RuneBrush
Hi All, I'm looking for suggestions on what people use in way of a satin varnish? Specifically in a spray can (or rattle can if you prefer that term). Recently I've been really unimpressed with GW's Purity Seal unless the weather conditions are perfect (unlikely now the UK is in Autumn) so on the hunt for something else. I tend to use satin varnish as a "sealer" when I'm working on larger models (and scenery). Basically you put down some normal paint and then do a light coat of satin over to lock it in place. Gloss and Matt varnish end up changing the texture of the paint too drastically which makes it quite difficult when you do the next paint colour. Would need to be UK based as shipping overseas tends to get pricey! cheers
MightyQwan
Well I'm not sure what is available in the UK but here in Canada I use Krylon rattle cans. They make gloss, matte and satin varnishes. I have never had a problem with it frosting up my model or bubbling. Here we can pick it up at any craft supply store. RuneBrush
Frustratingly Krylon seems to be quite elusive in the UK now, I've always sworn by their clear coat (the high gloss one) but have only found it for silly money in recent months. ElectricPaladin
How about Testor's? They're great. I've only ever had it fog up on me once, and that was when I sealed a model in an open garage about five feet from the pouring rain.
