Noob a Allies questions.

Sweetcurse

Question

Apologies if this has been answered but I couldn’t find it.

I’m new to Sigmar and are am building an StD army.   I want to ally Khorne units from the original core set as well as some Tzeench troops I have.

My question is, do I need those armies’ battle tomes to ally them in?   Do I need their warscroll battalion info?   Or how do I go about it.  Lastly, are the warscrolls basically like detachments in 40k?

You only need the warscrolls and points for them. So you basicly can use the PDF in the Onlineshop as well.

Most of the time you won't be able to use warscroll Battalions for allies because if the Battalion isn't part of the Allegiance it will exceed most likely your allypoints anyway. (which is only stated in the Corerule FAQ)

No, the 40k equivalent of Warscrolls are basicly the Datasheets. In AoS multiple detachments doesn't exist so your entire army is basicly one detachment and multiple detachments only exist in multiplayergames.

Thank you so much for your help.  I think I understand the battalion issue then.  Battalion warscrolls require certain minimum amount of units which altogether will exceed ally point maximum.

So basically any abilities gained from WB can’t be used when taking allies.

Thanks that simplified things.
