another big wave in 2018 (GUO, Spoilpox, Sloppity, Horticulus, Beast of Nurgle, Pusgoyle Blightlords, lord of blights 3. the rest of the army is only from 2012(drones, plaguebearers, nurglings, etc). 10 years is not a very long time, if you look at some of the kits the other armies are lugging around. So... I don't think nurgle is getting touched for a while, but could be wrong. They are getting a book now because they did not get one in AoS 2.0. All of the other rumored early battletomes are much more deserving of a model wave...
  11. I heard somewhere that the core book or maybe some artidcle talks about how during 3.0 we will go to a different realm each year. First up is Ghur. This one is obvious but also looking at GHB2021 you can tell it's all about Ghur. So, assuming we get 3 years out of this edition, what are the other two? The two armies we know are coming are Dark Elves from Ulgu and Chaos Dwarves (or Destruction dwarves?!?). So it seems like one year will be Ulgu, which is cool, haven't been there yet. Maybe DoK gets some new units. If the 4 chan rumor above has anything to it, the third is Azyr. Also a place we haven't really been much. 2021: Ghur. Kruelboyz, Dawnbringer Crusade 2022(interlude): Ulgu: Malerion's Aleves (+ more units for DOK!?) 2023(finale): Azyr invasion: Chaos Dwarves. What are your theories?
  12. No. Since its a limited run and they will sell every copy of it, they didn't directly loose anything. You gave up getting something you wanted because you were a bit sore about the idea of waiting 10 minutes to buy it? And guess what.. you didn't have to. You can literally buy it right now no wait. Since your "sticking it to em" argument falls a bit flat, might as well pick it up.
  13. They always say that... "Indomitus is limited, but, in expectation of high demand, we’ve made absolutely loads of boxes."
  14. The launch box is not an example of artificial scarcity, because : A. It is a limited promotional SKU, and will not be produced again B. The models will be evergreen. C. The price is lower than their product normally is What is limited is this price. They decide how many they want to sell at this deep discount, as a promotion, and then later release the models at normal price. better example of artificial scarcity would be: "We are only selling 100 Kragnos kits a year, for $500 each From a shareholder perspective, they should certainly not sell things year round at this $/sprue. Why would they, when they can obviously charge more? And this is not comparable to Soul Wars/Dark Imperium, they obviously have moved to a different model of having a limited launch box and then releasing a starter set (and the individual kits) later.
  15. Why do you think its artificial scarcity? Do you think GW has fun warehousing their hundreds of SKUs in warehouses around the world? I expect that they are getting them out as fast as possible, considering their plastic production has been bottlenecked for years and they are having to export in the middle of a global pandemic AND Brexit. Why does it seem like they made two runs? Who knows. These things have huge lead times. Maybe they realized their original order was not big enough. Maybe they had to swap production to something else. They're not doing it to ****** you off I promise. And no, the 50 review copies they sent out are not the reason you aren't getting one. That's called very effective advertising cost. They didn't say "We think we'll sell 10,000 of these. so we'll make 10,000. Oh lets give away 50 of those". it's "Let's make 10,050 because this is way cheaper than google ads..."
  16. Yes! Finally I can play warhammer with a single sculpt! (God they really need some more mega-gargant kits.. I just am too much of a hobbiest to paint the same $200 kit multiple times)
  17. It's not an issue of 3d printing or green stuff... If I sculpt something with green stuff, then make a mold and cast more copies in green stuff and sell it on my website, those parts are also not allowed for conversion. Conversely if you design your own digital 3d parts, print them, and use them, that's fine. The fundamental question is: are you giving someone other than GW money for this hobby?
  18. Warscrolls trump core rules. The models still have the key word for their grand alliance. Kragnos still can be taken in any army where the faction is "destruction" In AoS 2.0, you pick an Allegiance for your army. It could be a Grand Alliance or a Faction. In AoS 3.0, the term "Grand Alliance" is not used. Your army does not have an "Allegiance", it just must have "Factions", You must choose a single faction (plus allies) to use Allegiance abilities. Probably, the GHB will say that the "Factions" must be allies or from the same Grand Alliance or something. But, i don't suspect there will be "Grand Alliance" allegiance abilities anymore, since there's nothing in the core rules to define a Grand Alliance army.
  19. You need to pick "factions" not singular "faction". You can pick multiple factions. 25.8 talks about allies. 27 says if you choose from a single faction, you can use allegiance abilities (can still do 1 in 4 units as allies). I agree that the concept of "Grand Alliances" seems dead except for grouping things on the webstore.
  20. Probably the terrain piece is a webstore only expensive piece of terrain, and the endless spells sprues may get repackaged with the malign sorcery ones, or maybe they'll mix em up and put them in some other groupings? (1 or 2 sprues per kit). I imagine they dont want to keep printing that outdated malign sorcery book. They do seem to be digging into endless spells as "here to stay" so I'm sure they've got plans on how to best profit off of these sprues of chinese plastic
  21. this comment was liked by Whitefang. So seems like you're not wrong!
  22. I'm sure the answer is on one of those pages in that book. Come on man don't be a tease (whichever one of you it is). Just dump the whole book!
  23. Not so sure. I like that they made the new sculpts for the start collecting box but it was not a clear indication that its part of a larger release. The existing kits are a bit old, but at least plastic. Half of skaven is still metal. Plus skaven is a lot more popular thematically than STD. With all the warcry stuff the unaffiliated Chaos stuff is just in a weird spot.
  24. Tzeentch was 4 years ago right? 2015 - Khorne Mortals 2016 - Tzeench Mortals 2017 - Nurgle Mortals 2020 - Slaneesh Mortals Tzeentch also had the silver tower minis which I feel like a lot of those wound up in circulation. All the Chaos gods now have modern mortals, I personally think they'll focus on other stuff except for maybe an odd hero here and there, and won't revisit these for 5+ years. Skaven is definitely the next Chaos thing to get updated.
  25. Surprised such a small/weak release after months of no releases. Was hoping they already had some stuff in the channels and could double up on some releases
