  1. Sadly Glaurung is right. I mean for casual play they are not instantly killed or useless, but you’re going to compete against „all the cheese“ so you might need do bring „all the bread“ to soak up... the 3 flayers from the gkotg can protect his flank and with the garland even get things done. at least up the horrors to 9, while the tg with flayers goes distraction carnifex... and of course have fun and best of luck!!!

  3. If always like my courtier general with dark wizardry... suggest as fluttershy to kick one king for another infernal. King on dragon summons vargheist, so you have 3x6d6 regain chances for 5+ (~6). not sure if the list/summoning approach from the royal family list is viable/legal. Royal family summons one king ONCE per game. So the max for summoning is 2 kings and 2 vargheist/courtiers for 2CP. Cool, but no autowin really need to test the deadwatch I start with a list, but always end up playing sth. else 2xinfernal, gkozd, Gk, 3x6 flayer +dw
  4. Yes, standard internet slur: git gud... boi... the new rule „look out sir“ protects with -1 to hit, so keep them near your units. Since FEC suffers from stupid deathless minion rule (your minions need to be WHOLLY within 6“), you‘re forced to spread out your heros if you want to cover everything. like @Fluttershy said „destraction carnifex“ your big heros. Get a king on dragon, summon in 2 varghulf and then his usefulness is almost spend... and even more wisdom from fluttershy: redundancy... one ghast has 4 wounds with a 5+ save, don’t even try to trigger his ability, which is cool, but then he is dead and your army suffers greatly. So bring a handful. I personally think of my army in two brackets, speedbumps and objective holders. How do I claim objectives, hold them and who can punch my opponent in the face or keep him busy till I won ? and if a summoned suicide squat on the other side of the table keeps him busy or locks him in combat, distracts him from focusing on important stuff like claiming VP, their death was not in vain. Oh, last important advice... if you play against gunlines, your opponent might not be interested in scenery, especially not buildings or lush forests (which prevent LoS now iirc). So thank him for his pre-set up fields of desolation and start rolling for scenery.

What a sad bunch XD and here so thought we were the ones getting destroyed all the times... but I remember a Stormcast player almost ragequitting after I told him that my GkoTg had a 4+, then with the spell a 5++ and with rotn another 5++... those were times the sylvaneth player just smiled and turned the kurnoth hunter in my direction, two rounds of shooting later he was gone without touching a foe. FEC got better with the summoning, but not really crazy and the patrol is 180 points, of naked crazy dudes... without our supporting heros we‘re just roasted

  7. Yes, I second that. And claiming RAW is just something „that guy“ would do... I am very sad about that 3“ from enemy thing. Those were some of the most beautiful „surprise“ moments I brought to my opponents XD
  8. How is that different from Arkhans CA?! Units within distance X receive bonus Y... And here is a first take on a neffi bravery bomb list... don’t try this against nurgle Puppies for screening, Black knights for fast attack and -1 bravery, the morghast for another -1 where you want to put the pressure on, necromancer for another bravery debuff and then terrorgheist to kill... the double gheists to take pressure off neffi and give a good target saturation. Just an instant list, so still room to wiggle and juggle.
  9. Depends also on the terrain and the scenario set-up... your VLoZD with pinions moves 14“+5“ befor charging ~7“ that brings him into turn 1 charge distance. If that is tactical sound movement is decided by the resulting countercharge XD and the melee outcome. And maybe a buffed up sacrificial lamb is exactly what you need, to tie your opponent down and secure objectives with your footslogging army. Can’t really compete against turn 2 run&charge stupidity from the fishmongers. If you really struggle with overflight rights violations...2x60 zombies in Starformation with corpsecart is a stiff middle finger against all types of deepstrike (stormfiends). Position your countercharge inside, open up with split unit cohesion rule and let the Soundsystem blast „the trooper“ from Maiden
  10. ? a spell list for FEC?!? Is it x-mas yet? I fear that all the other armies without a book should get some love f.e. poor rats or tomb kings

Well, there are sweetspots and things to consider, but that is just too much to consider to have just one cool checklist. opponents movement is just too versatile to shut down completely especially with a possible double turn. for a simple denial of flyover you can just position your elite 2-3“ behind the screen and the enemies unit will have to cross the screen and elite. 12“ on a charge move flys them everywhere of course...
  12. Black Hunger fits in every list... Works like a charm on 9 horrors/flayers or even on 30 ghouls...

  14. And then you read about a combo, want to try it out and suddenly you’re in a hot debate about the rules and struggle through different possible translations. The Leo/Google dictionary only works to a certain degree...

Sooo if he wants to play the one hat to end all hats ... 1k: Nagash, 5/5/5 Wolves 980... 1,5k: Nagash, 10 wolves, 2x2harbringer, vampirelord 2k: Nagash, 5/5/5 wolves, 4harbringer, vampirelord, necromancer, 40 Skellis...1950 not overly competitive if your opponent is able to deal with big N... but fun and all the other models have their uses in a variety of different lists. Things to write on wishlists: vamp-lord on dragon 40 skellis A mortarch-box malign sorcery box for a new player I would really suggest starting with 750-1000 points to get the feel for the game and the most comfortable style. I have not used any of the new nighthaunt, not really my style, but the really have good options with the chainrasp horde or the grimghast reapers...

