What we do know that the 11 free cities are gone, which are replaced by 4 battle formations, With the SCE we know they have 4 battle traits and 4 formations. Will 4+4 be enough to replace all the cool stuff CoS 3rd edition had. I don't know.
That's in their packs, aka, Index. Wait for the battletome first, and then whe can start complaining

I'm with you. I can't wait to learn more about the game.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that Armies of Renown are still a thing in 4.0. Maybe Big Waaagh will become one of them.

I need to see more warscrolls, but it seems that Wizard (1) let you cast or unbind 1 spell.
That seems a nice mini-game with some important decisions to make.
Btw, I'm not sure that I understand how prayers work.
So, I try to chant a 4 ritual points prayer, I roll 1D6 and get a 4. My army then has 4 ritual points. Then what? The prayer is answered (needs 4 ritual points) or can I store all this ritual points to go for a 8+ chant effect? Being accumulative, can I use other priests to make a bigger pool of ritual points?

...hitting again on 4+, with range reduced to 18" at most and no Shoot in Combat on any of the boats, for example.
Likely? No idea.
Possible? Absolutely.
I don't know what to expect really.
Maybe "Shoot in combat" for our pistols? Some Anti-infantry (rend) for our volley guns?
Even with reduces rend and range, USR could be enough to make our weapons effective for some targets, and we have A LOT of weapons.

Then the castellite formation makes no sense at all. I don't agree with you here.
Let me tell you about Kharadron Overlords...

What if... the "weird" things that claimed @Whitefang for the next edition are new cross-allegiances factions:
- Chaos Duardin: Chaos-Destruction
- Malerion Daemons: Chaos-Order
- Silent People: Death-Destruction
- Followers of Morr: Death-OrderI'm all for it.
Since early 2017 that we have hints of cross-faction "people", from that Orruks that work on some free cities, Ogors following Kharadrons and even Malign Portents campaign had a Fyreslayer's lodge "fighiting" side by side with Nighthaunts.
Miniatures and Lore are done, we only need rules.

If they really wanted to avoid conga lines or whatever the problem was with 1" coherency. They should have done something like KoW. Give each unit a fixed dimension / Footprint. It speeds up the game and you don't have to pile in. All the new rules still would work with it. (I think).
I prefer Turnip approach: 1" for all models and a fixed distance between the models all of them (turnip28 has 8") in the same unit.
AoS is a little bit more tricky cause there are a lot of diferent bases and a range of 3 to 20 models for each unit. But I wound't mind to see a new "stat" on each warscroll to fix that (like Malifaux bases/size on each card).

But lol, for some AoS can do nothing wrong
Or maybe they focus on things thar they like (not me, I usually cry about stuff that nobody gives a f).

Please god no, unless this will speed up Thunderer shooting.
Edited! Btw, I'm with you that 5 diferent weapons with their own special rules is not the best experience to have.

As a Kharadron Overlords player, this rules is AWESOME. yes, all my untis are ranged units, but I asked for this since first edition and I'm glad to see it.
It hits right between strategy, fluff and of course, the fun of playing AoS. And that's exactly what I want.
1 hour ago, Flippy said:I’m generally with GW on this. Long lines and loose blobs begone.
I'm 100% with this. A los of space between units means a lot more opportunities to make plays. Grouped up units is fine even if it will be hard in the first games.
I still miss something that promotes charging, even if your unit doesn't have a weapon with the charge USR.

Anyway, I'm OK being wrong on this one. I'm just hoping that there's at least one other person out there who likes the Hammers paint scheme.
There is no "wrong" or "right" about this. You are not wrong, you just have diferent preference.

I saw this graph in the Honest Wargamer discord and it shows how huge 40k is.
Imho, that's exactly what I expected.
Edite: Any teaser about what are we going to see for 4oS today?

Nah. That's the only no-no from GW's. They even reference it in the core book.
Unless they retcon the whole Karl Franz era: The Great War against chaos will be the nu'End Times!! BOOM

Trade between the Old World and Cathay is still happening in this age, and they do send army forces to escort those trade caravans through the Dark Lands.
They can write whatever they want to make Cathay an active player. It will not be the first time they retcon things.

I don't have any problem if AoS borrow some Fantasy/40k elements. The attendants look like if they came from Ecclissarchy, and to be honest, they look cool af.

Yeah, I don't buy it. The Throne of Chaos campaign is not contemporary to The Old World. I guess it may happen eventually, but I'm not counting on it.
That!s exactly what I said in the other forum

So, no tamurkhan release. Gotcha

A series of campaign books for ToW was on the pipeline since the beginning. That rumour is not a rumour, It is like saying that AoS next edition will have Battletomes
Yes, of course. I'm used with the specialist campaigns, they are one of my favorite GW products.
But I was talking about Tamurkhan campaign for TOW and how it fits with the ongoing story.
I get the point to release Tamurkhan again, re-sell again it's miniatures. But I'm interested to see how are going to do that:
A simple reprint of the book for collectors?
A reprint with updated rules for Tamurkhan/Nuln armies and Chorf Heroes? Maybe they can continue the story with his other brothers...
Maybe a full rewritte to fit TOW narrative and updated rules?

With the succes of Old World..GW considering reviving Thrones of Chaos Campaign and finish the story...all depends on two things: Thrones of Decay sales and Old World needs to continue gather revenue in similar style with remaining core factions.
I don't understand how this will work unless they totally start from scratch, but I'm all for it.
I'm a big fan of this type of supplements, so sad that AoS doesn't have a side-campaign from the specialist studio.

Anything about Grungni and Grombrindal?

From how it is written, the Priest is the one that gains the ritual points. So, I think that you are right about how this works. Priest (2) seems to be the soft spot for chanting shenanigans.
