spoon_fed05
Hi, about to start painting a couple of mortarchs. One of the first pieces during assembly says to paint beforehand. That’s fine however when I come to prime the model later on with a spray can won’t this piece that’s already painted get at least some primer on it? Or are these paint before asssembly parts so hidden the primer won’t hit them?
Vasshpit
Neat trick: Silly putty is your friend, cheap, and easy to use. Just put some on parts you don't want painted and spray away. It wont pull of paint and is a reusable masking tool.
RuneBrush
That'll be the chest skulls then The way I did it was to double-sided tape that piece onto a baton and just undercoated the detailed side and then just got the base colour on (I used an airbrush). The sides are hidden once you glue it in, so even if the glue seeps you won't actually see it (unless you go a little mad with the glue)! I left the head off to paint it, so you do have access with a brush to apply washes.