There’s only one classic rule to distinguish good screening from bad screening... are you able to deliver your heavy hitters into the units you want to? if they get tangled up in skirmishers...bad screening (good from your opponent) if they can’t reach their targets because your stuff standing in their way... bad screening if they get charged by your opponent... no screening (and bad positioning) A lot can go wrong and rolls can mess you up too. That’s why I really like the wolves for screening. In a pack of 10, you have Great Board Control. They have good speed to stretch out and are sturdy enough to take a beating without getting in too much trouble (5+\6++, 2hp =late battleshock) and can even nibble back a bit. If you still struggle, because now all the puppies are standing in the way... take neffi, she‘ll let you fly over your enemy or in your opponents combat phase, take casualties from the middle of your puppies to remove one half of them AFTER the battleshock. Then suddenly for your turn the once engaged block of enemies is free to get punched in the face.... use the split unit rule to open the gates for a charge
  17. I fear that we will ,as of now, not be able to compete with the same non-chalance as the new hotness... Fish-men, latex-sisters, nurgle filth, mighty shiny stomboys or even poor clown car overlords. we have one of the most overpriced battleline, suffer from highly squishable support heros, suicide abilities (the trophy ability from the ghast is cool but totally stupid), barely any rend and wysiwyg no armor. Not to mention stupid battalions or they are expensive as hell... even royal family with double/triple gk-summoning struggles to achieve something. So I guess you’ll just won’t win big tournaments as FEC player. Now to the beautiful things in the life of a FEC Player: it is fun... if you know what your opponent is playing, you are able to design pretty cool counter lists... keep your support heros save and nobody can outgrind us... talking about cool...we are the coolest XD we are pretty fast and can hit pretty hard if you don’t know how to deal with it, bury it in corpses (either a lot of small ones or larger ones) always remember, it’s an objective based game... if you have enough VP, you might just get tabled, who cares... saw a game on MWG against the shiny poster boys, he was extremely lucky on some rolls, but basically he charged in, blocked the board with 40 ghouls and started hoarding VPs. His gkotg and gkozd might/should have been killed turn 3 instead of 4, but they were just there to summon stuff in and distract the opponent from grabbing the objective. His list was: gkozd (general), gkotg, gk, ghast, 40/10/10 ghouls, 6 horrors for 1940 pretty good all around and horrors around a gkozd (reroll hit+wound) are scary Enough rambling, more dice throwing...

Chill... my list was kinda stupid and actually I only lost because I charged my varghulf. but you are right FEC really suffers against the new hotness in 20/20 hindsight, I might have switched the varghulf for two ghasts... the GUO was killing things, but on the other hand was not going anywhere either. After my varghulf hit the dirt my regain didn’t match my losses anymore. And the demons don’t stand a chance...
  19. Looks awesome!!! I really like the LoN Book and all the crazy stuff you can do with it. Especially if you‘re able to play in a beer&pretzel (casual fun oriented) environment. So much Crazy things possible and fun to play.
  20. Played today a 1k epic grind against Nurgle filth... pretty pathetic pillow fight, but funny nonetheless. If only the GUO hadn’t loaded bricks into his. Overextending my varghulf costed me the win since I couldn’t recall enough ghouls... 30/30 ghouls +varghulf +king+ ghast vs 30/20 plaquebearers+ 3nurglings+ GUO
  21. Reading it here in english yes, but the wording/translation in german is slightly off. Instead of „units within range“ , it is more like „measure around the model“...
  22. Just had a discussion about this combo in my gaming club. Consensus was going in the direction, that the spell is an aura effect and as such not able to „creep“ through a portal. You do not measure a „range“ but it says within 3“ of the caster. Arkhan could still boost the AoE.
  23. They are set up after the movement phase, so you can use your command abilities. But van hels is not available first turn. I‘m not a big fan of 10 men graveguard, they just die too easily. For resurrection you‘ll need CPs also for the awesome command abilities of arkhan and mannfred. but you do you...
  24. Or combine summonings... if you double cast from a gkotg or have two kings calling ghouls.... or rewrite the warscrolls from „return slain model“ to „add model to unit“, suddenly a ten men squat is useful. If you compare 10 ghouls with 5 dogs you just cry...

Double varghulf summoning with double ghoulkings sounds good, but you need all the CP you can get your hands on to pull that off. that leaves you with less CP to run&charge or battleshock. all in all we‘re talking about 320 points for the two varghulfs and 280 points for two ghoulkings who could call in another 200 points of ghouls 800 points for a total of 4 CPs I do think, that this is pretty strong for certain scenarios, but you’re not bringing any kind of filth to the table. 10 ghouls should wear yellow-black colors as speedbumps and their king is not really strong compared f.e. a megaboss. you really need the magic phase to be strong, playing with endless and realm spells... For ambush summoning, I‘m almost preferring a gkotg to summon a double team of horrors with majestic horror, only a single varghulf from a nearby positioned gkozd to trigger the horrors... no need for royal family costs, but another big monster instead
