  1. Don't know if anyone else picked up on this but according to the Allegiance ability preview the Spider venom rule still does mortals on a 6+ still not the new AoS 2 standard "natural rolls of 6". This lets you drop the roll needed  by stacking +1's to hit but -1's will shut down your wonderful 8 legged beauties. Any one have any idea why this would be? I see now why the loonboss only buffs stabba's and shotta's.

Spider venom will deal mortal wounds on 5s if in the same quarter of the board that the bad moon terrain piece.    I assume this means a change to grot big boss on gigantic spiders command ability.

Interesting to note that it says 6+ and 5+. Not the standard for AoS 2 which is natural rolls of 6. This means -1 to hits will still be devastating to us but if we can find a +1 to hit from somewhere (rare in destruction outside of the selfish Iron Jaws) where in the money! Wonder how this will work with the bosses command ability? I assumed he would be going away being fine cast and all but he’s very clearly in the picture in this article. Mortals on a 4+ anyone?

I am going full insects. Have already the alarielle beatle standing around (bought as an arachnarok-alternative). I was never a big fan of the forrest-goblins, so I mounted nightgoblins on my arachnarok and spiderriders. So if we get a giant Centipide with nightgoblins...

I was going to run Alarielle's beetle as an allied stonehorn for my spiderfang. Just trying to catch it cheep on bits sites.

  4. So how do we feel about Gloomspite Gitz? The evidence would point towards us being rolled in to the new faction. This could mean new rules, new models even and not having to depend on the 400 points of allies to make up our short comings. What concerns me (slightly, I am so hipyed for new stuff) is the loss of our individual. I was hoping for a all Spiderfang tome with new units and cool toys of our very own. I feel that Spiderfang has a rich and unique favour to draw from. Hopefully this will be a BoC style book that will let you build a mono spider list if you want to.

at 1:50 in the trailer, you clearly see Spider Riders coming out of a cave.

I'm not getting my hopes up... JK they're all the way up to 11.

Thank you Froo! I was excited about this but now I won’t be able to sleep. What a great Christmas prezzy.

It would be really cool for the Moonclan to have big centipedes and the Spiderfangs to have big spiders.

This is my found hope. I want this with a nice joint battalion the will give my spider the boost they need. Plus super cool. I want Grots to get all the insects. Very jealous of Alarielle’s beetle. In any sane world that thing would have a load of angry grots on top of it. The important question and I think I could be one for any new faction release is what will the terrain piece be? For Moonclan maybe a mushroom grove. What would it do?

It's been photoshopped to cut out the rest of the model maybe? Reminds me of the neck plates on the boobsnake.

I definitely think something has been photoshopped out here, sneaky GW, just like the string of bullets from earlier. The astectic really matches the fungoid cave shaman and Zarbag’s Gitz, mainly the armoured squig herder. I LOVE the idea of the giant armoured centipede that @Sabotage! mentioned. I have quietly hoped for this too. I’m trying not to get too excited because it could be anything but......IT’S GROTS!!!!!

  8. I think it was suggested a while ago on Warhammer weekly that you could use the different style spiders from the sider rider box to make different units. The skull backs being more about poison but then some of the others being different types. A trap door spider with a ambush style deployment, a web spitter having something like the moon clan netters -1. that kind of thing. I could be done with no need of new kits. I not saying I don't want new kits but I am just trying to be realistic. If Spiderfang where to get a Battle tome I think we would have to see a plastic Big boss.

Having said all that I don't think we will see this soon. I think Moon clan are coming next and I'm happy for that. Grot are great even if it's not my flavour of Grots. I am holding out hope that they double down on the centipede astatic from the Fungoid cave shaman and we get some kind of giant bugs which will have a Braggoth's style battalon with Spiderfang. Just something to make them a little bit more competitive. Maybe we will get some love in GHB 2019.

    Congrats @Lord_Skrolk, what you running?

Yes I'd love to hear what you are running. I am due to play my first AOS games next week against Nighthaunt, Seraphon and clan Eshin. We will be playing 1000 points. This is the list I'm thinking of running.

Grot Shaman on Arachnarock w/ ethereal amulet

Grot big boss on Gigantic spider - General w/ Ravager

    20 x Spider riders

    5 x Spider Riders

    5 x Spider Riders

Soulsnare Shackles or quick silver swords

What could happen though is that the Moonclan BT may have mixed army battalion like Braggoth's Beasthammer  for BCR where you can field spiders and other grot units and have synergy with them.

That would be great. I hope we hear something soon about some kind, any kind, of Grot release. Fingers crossed for something from Warhammerfest.

  11. Hi Guys,

I was watching Warhammer weekly and when discussing this weeks rumour engine the guys concluded that it was Grots. They thought the bugs were like the one the Fungoid Cave shaman has and that GW maybe steering in to the bug thing for Moonclan. Just say this is true. Could this mean that Spiderfang would be folded in to Moonclan? If so how would people feel about that? Could it mean that it won't be a Moonclan release but a general Grot release with a LoN style tome. or is this just reading a lot in to some maggots coming out of an armpit?

Like me know what you fellow think? What would you like to see?

Is there currently any way to give Arachnarok better chance to apply poison? (other that grot Big boss command ability?). Any to hit bonusses left for destro

Goredrakk gives a +2 to hit bonus for one turn but at a hefty points price

thinking that if I cast the cogs in first round can add 2 to move and charge and get into combat turn 1, also maybe use Fungoid command ability to add charge and run in  turn 1 but not sure it's worth sacrificing get big Boss mortal wounds on a 5 or 6 for that first round of combat, suppose just go with what I need. Once there the plan will be to reek as much havoc as I can with both 5 and 6 to mortal wound doing double damage as a combo of Boss and Shaman kick in whilst casting Pendulum and Jaws turn to turn

Would it be an idea to drop an endless spell or two to get the command point so you can use both command abilities in turn 1?

I was reading the main rulebook and I came across something interesting.  In the section describing the various sub-factions within Destruction it mentions that the Spiderfang grots have been affected by all of the magic in their environment and some have begun to mutate spider-like traits.

It specifically mentions some have multiple eyes, some have multiple limbs, and some have a venomous bite.  I don’t recall ever seeing this sort of fluff before - aside from some lore long ago in Warhammer Fantasy about the shaman being infused with spider venom.

The shaman model on the Arachnarok is mutated to have multiple eyes, but there has never been a multi-armed goblin model aside from the Grot models in the Silver Tower set.  Now, I don’t know if they would want to repurpose those models or make make a new kit, but I would be surprised if they put that line in the Spiderfang lore description for no reason.

So does anyone else want to engage in rampant speculation?

Imagine a unit of 60 spider grots with the Spider venom rule. Especially if they had something like if you have 20 your +1 to hit, 30 or more +2. Epic.

I know a few of the rumour engines have looked grot like. We are all assuming it’s Moonclan but a couple look very Spiderfang. I’m hope we get some love soon. ?????
