I feel like the way a lot of people talk about range consistency and what’s good for AoS re: older minis being squatted or dropped - particularly where that’s treated as a Good Thing Actually - is driven mostly by their own feelings and aesthetic preferences, with a view on GW’s trends and motivations coming second as a sort of thin justification.
And I think that those feelings and aesthetic preferences tend to have a strong vibe of “my peas and mashed potatoes should never touch!”
Yeah, tbh it really hurt when my phoenix elves were squatted. I thought I was ready for the possibility, but when it rolled around it was still a major gut punch. Its not the financial commitment, its the hours and hours and hours you spent painting the army, thinking about the lore or lists and tactics. You can proxy them, but it's never the same.

So 2 box for the same models ? One box for AOS and one box for TOW ?
I imagine, like cities of sigmar dwarves, they'll exist in both ranges for a while. At least until we get 4th edition and there are indexes for every faction and a partial range cull.

That's what I think will happen too - Morghur returns and mutates the beastmen into strange, new and more easily-copyrighted forms.
This is a great shout. A chaos spawn faction full of weird gribblies be amazing, and also scratches the aos tyranid itch.
As someone who plays primarily gavespawn with all its weirdness, I hope this is where they take them.

The Full video in question here:
Just FYI he also said earlier in the week that bonesplitterz are prob being squatted too.
Tbh I already have a huge BoC army, and would love a bonesplitterz army. But I feel like I'm back in 2022 again starting a new phoenix temple cities army. We all know how that turned out.
I should have listened to Rob then. Now I'm waiting to offload them to an old world grognard for peanuts.

Really? You don't remember when Ogors when gonna get souped with SoB? Dwarfs souped for sure this time? Every other time it was curtains for BoC? I can't remember a single time he was right about anything that wasn't common knowledge in this thread, IE Whitefang rumors and the like.
You could be right, but I don't recall those instances specifically, but it could have been speculation rather than actual rumour.
But I trust him on a lot of stuff. For instance, he said in early Dec when everyone was expecting it to drop that battlescroll is being pushed back to LVO, on the 18th.
He said a few weeks back that there will be army book unit entries without corresponding model releases in old world. We will be able to see those are true in the next few weeks.

Is there any prominent individual with a worse prediction track record than Honest Wargamer?
I can't remember a single instance where he was wrong.

Endless spells are amazing! Would hate to see them leave the game. But massive points cuts and buffs in the recent GHB looks like they're clearing stock. Hope I'm wrong.

Wouldn't GW find another place for the model? or do they just scrap it now?!
Ordinarily, I would say so. But then, apparently incarnates are part of the same bunch of stuff that is manufactured in China.
If rumours are correct, then GW wants to get rid of endless spells in the next edition, which may be due to it ending its manufacturing arrangement in China. I don't know where that leave faction terrain though.

That Fyreslayer is a vast improvement over the old runesmiter. It looks like GW have finally got the Fyreslayer aesthetic down. I’d love to see a full resculpt of the range with this new look.
All my stubby little digits are crossed for a full resculpt. It starts with the runesmiter.

Already sick of the old world. Could be just my frustration, but I feel like it's already stealing the spotlight from AoS

Maybe tomorrow its the osiarch Hero, and/or other death héroes for dawbringers.
On the off-chance it is indeed a 'morghast sunwarden' I imagine we'll have a very nice little indication of what to expect in terms of releases for the next year.

Speaking of River Temple, I should remind everyone that Stoneguard have bull crest helmets, and their spirit avatar is a huge bull. Windriders have a fox crest, and their spirit avatar is a agile flying fox. If River Temple have a dragon crest, does that mean their spirit avatar is a water dragon?
The ministry of silly helmets will no doubt have been hard at work.

Only riders as a Darkoath unit. The regular Darkoath is a warcry warband.
Ravagers is actually not a cultist unit in the same way as the other warcry warbands like corvus cabal etc. They also have 10 models, unlike the other units which tend to have eight or nine.
So perhaps ravagers are already intended as direct replacements for marauders.
I'd like to see darkoath get a heavier infantry unit, or perhaps something like a war mammoth.

I guess the new "marauder horseman" (quotation marks because the name will absolutely change to something like "Darkoath Riders" to be more trademarkable) puts some credit to the rumour we had all those months ago, when the Dawnbringers narrative was announced and there was the icon of the Darkoath Savagers in the trailer. Some of us thought it meant S2D were gonna be in the campaign and that finally those age old marauder sculpts were getting a replacement. Well it took halfway through the narrative to have a glimpse of them but they're finally coming !
Noticed this one got the official like. Wonder if we'll get more than horsemen for darkoath? Perhaps a more generic infantry equivalent than the savagers.

Darkoath cavalry
Callis and toll
The elf looks like a new 'arenai' unit for DoK
There are two nighthaunt silhouettes, so perhaps a new unit?

I saw a discussion about whether they are more AoS-like in terms of sculpt than WHFB-like. What do we think? IMO there's a clear difference in terms of the sculpt of this minis with something from AoS, but some users think the other way around.
The scarabs look like they were sculpted in the late 90s. In that sense, they suit the rest of the old world aesthetic.

Hopefully not just the tomb king box set we've already seen, quite boring if so. Plus some indistinguishable silhouettes for new models due to be released later this year.
Humbug!

To be fair, every new edition of AoS has refined the rules not completely changed them for the sake of it.
We'll have to see what 4th edition brings but change can be good otherwise the game stagnates and get stale.
This is my biggest hope. I hope we don't get the 40k 10th edition treatment.
If that happens, I feel like I might as well just jump into old world instead.

What's the deal with these rumour engines. Will everything that's been teased be revealed at Christmas?

Yes, especially since the lore of pretty much every faction explicitly mentions the female members of each faction.
Female wrathmonger in Godeaters Son made me think about starting khorne mortals. Until I realised it was just an absolute sausage party. Such a weird design choice.

That's not going to go over well with a certain very vocal part of that fanbase, lmao
Good, now give us female bloodreavers, marauders, kairics and dwarves to mix in with existing units. All male units - all male armies - look weird af.

Honestly, I reckon it's just an extension of slaves to darkness. Adding cannons and warmachines.
