Chillpill
After crying myself to sleep last night I got up this morning freshly motivated and built the rest of the Brutes (at least partially). Going with sub assemblies this time!Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Vaux
Good choice! No more armor in front of skin you want to paint hehe
Simhis
Primer looks better too! There are still some mold lines, check the sword of the right one for example, those are pesky because they will stand out when you've painted the models.
Chillpill
They are not primed yet [emoji16]Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

TheOtherJosh
Simhis which Sword do you mean exactly by the way? Or do you mean the arm? If you look at the picture, right above where the hand is, just below the sword blade starts you can see a mound line. (The model on the right) Take a look over all of them for mound lines and clean those up, it helps a bunch, especially when working with white primer. Here's a video on cleaning mould lines: (it's ... got amusing music and silly transition effects) https://youtu.be/F4-uOVScTgc

I will try to do something soon though! No worries! I get bogged down in the evenings too... so it's not just you. Chillpill
Ladz, an update. I managed to basecoat the models today and will hopefully be doing some more painting later tonight when the kids are in bed.I am much happier with the basecoat this time I think, held the models further away and only did very short bursts. I think i will also be a fan of the subassemblies of the Brutes I can already see that I should have much better control of where the paint ends up! Chillpill
Ok as I hoped I was able to squeeze in some painting. I basecoated with waagh flesh again and then mixed lahmian medium with warboss green to highlight a bit as i saw that technique in a video and it looked suitable for me. Currently waiting for the models to dry.As i suspected I love the fact that i used sub assemblies this time...makes this easier for me!Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Chillpill
Been working on these for I think 4 hours or so tonight and I am actually quite happy with the results so far. One thing I realised is that I suck at highlighting...I just cannot seem to be able to apply thin highlight strokes it always ends up being a thick line/smudge even though I am using the S and XS artificer brushes! [emoji34] Also. I messed up the position of the right arm, it is too high, which made it really hard to put the shoulder/back armor on! Chillpill
Ladz...another update. I think I am nearing the end of my project and so far i am reasonably happy with the outcome. I feel like i am making progress and getting better too! Need to look into how to make decent looking bases (easily) next!! Still WIP but the end is in sight! Most of them need tidying up where the black spilled on the yellow or green on yellow etc but this did not turn out to be a disaster which was the main objective haha. I am going to make a thread in the destruction forum in a minute to seek advice/opinion on what to get next. Already had a chat with @Chris Tomlin but was also thinking that this could be a bit of fun to make a poll out of? TheOtherJosh
Drybrushing hilights is a viable alternative to line hilighting. But solid job!
Chillpill
Yes I think I will give drybrushing highlights a go!
Titcher
just want to say that this thread has been an inspiration to me. I am in a similar boat, shaky hand, lack of skill and patience has always meant that my models have been ok, never good or great. But the ironjaw models are so amazing that I really want to do them justice and this has lead to a reluctance to start. This thread though has given me some ideas and inspiration to get on with them so thank you.

Chillpill
Long time no update...too long. Here is a small update. I was not happy with the shoulder pieces of the armor so i repainted them in stegadon green and nuln oil wash. I also did that for the boss brute. Looks better now i think.I also did the wraps/linen bits and added some flames on the armor...jury is still out on those...Lastly i created a wet pallette now and I love it especially in this weather!!Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Tzaangor Management
Nice work. Shoulder pads being slightly green was a good choice I think and I'm 100% behind the flames on the armor. If you're having doubts about those then don't!
Chillpill
Thanks mate! Will try to put the blue-ish patterns you see on the box on the shoulder pads as well. Anyone got tips for removing a model from the base? I need to take the megabrute off to actually do what I want to do with the base...

Tuluth
So, what I do is run a thin hobby knife just between the foot and base. It seems to work for most larger models (like Brutes). If you're not trying to save the base, you can also just use clippers to cut up the base, and cut close to the feet.
Chillpill
Apologies for not posting updates for such a long time but a 2 weel holiday abroad, hot weather and binge reading the realmgates war books all got in the way.Today I made more progress which I wanted to share, I think these 5 are almost done now so hopefully I can start on my Start Collecting Ironjawz box soon!Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Chillpill
Family Foto! Have to say, considering that these are the first models I ever painted... like EVER... they turned out okay. Not as neat as I'd like and I do regret painting the Brute Boss first... out of all the Brutes I feel he looks the worst.
